@replumb I really enjoy watching your videos, I understand that producing longer videos takes a lot of time and effort, and they are likely to be less popular, but I hope once we have a chance to watch 10 - 20 minutes or even longer versions of videos produced by you.
I love this! ... Hey, just for dummies like me, if you ever need an idea for a video, maybe you could tell us why some places need the circulation pump on the water heater? I don't know much about that. Thanks for the videos!
It’s typically on larger houses where the wait time for hot water needs to be cut down to avoid wasting water down the drain while you wait. It’s a luxury
If its located on the return pipe it hanldes water with lower temperature and probably should last longer in time vs being intalled on the exit of the hot water towards the house.
Here in New Mexico on new construction i know you have to install a water softener system as well as a circulation pump. I’m not a plumber I’m an electrician and since bout 18 months ago they started asking me to run two circuit to the water heater closet for that reason
Nice installation job! I did so many of these back in the day I can't even count. I prefer the tankless solutions. We started selling those to our customers whenever there was a replacement needed. Tankless is the way to go. They are safer, save space, much more efficient and last much longer. There are models that can be installed outside as well.
I missed the expansion tank installed. I need to add one of those when I replace my water heater. In the meantime, what is better, a magnesium anode or aluminum?
Question. What is the purpose of the T-fitting and capped section of pipes on the gas line beginning at around the 3:00 mark. I haven't ever replaced a water heater and want to know as much about the process as I can and how to do it correctly. Thx
Nice video thanks for sharing. When you cut a copper pipe shouldn't you clear the internal area for any lip that would affect the flow of the water? Furthermore isn't an expansion tank usefull to absorbe the increased pressure?
It looks like you copied the original installation which had the recirc line tied into the hot side. The recommended way to pipe it is to tie the recirc line into the cold supply with a check valve. Also, the water heater strap should be fixed to both sides of the water heater rather than one point behind it. Having one point only potentially allows the water heater to move side to side in an earthquake especially in a corner where the walls can knock it back and forth.
how many plumbers have porta bands, not many...you ever consider getting a pair of "Douglas" p-813 p 10 inch (jones-stephens) great sq jaws for sj nuts and
Отличная работа коллега. Интересно узнать что за материал ты применил в резьбовых соединениях. У меня в России такого не встречается. Есть похожие анаэробные герметики, но у тебя что то другое.
When he puts the T junction on the gas line, why does he do that and put that cap on the bottom instead of just running the flexible yellow line directly to the ball valve? We had a major leak on Christmas Eve that I had to figure out how to fix with the help of other family members. I've been watching plumbing videos since and I'm determined to learn enough to do simple jobs myself.
No, it's not. It is, however, the same pump that was existing before he removed it from the old heater setup. Because they're made of cast iron, these pumps are meant for heating and A/C...not potable water. The customer was probably not willing to replace it with the correct bronze or stainless steel pump as they were likely paying out about $2,500 for a new heater install.
I don’t like the idea of pro press Seems like a way to scare of diy and homeowners It’s $1000 tool. It’s nice but you can get a torch to solder the joints for less than $30 With the tool, the mini propane tank, some solder, you can sweat a joint for around $50 Pex, entry level tools are around the same price. $1000 for the pro press just seems like a way to try to phase out non “pros”
You can get a manual pro press tool for $100 or buy sharkbite fittings. An amateur can find a way to screw any method up regardless of the entry cost to the tool/fittings
Hey boy take your fancy camera and get off my job site! BTW I love how you make fun of boomer types. Tired of hearing old dudes complain and talk smack about younger generations 🙄
I'm a little confused where the hot water circulator pump was installed? I installed one last year and it was on the hot water discharge and not the drain can you explain?
He's just pumping the unused water in the hot water pipes back into the heater to be re-heated. Helps to keep the system more efficient by bringing the water back into the bottom of the tank.
