Our Sole F80 treadmill gave us a low speed error and stopped working. We could not get a repair person to come and service the treadmill so we started to try and fix it ourselves. Thanks to Dave Larson’s many videos we began to understand the things to look for. We got a new deck and belt and installed them using these videos. However, we still kept getting the LS error code. As a last resort we contacted Dave and he was extremely generous with his time and knowledge and we realized that we needed a new control board. With that installed the F80 is up and running. We owe it all to Dave for his videos and help. Thank you Dave from Ontario, Canada!

Sir: I have a Sole F63 from 2008 and when my belt started to separate, I spent hours trying to find someone to do the repair with no luck. I even went to look at a new model F63 but the quality was nowhere near that of our model which cost $400 more thirteen years ago than the current version priced at $1000. Your video gave me the courage to give it a try. After a couple of hours of work and a shop vac full of dust bunnies and we are back in business. THANK YOU SO MUCH. Without your video, we may have bought a new machine that was half the quality.

Thank you so much...used your video to swap out the deck (cracked) and the belt at the same time. My only comment is that in this video you didn't attach the drive belt which means the viewer has to then go back and unscrew the motor to shift it so that the motor belt can be put on. What I did was wrap the belt around the front roller (in it's appropriate place) AS I was putting it in the slot on the left and dropped the bolt on the right. This saved me the headache of adjusting the motor bolts to attach the motor belt.

Basic rule..You need to flip deck or replace deck ! Never install a new belt on a old surface deck! Will not last! Keep in mind your lamented deck gets glazed & worn out just like your walking belt. 20 years of experience on fitness . By the way Keep up the great videos I’m sure your helping a lot of people 😊
Well thank you you can’t flip over sole decks . On most home models the bottom of the deck is not finished. Well maybe precor life fitness . But yes in general it is best to get a new deck. Depends on amp draw some. 29 years for me

This is if I was running in front near the machine, but if I went back away from the machine, I did not hear the sound, and I made sure that the wood screws were tightened. Where does this sound come from? 2- My device is the F85, and I walk on it for a full hour between walking and running. Some of them told me that this burns the machine because the device cannot bear it, so what is correct?

I think this is the issue I am dealing with for my treadmill. In your video to test the belt for wear, you had the treadmill plugged into a watt meter. You referenced you'd replace the belt and show the new numbers. I watched the video on replacing the belt, but didn't see you test the amps again. When a belt is replaced, what should the typical amps be when walking on it and when running on it?
Thanks for the video, was able to do it myself today although nowhere near as fast nor smooth as you. Mine had the braces which I found difficult to reinstall. Wouldn't hesitate to hire you if you were in my city.
My 2010 Sole f80 turned off while running and flipped the house breaker. Once I reset it, the lights on the unit are back on. However, when I hit start the machine cuts off. The 15a fuse on the machine has a loose red button. It won’t won’t click when I press it.
First off, thank you so much for posting these videos. I replaced the walking belt on my F80 14 months ago after watching this. I have also lubricated the deck with a tube of Landice every 3-4 months since. This week I have noticed I'm once again pulling 8 to 9 amps at 3mph after lubricating again. If this is a worn-out belt again, why would it wear out so fast? Is there any other reason except not lubricating enough that it would wear out so fast? Is there any other reason besides a worn out belt that would cause the increased amperage pull? The original belt with the original lubrication lasted 5 or 6 years. Thank you for watching 14 months does seems like a short time but I do see this is past 2 years . I think your lubing sounds good but depends on use maybe every 2 months I like that lube and sell it . Have you check your deck for scratches or wear! Amp your unit with no one on it if it is less than 3 amps it can only be belt/deck send me your serial number to Fitnesspartspro@gmail.com I will see if they have a upgrade belt but you will have to change you don’t want to blow your controller cost more 😒
Big Thanks from Germany ! I am not equiped with much handcraft talent but with your help I was able to replace the belt and also both rollers THANKS ! My F85 works fine now but I have the suspicion that the real speed is now a bit (0.7 to 1.0 mph would guess) slower than what the SOLE controller Display shows. Any idea what I could have made wrong or should double-check? Maybe I am wrong with my suspicion and I am just faster on the new belt (-:
Well you are most welcome .But you must be handy if you have changed your belt and rollers .Glad I could help .Speed issue try moving your speed sensor around the most common issue with belt change is speed sensor gets bumped

