Does the valve itself usually get hot? I tuned my 325i on and it's very hot ( the valve itself)? I have connection just wondering if it should b replaced, don't know if this exploded my tank
...why did you remove the press release clip from the MAF. just disconnect the intake duct from behind it and release the MAF via the metal spring clips in behind the airbox. you don't need to drain the coolant, clamp the hoses to the valve using gator grips and a rag as not to damage the hoses. Disconnect the valve connector from the relay portion of the valve and then slide it out of the hoses. replace it and reverse the steps. Common issue with these are deposits on the shaft internally holding it in the open or closed position as the actual relay becomes aged and weaker.
If I suspect a malfunction in the water heater valve is why I'm getting mixed hot and cold air when using the AC, would simply unplugging the valve potentially fix my issue?
@@EnvyInMotion it'd be more of a headache, use a pair of vise grips to clamp the hose running into the cabin shut until you can purchase and replace the valve, ziptie the visegrip handle so it can't pop off and make sure they don't foul. This is in case of an emergency (unable to defrost or similar situation) or to diagnose the HCV.
I gave my heater valve a clean and grease. I will if this improves my heating problem. I can be driving for say 20 minutes and then the heater suddenly pushes out extreme heat regardless of the temperature setting. I will let you know how I get on and if the problem is fixed.
Did cleaning the heater valve solve your problem? I am also experiencing the same heat coming from the foot well regardless of temp. setting. I was thinking of replacing it, but I'd love to save $100 if I could just clean it...
@@EnvyInMotion hmm, It's been some time now, but I think this may have fixed it. I don't seem to have the issue anymore. I don't remember if this was the solution or something else. Sorry. I know I replaced a lot of the cooling system hoses, including those underneath the intake. Idk if that was before or after this cleaning job. Good luck!
Hello everybody, Do you think, the aux heater valve may affect on the duration of the engine warm-up? I have these symptoms of long warming up of the engine (bmw e91 330 xd, manual gearbox). I’ve changed both thermostats and it’s still like 20 mins (in spring time ~ 10 deg C ) to get to the 88 deg.. According to the Realoem the specific item is called: Changeover valve p/n: 64126951814 Regards
