I have these exact tires on my 3750FL Montana fifth wheel. I cant sat enough about these tires. This is my third season with them without a hint of issue. Have driven from Florida today to South Carolina in 95 degree temperatures and with my tire pressure monitor system my tire temperatures were actually lower than the pavement temp. These tires are made in China but that isnt a concern of mine. FYI, Had 2 Goodyear blowouts on my camper in the past so do be scared because its made over seas. The only thing i didnt see in this video was if you replaced your tire valves with High Pressure stems rated for the 110 psi rating of this tire. This is a G load tire and most heavy campers come with E loads which have a 80 psi rating. Your stock valve stems are not rated for this pressure. OEM Ford dually steel valve stems work perfect and are a true bolt in steel stem.

My Cougar 327RES has ST235 80R/16 tires. I want to put on Sailun S637s on. Most pics and your vid show 8 lug wheels. Mine are 6 lug wheels. Do you, in your opinion, think the Sailun will go on the rim?

I am getting them mounted this week. thanks for the heads up about the valve stems. What psi do you recommend?. I am thinking about 90 psi since wife has not overloaded camper yet.lol I do have the EZ tpms system for the camper and my truck. It seems to work great. Thanks Roy again for your advice. I live near Fayetteville NC and travel I-95 to SC to FL. All my blowouts on my toy hauler were in SC. I-95 is rough on tires for sure. Happy camping. added: footnote: purchased from simpletire.com on 4/13/18 and they were in my driveway on the 14th. shipped from PA. Not sure how they did that.

On June 10th I am taking delivery of an off the lot '17 Keystone Raptor 352. I was going to purchase the sailun s637's and have them installed prior to leaving. Upon pre purchase inspection I was happy to see that the 5'r had the sailun on from the factory. The same trailer in a different color had a set of arius tires. Your video on 5th wheels and trailers was key and I learned about the Z frame and once again was pleased to find out that our raptor has that type of frame as well. Thank you for all of the info that you provide it has been invaluable.

These tires are great! I have a 2002 Jayco Designer Legacy that we full-time in. When I bought the rig in 2013 I immediately put a set of new Hercules 235' ST's on the rig as the tires on it were not in good shape. I put about 7000 miles on those tires and then experienced a blowout causing $6500 in damage to the RV. Not wanting to repeat that scenario I researched upgrades and came up with the Sailun's which were also highly recommended by my local tire shop here in Florida. What is said in this video is absolutely true...these tires are really built and you can see it when making the "on the floor" comparison. My coach is topping out at around 15,000lbs. I run the tires at 110lbs and there is no flexing on the highway that I used to see with the E rated tires. On top of that, the highest temperature I've seen on the tires by IR temp gage is 117 degrees at about 100deg outside temp. This is well within acceptable limits. The tire guy explained that the cheaper E rated tires are a glass bias ply tire meaning that the plies run at angles to each other. Furthermore, because the sidewalls flex more, the tire generates more interior friction and heat which contributes to a shorter tire life and early failure. The Sailun's on the other hand are steel radials and the plies run across the tire which leads to less internal friction. I can attest that the E-rated tires consistently ran at 125-135 degrees under similar conditions. Heat destroys tires pure and simple so cooler is better. The tire guy says his contractor customers routinely carry tractors and heavy equipment on these tires with no failures. Now, I can't complain about the 7000 mile service life on the Hercules tires, but I can tell you knowing the way these things are built I feel much more comfortable on the road.

Upgrade your tires first! I had the super cheap OEM Freestar Radial ST F-108 tires on my toy hauler and other than tire presures and wear never thought much about them until I had a blowout. During a hurricane evacuation in Florida no less! Had to do a bunch of learning on my own and came to the same conclusion as this video. I ended up replacing all 6 tires (the spare got a different brand but still upgraded) with Heartland All-Steel tires from Discount Tire. Their construction is very similar to the Sailun S637 and Goodyear G614: Load Range G, 87mph speed rating and regroovable. Discount Tire was AWESOME, and my piece of mind is maxxed out. Consumer knowledge appears to be very weak on this subject and we need to get the word out about the importance of trailer tires. Thank you for the video. The previous comment about high pressures and wheels is spot on. Fortunately, my trailer wheels are rated for 110psi ( I have to look for the weight) so I was able to go to a Load Range G tire and take advantage of the higher psi. Please check first and buy your upgrades accordingly.

With those stiffer tires , you'll want to add the shock kits to that camper next. You WILL notice the difference on how it tows with the shocks. I also upgraded my 5th wheel to steel belted 10 ply tires (a name brand) AND the shock kits. Love them. Like you said , the cheaper ones are asking for trouble and blow outs. Yes , they are rated right AT the capacity of what the axle is sprung at , but why run everything right at it's limits , especially tires. Spend the extra money on the better tires and you'll thank yourself. Get yourself 2 spare tires NOT one.

May want to talk to people about that fact that not all 8 lug wheels on trailers are made to hole the 110 psi and they may need to upgrade the wheels to when going to the tires. Also most of the wheels are max rated to 3960lbs at a max of 110 psi some are only 3750 at the 110psi . My dads wheels at 3580lbs at 100 psi so people need to check this. Just a note that some people will no think about.

David Golden that is very true! As steel wheel will always be stronger than any cast alloy wheel! For an alloy wheel to have that kind of rating and strength, they must be a forged alloy wheel!

A Very True Statement. I plan on replacing all my Tires on my REDWOOD coming in the spring. Upgrading to the S637 Sailun 17.5 Tires with new wheels. The 17.5 Sailuns are 16 ply Tires and capable of 4800 lbs per tire. The new Aluminum Wheels are capable of 6000 lbs. So the tires will work very well. Also the 17.5 tires are 125 psi too. I am currently running the West Lake 16 tires on my Redwood with about 15000 miles on it.

