Vincent, It is people like you that make RU-vid rock. Thanks for the tutorial. You gave me enough confidence to try it myself. If i left it to the dealer they would have charged me $60 for part and $150 for labor. You save me a good amount of money.
Bryan Bennett hey bud I'm glad it worked out for you it was much simpler than I thought it would be as well subscribe to my channel for more helpful videos if you'd like God bless
Thank you so much for this video. I am 67 years old, on Social Security, and saving money is really important. You did that for me and I thank you. The part is now $24.95 online through 1A auto parts and I figure you saved me about $200.00. It took about 20 minutes to do the job but your tutorial made it easy.
I just did one on my 00' sonoma and if I may... Unscrew the old handle and pry it lose, then pinch the plastic clips to remove the old handle. Leave the original plastic clips on the upper and lower latching rods in the same exact positions. Now remove the plastic clips from the new handle and install the new handle on to the old / existing plastic clips. For me it worked perfectly, no adjusting and considerably less time than it took me to type this (about two minutes). Good luck and piece out.
Thankful this was available! Dorman part at AutoZone, plastic, is about $8. Did as directed but left screw dropped down from God knows where. Don't know what it was attached to but pushed back up and in, held in place til new clips screwed on and secured with screws. Easy install for this old lady
Thanks for the video. Nice and straight forward. Gonna fix my broken handle in very near future. Dealership has already fixed twice (S-10 is 13 years old), and cheap plastic handle has broke once again.
Just bought the same truck. Need to change driver door latch so I can pick the door. Probly the whole driver side panel and everything to do with that door
Cool video, Man. The plastic asjusting nuts, that are on the two handle rods, open up so that you dont have to rotate them all of the way down to where they need to be. You can just open them, put them around the rods in position, and then close them and then fine tune the location by twisting them clockwise/counter clockwise, moving them up or down. Screwing them into place could take a very long time. So, theyre like a clam shell, and itll save a lot of time…. Until you drop one down into the door cavity, then its game over, as far as time is concerned. Thank you for the video!
Looks like you need to repair your broken seat recliner handle as well I noticed. They break on all of them, they have a repair kit for that now to, restores recline.
Just a heads up, in my S10 group on Facebook someone had linked an Amazon link for an all metal handle. I won't paste the link but the name is T1A Interior Third Door Handle Replacement for 1996-2003 Chevy S-10, GMC Sonoma and Isuzu Hombre, Black Color, fits Rear Left Inside Third Door I just ordered mine, so I can't vouch for quality yet, I'll know in a couple days when it's delivered
hey Vincent ok mine is a 93 s10 cant get the part to attach to both pins inside the door how do you do that and get the part back in you didnt show that in the video i have banged up hands and have done a lot of cussing thanks
I have 02 GMC Sonoma ZR2, that 3rd door handle has been a pain from day one. Dealership wants to charge outrageous amounts for another poorly made piece of plastic and for them to install.. After 3 handle replacements.. E-bay - under 8 $$ and a metal handle, ba bye cheap plastic. And no more dealership raping over parts and installments.
Yes I installed a steel handle myself also years ago on my O3 Sonoma ZRX. Now my top latch broke. Ordered one from ebay. Before that my door pins went bad, twice. I will never buy a truck with a 3rd door ever again!
@@hotrodder5034 Oh yeah, sliding window latch.replaced. 3rd doors are definitely a pointless pain. My lower latch rusted shut ( northern truck) 3 cans of various rust release,1 can WD40,used motor oil and a crow bar later 🤣🤣🤣 works like a charm.
Before when the handle was broken was the door just stuck shut? My door handle flaps around the exact same way and I can't get my third door open at all kind of thinking this is the same issue.
alright so I followed everything even did the drop the clip in the door (accident) and the door won't open. how do I adjust the clips without pulling them on and off of the handle?
david hoban sorry just saw this. if it hasn't been fixed yet, try loosening screws, that worked for me (mime were too tight and somehow was giving me an issue opening it)
Seven Grand no shit... they were very cheap trucks back in their day right off the lot. In my opinion you still get a better quality more solid feeling mini truck as opposed too a Tacoma
Chevy S-10 is pure junk cause i have spent a ton fixing stuff all the time and i brought a new third door handle and it broke the next day i am so glad i am selling it cause chevy sucks and my Tacoma will run circles around that piece of crap S-10.
