I would recommend wearing gloves when putting the bulbs back in. It's definitely a no-no when replacing a quartz halogen light bulb of a work light, for instance, but I wouldn't risk it with headlights either. the oil from your fingers can cause the light to burn out unevenly and earlier
Yes, as far as I can remember the bulbs in the third rear brake light were all the same bulb. If needed, you can double check with your vin at a GM parts department.
