I just bypassed it and it works... So long as I don't fuck it up with the wrong polarity next time it should be good

I have the same problem. I have the same thing (if im doing it right), i seem to have continuity in the pins of the power switch. Might need to replace the fuse but im not sure how to test it exactly if i don't have anything to supply power. Probably would be the best bet

For a fuse, you dont really need power, although it helps...Majority of fuses can be quickly tested using a multimeter set to continuity mode. Simply think of a fuse as a piece of wire, when the wire gets beyond a certain electrical threshold, it will break....which will cause the fuse to no longer have continuity. This is a simple test and a sure way to determine if your fuse is faulty or not.

Hi, long story short i fried my gba one day after sticking a pair of gator tweezer hooked up to the wall socket, just like the ones you are using to power it up,into the cartridge slot (yes, i know pretty dumb of me to do that, but i was just a curious teenager back then). Anyway, if i get a voltmeter where should i start checking and what values should i look for?

I guess the first thing to always start on is whether the system powers on. That is the primary place to start. If it doesnt, you would have to investigate if it is a faulty fuse (there is no continuity between the 2 points) or a dirty connecter on the power switch. If those are fine, you can then move over to the capacitors that are near the terminals on bottom right. Check to see if they are good primarily by seeing if the capacitors are broken/shorted/swollen have gone bad. This is just a starting point....if the system is still not powering on/displaying anything, then this requires further inspection and following schematics that are found online to determine that the proper circuit is going where its supposed to. I really do hope this helps. Thanks for watching!

Any other possible issues that you’ve encountered with this problem? I have an AGB-001 with an issue. Power switch on and the green LED flickers and shuts off. Push the power switch to off and the LED flickers again and the speaker makes a pop sound. I desoldered the switch plate and cleaned all the contact points in and I have good continuity. Checked the F1 fuse and have continuity. Board is clean and I see zero signs of corrosion. Any suggestion? Thanks

@thebrokehobbyist I also have the same problem, sometimes the power flickers. And you need to push the power switch gently just to make it on. But i tried before cleaning it with some ipa, and the result is good which is continuously powers on like it ain't flickering anymore, but tommorow after that, the flickers came back. Also when I accidentally touches the power switch, it's just so sensitive that It's turning off or rebooting my console entirely.

Tip: After you cleaned it and still got the problem, maybe the problem is on the capacitors due to the age of it. Maybe its time to change those. But you need to really make some research if it's really necessarily needed to change the capacitors since it's the most tough ones to remove from the board. One mistake and you'll gonna rip off the board

@@angelotheartist1918 I ended up replacing all capacitors, power switch, and F1 fuse and still having the same problem. No idea at this point. GBA went into the parts bin