When changing both deck and belt you should use two tubes.And in general the deck should have light and smooth lube feel to it ! Never let it go dry on most manufacturers not all 🤔and thanks for viewing
Thank you for this helpful video and channel. I have a Sole F63 treadmill that stopped working just before the 3 year parts warrantee expired. Sole shipped me a control board and new running belt. As I live in an area where it seems fitness equipment service technicians are not easily accessible, your videos are very helpful. With assistance from your other video on replacing the control board and I successfully replaced that and confirmed that it does now start up. I have just replaced the running belt, and it seems very tight and difficult to roll manually after simply placing the roller back in the brackets. The hex bolts are barely in I don't believe I would be able to get the roller back to the original position I marked. Would a new a new belt be tighter then the old one or is it possible Sole shipped a different size?
Hmm should be same size or at least fit ,if you still have your original one compare it to your new one. If not call sole with new belt number and make sure it is for your unit. Please subscribe Dave
Thanks. It seems the rear roller was rubbing against the deck board. I was able to turn the hex bolts so that the roller is further away from the deck and it now rolls freely but it is not yet to my marked positions. I can raise the belt almost 3 inches in the middle of the deck. Is that an accurate method to determine the correct amount of tightness?
I've owned my F80 for about 15 months. For the past couple weeks, it's been leaving a pile of rubber "dust" at the end of it, and after maybe 30 minutes, I get noise from the deck area, kind of a moaning sound. I've lubed it regularly. I also notice that in past two weeks when I increase speed it actually seems to slow a bit before picking up new speed. Too much lube? Wearing belt? Appreciate your help.
Well so new you should check with sole, but the rubber left over could be your walk belt look for the white rubber in the front also . And check your rear roller it will probably be covered in that stuff . The slowing down could be from controller being over heated from belt wearing down. Hello Dave, Thanks for the RU-vid Videos! If possible could you answer the following? I have a Sole F85 SN585888 treadmill. It just hit 180 hours and about 1000 miles. I got an alert to lube the deck which I did. It is the original walking belt At the exact same time I got an elevation error. This has not cleared when running the incline calibration function. The motor does go up and down during the calibration but the calibration never ends and a clock keeps resetting to about 8:00 minutes and then counts down to 0:00 and then an apparent repeat attempt at incline calibration restarts. Questions: 1. Whats the life span on a walking belt and should I replace it? 2. Any suggestions on the elevation error? 3. Do you sell the recommended parts? Thank you.
Hmm if you got both errors at the same time I would think it would be a software issue I have a walk belt test on my channel. But if you got lube prompt but the unit still runs fine I would lube it and not worry about it . The incline issue Sounds like it’s not receiving the potentiometer signal from console only power . Highest chance of that is console. Being a 08 model I am not sure of parts ? They stop at (around 12 years ) but yes if they have them I can get them . Let me know about walk belt test
Hi, so I replaced my walking belt and deck board on my F85. Both are the OEM parts from Sole. The new board didn't have holes for the 2 belt guides so I matched them up to the old board to mark the holes. The new belt is scraping the guides making a lot of noise. Should the guides be touching the belt? It seems like the edge of the belt is bending as it passes along the guide.
Hey Stuart, This is common on the sole units. If your sure the belt isn’t rubbing on anything else it’s certainly safe to use just the thicker materials in the belt. I my self have questioned this over the past 10 years . Thanks for the video. I'm having trouble preventing the belt from moving to the left (towards the motor belt) on the front roller. I marked the right side of the roller like you suggested but I guess it wasn't a good mark. Do you have any suggestions on how to prevent it from sliding over? I've tried making adjustments without any success. Thanks in advance.
If the belt moves toward the motor then the adjustable side of the front roller needs to move towards rear a little ! The adjustment bolt will need to turn counter clockwise a little
@@FitnessTechnologyServices I'll check the bottom for L shaped brackets. I tried adjusting the bolt and it keeps moving to the left no matter how much I adjust it towards the rear.

hello @FitnessTechnologyServices I was adjusting tension on my belt and over tightened, causing it to crease and fold over on itself in a few spots. I have tried to flatten out and retension but can’t overcome the ripples, just repeats over and over. Is the only option a new belt in this case?
Hmm that is not normally for sole if is Nordic Track ! Some times you can cut the belt!!!! But hard to do see video can you cut your treadmill walking belt on my channel
