I don’t understand the importance of the clutch pack cover seal sleeve tool. Why shouldn’t the seal simply slide over and onto the steel shaft?

cuz the seal diameter is the same or slightly narrower than the diameter of that shaft and thats there for a reason as clutch pack box are usually filled with transmission fluid above the center which means oil can leak if seal is loose

What symptoms of failure are perceived to replace the double clutch? Is there any fault code?

So the answer to my question "Can I possibly do a clutch replacement myself on my DSG like how I can on a manual" is "FUCCK NO" unless I wanna learn German i suppose?

Don't buy a car with a DSG transmission!!! If they break, and they regularly do, it will cost a small fortune to get it repaired (3,5-6K)!
