Replacing Chevy Trailblazer Header Panel and Grille

This should work for any Trailblazer from 2002-2009. I had just put on new Headlight housings and installed LED bulbs last week and promptly hit a deer the next day. Fortunately I was going slow enough not to damage the vehicle too badly. Just shattered the grill and the header assembly that holds the grill and headlight housings in. Let's get them replaced.

Thanks for this video. My wife didn't hit a deer, she hit a 2022 Mitsubishi instead, who then ran into a Mercedes. Needless to say, the insurance company wasn't too thrilled to hear from us about this one either.

I understand. We had a bright red trailblazer before this one and got T-boned at a highway intersection where the cross traffic was supposed to stop...and didn't. Won't have that type of accident at that particular intersection anymore though. The State had it closed most of last year and turned it into a roundabout.

Thanks for making this! Hit a deer 2 days ago and the header tabs are broke on the one side, so I'm hoping to replace the header, grille and one light assembly with ease.

I couldn't find a youtube video on it when I had to do mine and I'm sure I could have done a better job of making one myself, but hindsight is 20/20. Hope it does help :)

As long as you are safe, the car can be fixed. You did a really nice job Gary.... awesome.. and you saved a TON of money.... congrats

Thanks Ron! The header panel was only $58 on Amazon and the grille was $46 on ebay. What gets me is that the little chevy bowtie that goes into the center of the grille runs anywhere from $49 to $74. I'm like, Whyyyy? It's a dinky bit of plastic. I'll be looking in salvage yards for a used one of those, lol.

I can relate brother.. I bought this trailblazer and the very next day the transmission went out so we put a new one in and drove it two thousand miles across country to Grand Canyon with no issues but the very evening we got back home within 10 miles from the house!! We hit a deer and smashed the whole front .. The grill the bumper and the headlights And this was after putting new LEDs and light casings in ours as well I'm finally repairing the damage and I was grateful to find your video to help me with it.. I'm almost scared to fix it cuz I'm worried I'll have a wreck afterwards lol

We had one before this one the transmission went out on. We were still making payments on the new transmission when someone ran the stop sign at a major intersection near here and totalled it and their vehicle. This one is still running great (fingers crossed) so far.

Same exact thing happened to me in my 08 Chevy trailblazer and my front end looks completely identical hahaha I'm happy I wasn't the only one but keep and eye out for them deer 🦌

This pass winter we were coming home from my daughter's in AC. We were driving up RT206 and it's 55 there but most people go a bit faster. Well I was doing about that speed and out the woods comes 3 deer. I got off the gas and missed the first two and than had to hit the gas to miss the third. I actually was steering towards the second one to try and miss the third. Kinda like threading the needle. Well the third one hit the driver's side rear door and quarter panel and kept going. This was at night so when we got to a spot with some lights I pulled over. I couldn't see any damage and it sounded like it hit us pretty hard. The next day in the light I could see some fur in the door crack and by the tail light. All I can say is God gave us a get out of jail card and boy were we glad.

Too many Bambi's and Rocky raccoons. We had an "almost hit" a few months ago, in the city near Cleveland too, whilst junkin at VOA. We also had to stop once for a duck family crossing. btw, Edie wants to hit those dag dern coonies.

Quite welcome! Hope it's helpful. I'm not that good with a camera, but in as much as I couldn't find any other video about header panel replacement when I hit that deer I decided to try to make one and that's the result.

Im a professional at changing those header panels and headlights hit a deer 4 times this year 4 header panels and two sets of headlights😂

Thanks for the info Rebel. I just whacked a deer otw home tonight and am pretty sure the header shattered behind the light on the driver's side. The light is not in the right place and pointing at the ground. lol

My girlfriend also hit a deer in my 2002 chevy trailblazer. I bought a header, grille, and headlights kit. The housing for my headlights seems broke. Will what I bought fix that or will I also need to buy a headlight housing?

You can get a bug guard that should cover the dent in the hood and it looks way better with a bug guard

Amazon...I think I gave about $75 for it new, but that's been a few years ago now and now I see they're up to $85 for the header panel. Got the grill there too, but I had to pick up the chevy bowtie emblem at a junkyard and then I got some gold color vinyl shrink wrap and cut it to fit the bow and then just heated it in place with a heat gun set on low.

LOL, wasn't my idea to meet like that. In fact coming up on it I saw it which is why I slowed way down, but in the position it was in I thought it was a red dog like an Irish Setter in the little roadside ditch...until it jumped out in front of me. I hit the brakes going about 20 mph before I hit it so I hit it at less than $20. It got up and walked away. I drove away after I cleaned up the shattered bits of grille.

A deer customized the front end of my dad's van quite a few years ago and he was not happy with the van so I bought it from him. It needed a hood a radiator and the rad support had to be pulled out. I had the van in my dad's garage and opened the door that goes into the laundry room and put a 4x4 across the opening and hooked a comealong to that and the rad support and pulled it out with some banging. We put over 265.000 miles on that van. It served us well.

I did get a slight ding in the ac condenser in the upper passenger side corner. Looks like it pushed it in closer to the radiator behind it, but it isn't leaking and the bolts are all still attached so I decided to leave well enough alone with that until or if there's a problem down the road. I've used a comealong before on vehicles. Pretty handy to have one, but fortunately wasn't necessary this time :)
