It's pure hell, like strobe lightning blinding you. My daughter got disoriented by the strobe light. Model number on mine, came with the house is P4010ACLEDSCOCA the piercing was so loud my ears were ringing all day, went off at 3 am for no reason. Removing them and installing a non strobe smoke alarm that does not deafen or blind you. I had a headache the entire day from it.

I have been purely traumatized from the alarms in my apartment for the last three months. The strobe may be helpful for deaf people but it just extremely hurts me to have to turn them off due to constant false alarms I’ve been experiencing. The strobe light leaves ‘sun spots’ in my vision for up to 20 minutes after disabling the false alarms, and I have contacted my landlord dozens of times to fix this issue, I am not sure whether it is faulty electrical work or the actual alarms themselves as I keep reading about so many other people having this same issue with false alarms in the middle of the night. Mine have been constantly triggered for no reason and also from merely boiling some water on my stove with the window open. If anyone has any suggestions it would be highly appreciated!

holy shit, at 2:30 AM one morning I was trying to sleep (I had the lights off) when it suddenly appeared that someone had turned on the lights, I looked at my door at no one was there. The alarm started a moment after, I quickly got up as I i knew there was no fire as I has recently left my room moments prior and smelt no smoke, I ran to my parents room almost falling multiple times due to the strobes making the house go from bright to dark on repeat ( anyone at risk of seizures with a strobe alarm don’t worry it will wake you up, the first thing you need to do is turn on the light in the room so the flashing strobe doesn’t leave you having a seizure in a burning building) the strobe was blinding once the lights were on my dad knew it was a malfunction too so we immediately got a stool and my dad started trying to find the main one, he found it in his room. We went back to bed, but when my dad was trying to turn mine off he took it off the socket, the only problem is he didn’t put it back in and the way it was facing was directed at my bed. Once we were asleep the alarm happened again I was staring at it, I was immediately blinded laying in bed in burning pain (ironic). After 2 minutes i got up then my dad was turning it off again, then 30 secs later, again , repeat, again this time after my dad turned it off he did a alarm test. This time when he was done it meant DONE! He took the main one and broke it. It hasn’t happened since.

Hi Frank, I bought the same as yours but it was bought just three years ago but it kept chirp sound in every 30 seconds then I thought its battery was weak the I took it off ceiling in order to replace battery but I cannot see where to replace battery. Only way is take off cover but I cannot open the cover because screw is not star head to crew off . I look into my tool box with 32 pieces of head crew but no one fit to crew off to open the cover. Could you tell me that this model is not designed for replace battery but to call their customer service for replacement whole fire alarm? Thank you

e @jmahecha2709 Yeah I called service that they said the same as yours but I told myself that never buying online this product that is too much problem and service where they sold it seemly irresponsible to exchange but tell me to fix by do this do that during those we bought from Home depot or sore is never be chirp a sound but battery is weak. To me, I prefer to buy fire alarm that can open to replace battery and never buying any fire alarm with 10 battery 10 years. Since iI never buy fire alarm from online Costco because Costco sell those package for three fire alarms that looked cheap but actually too expensive as I had to to buy another replacement to avoid trouble . Because those package of three alarms from Costco online were short life and cause to much trouble , especially as I installed them into rental house that woke up guests by sounding fire alarm on every week. Please not buying Fire alarm online because customer service advise doing this doing that but avoiding replacing for you . If you buy directly from store that you can exchange or getting refund easily.. Sincerely

Hi Frank , I have multiple alarms in the house ( each of my rooms) they all went off and it was a false alarm. How do I identify which one is the faulty alarm and needs to be replaced?
@jmahecha2709

Happened to me today. I did start to disconnect one by one luckily when I was disconnecting one before the very last one (Master Bedroom) the Master Bedroom stopped. So, I did identify which one was the trigger. I did use our Dyson vacuum on each one and I hope the problem is solved.

Ya had me freaked for a minute, not sure why you had to turn yours on as I just checked all my new ones and they are already in the on position straight out of the box. To turn the switch further will turn the unit off. I suggest that people pay close attention to the position of the arrow before turning it.

It's because the dust keeps triggering the alarm. So you should try to vacuum out all the dust
@Photoelectric_Elevators
@Photoelectric_Elevators 3 года назад
You should pay attentoon to the type of sensor your alarm uses. In this case, it’s photoelectric. Not cleaning the alarm will cause a false alarm. If you want to prevent false alarms, clean the alarm or get a high quality ionization alarm.

If you have rental properties the permanent batteries are good because it keeps tenants from removing them and using them for their tv remotes and xbox controllers
@NyxKemo

Ya but smoke alarms usually use 9 volt batteries ( i am aware some use AA or AAA batteries) and tv remotes or newer Xbox controllers use either AA or AAA batteries

A lot of the lithium sealed units mostly use photoelectric sensors only. If only there were some models that can use the ionization sensor for some units.

These are horrible. I have one in my airbnb and its sync'd with all the other ones in the house - 5 studios in total. When I cook, it goes off - yells at you, flashes the light and everyine in the building comes out looking for the offending alarm. So, I wrapped a plastic bag around it... and cooked again... and it went off again. So I unplugged it... but its still way over sensitive and continues to go off... and so do the other ones in the building. But oversensitive is good right? Oversensitive saves your life and your house right? Well... Carbon Monoxide is heavier than air... so sampling CO at the ceiling isn't smart. Horrible product. I might find another place to live if I can't cook in my $1500/mth newly renovated overpriced walk-in closet. Fuck sakes, might as well have it call 911 for you while your at it. Update: I unplugged it with nothing else going on in the house and It screams FIRE. And no, you can't just push the test/hush button.

So, we spent about 8 minutes of our precious lives watching your video, then towards the end of it, you failed to show us how the strobe light truly works. I guess you could have recorded that strobing light part when your kid wasn't sleeping or at the daycare center, then you would later stitch that separate video to the rest of the video before posting to the universe on RU-vid. ....Now, the main question is how do you compensate us for our valuable and precious time???🤔 I will not subscribe. Thanks.
