Excellent video! More important reason to open bleeder while pushing piston back in is prevent forcing fluid backwards through system, especially abs module. Rotors were installed backwards. Slotted rotors the slot goes the other way. Non intuitive, but designed that way. Most efficient way to relief pad gases, etc.
@AutoFixYT
@AutoFixYT Год назад
Yes I agree with the bleeder part. If you go slow it'll be totally fine to not open the bleeder, but I prefer to do it because it also allows me to get some of the old fluid out and put some new fluid in, therefore keeping everything fresh. As for the rotors, I don't think the slots and the drills actually matter. What does matter is the direction of the veins inside the rotor. On this one they're straight, meaning you can install it in either direction. On some, the veins are angled and create a fan effect and start sucking air through the middle and blowing it out towards the endge. In that case you wanna make sure it goes that way, not backwards otherwise it will blow air towards the center where your hub and bearing are, and will not dissipate heat as well.

Excellent job on the front brakes as well. 90% of mechanics out there wouldn't do the kind of brake work you do! I also saw your rear brake vid again. I noticed that you did not put in some silicon grease/paste on the back surface of the brake pads where the large piece of metal clip go on each brake pad. Other videos show put in some silicon grease/past to avoid squeaky sound made when braking. Also, would you say the steps are the same for the 2010-2015 RX450h?
@AutoFixYT
@AutoFixYT 8 месяцев назад
Thank you! You don't necessarily have to put grease on the back of the pads. Sometimes I do, sometimes I don't. Usually there isn't really a need to do it for noise reduction since the pads have shims on them already and that's what those are for. If i do it it's for rust prevention, especially on the piston side. And yes, the procedure is the same for the 450h

NICE VIDEO ... very thorough. QUESTION - Your parts list link for the the 1A brake kit show rotors that are not drilled/slotted ... pictures show totally smooth surface ... WHILE in the video the rotors are drilled/slotted. So is the brake kit 1A web link not correct??
@AutoFixYT
@AutoFixYT 2 года назад
It must have not been available at that time and I didn't want to link a part that was out of stock so I linked these. Just search the website and you'll find what you need!

is there a difference between 3M silicon paste vs orange Permatex silicon ceramic brake lubricant?
@AutoFixYT
@AutoFixYT Год назад
If they are both silicone paste then they will only have very minor differences (temp rating, color)

Not if they're still good. You only need to replace them if they're broken or swollen.

Do you use the silicon paste for the anti seize product for the rotors or do I need to buy something separate?
@AutoFixYT
@AutoFixYT 2 года назад
You can use silicone paste if that's all you have. Might not last as long though. Also make sure you put a thin layer because unlike antiseize, silicone paste doesn't dry up and will end up flinging all over the place at higher speeds if you put too much. I've done it before, you just have to be careful how much you use.

Great videos and the back brakes went smoothly. What's going on if the caliper to bracket inner bolt (the one with the rubber grommet) is just spinning and the outer won't tighten? It's happening on both bolts. Did not happen on back brakes. Thx!
@AutoFixYT
@AutoFixYT Год назад
Thank you! Good question. Hold the slider pin with a wrench or some pliers, careful of the boot, and with it held in place you can tighten the bolt.
@daveemmington4188
@daveemmington4188 Год назад
@@AutoFixYT That's what I was going to try, but was just confused on why it didn't happen on the other bolts. Just making sure I understand, hold the inner bolt stationary with an open end and torque down the outer bolt. Right? Thanks again for the prompt responses and great step by step videos for a novice mechanic!
@AutoFixYT
@AutoFixYT Год назад
@@daveemmington4188 Sometimes it happens, sometimes it doesn't. It's random and you can never predict it. But yes, you got it right. The inner piece is the solider pin but the head has a cutout for a wrench. Like you said, use the open end and hold it while you tighten the smaller caliper-to-bracket bolt.

Hi bro I have an 02 camry So can u pls tell me how do i wire my oem fogs with my parking light
@AutoFixYT
@AutoFixYT 2 года назад
Yes that's correct.
@AutoFixYT
@AutoFixYT 2 года назад
It's complicated and not worth it if you don't know how to do wiring and how to figure out circuits. You also need access tl wiring diagrams so you can figure out what wire does what. There is a specific wire that tells the fog lights when your low beams are on. That wire is a trigger wire for the fog light relay. It's located in your combination switch. The fog lights on Toyotas only work woth low beams. And what you need to do is connect that wire that feeds off of the low beam circuit, to the parking light circuit. It's honestly more trouble than it's worth in my opinion but if you want to do it then go for it. Just keep in mind that you can burn out body control modules if you do the wrong thing.

If they do it right that's worth it. I'm not making a video on it anytime soon, it's not an easy procedure and things can get ruined very easily.

Put blue thread lock on those bolts that hold brake calibers and torque them to proper specs otherwise they will come loose from vibration and ... crash
@AutoFixYT
@AutoFixYT 2 года назад
Threadlocker is optional but definitely better than anything else I've seen before such as anti-seize and grease.