Great stuff, as always. I did the same thing for my work 14K dump trailers. Spectacular difference. One other side effect is puncture resistance. Before the swap, I had been repairing tires at least twice a week; that's for only 16 tires total. After, once a MONTH! Not only does the tread pattern seem to shun punctures, but when something does get into the tire, I've actually had it go into the rubber, stop when it hit the steel plies, and bend over. The only minus; I can't mount/dismount these tires myself because of how stout they are.

Just remember that any Tire for a trailer has the same rubber compound. Yes the steel structure in side can be very different from Tire to tire. Parking your trailer in mud real pointy uneven rocks and ultraviolet rays will break down the tire. This Tire looks to be a great Quality Tire that will run well down the road but with neglect and abuse it will still break down like any other

As another comment, not all Chinese tires are bad. Good thing for us is it is really easy to tell a good trailer tire from a bad trialer tire if you have both in front of you regardless of the origin of manufacture. If you are shopping online, word of mouth is your best ally.

Great tires, and I agree about needing metal valve stems. 2 of 4 of my rubber stems leaked within a year, so I replaced them all with metal. I watch all your videos and I think you are pretty spot-on with your information. I have a Chapparell 5th wheel. That I plan to up grade on tires after are winter travels. I run Pressure Pro sensors. On everything. My 2001 Ford , the 5th wheel trailer the motorcycle trailer we pull and the motorcycle. I wouldn't go anywhere without them. Something I noticed when the tires were off your trailer . Your spring pins look dry. On my last trailer a Keystone impact the nylon pin bushings were shot in 2k miles. No use to have correct track with the junk suspension that's put on most trailers. I'm going install the shocks and wet bolt kit and better tires. To bad the manufacturer don't offer this on lower end RVs

For those wondering about what PSI to run with the Sailuns, I contacted them and was sent the following Load Pressure file - but I don't seem to be able to attach it so I'll give you a few numbers and you can extrapolate based on the size of your trailer and what the trailer manufacturer recommends for tire PSI: For the 235/85, single, a Load weight of 3200/tire = 65psi; 3640 = 80 psi; and 4400 = 110 psi. For the 235/80 tire, those same weights are 3000, 3420, and 4080. My trailer is a Jayco Eagle and is 10,000lb give or take. The manufacturer's recommendation tire pressure is 80psi so that's where I'll run them to start out. I intend to get a tire temp infrared gauge and will monitor wear on my trip to Fla coming up later this month.

It amazes me how many of these Fiver brands show off their walls, floorplans, amenities, cabinets, and you get to the tires and they are from Ho Li Fuk Tire company in Singapore. You say, "I wouldnt drive this (50k,60k,75k $$) trailer off this lot with that rubber supporting it". The salesman usually says 'Neither would I". Begs the question...why cheap out on what the thing rides on???? My friend bought an expensive Toy Hauler. A tire exploded 16 miles out from the dealership. Took out the wheel well and a water line. WTF?

That's because the wife generally picks the camper. If men did the interiors would be spartan and the suspension over engineered.

Sailun tires are not bad, Ohtsu isn't bad either, the only thing I would be worried about on 14 ply 235s is speed rating, 14plys are known to get a little hot because they are heavy rubber I would keep an eye on them. Seeing you live in the southern part of North America where the roads are hot enough to cook an egg it would be wise to put your hand on the side walls after a decent trip if they are really hot better let them cool off. The factory tires on your 5th wheel were shitty looking were they 6 ply tires those were a blow out just waiting to happen. You probably notice the trailer tracks a little straighter, you may experience rut steer as the rib design and stiffer sidewalls will follow in a straight line. Rut steer is when the tires follow the ruts in the road caused by heavy commercial traffic.

Very happy to find you saying this about these tires. Had a blow out soon after purchasing the 2018 Northpoint 377RLBH 43footer/16,000 pound last year, blowing out one of the Endurance tires which were apparently "overloaded" per the tire dude. He recommended these and they are a nice tire. QUESTION FOR YOU JD..... The tire says 110PSI as did you. The trailer says 80PSI Thinking about the manufacturer and what is "best for the coach from their vast research" or what ever should I keep them at 110 or what Jayco recommends? You reemphasized the 110psi on your video. I do have them at the 110psi at this time. They are wearing perfectly, if at all and the trailer follows the truck quite well.

They look good. It is to early to tell. The Goodyear tires are solid. The only downside is the cost of the G614's. They run around $380 to $450 a piece. NOT CHEAP. They do have a speed rating of 75mph, not a big deal to me. That may be an issue to some folks. A cheaper alternative is good thing.

Cody Baker, Absolutely. I'm all for making savings where appropriate, but when it comes to wheels, tyres and brakes (and suspension too for that matter) then I'm with Mercedes, who once coined an appropriate phrase... The Best or Nothing. My local tyre fitters even refuse to stock some of the really cheap Chinese brands of tyres. They let some of the locals have big discounts and pay in installments, with no interest, just so they have good and safe tyres on their vehicles. Always respected that, for the owner, it's not all about making profit. They prefer to really look after their customers the proper way.

Good tires are very important. I had a very good set of Michelin tires on my truck. I got a company car so I left my truck at my parents house and let my dad use it to keep the battery charged. The tires were warn but it was not a major concern to me as I didn't use it much. My dad needed to use my truck for a long drive and put on the cheapest set of tires he could find. Three months later one of the side walls ripped and it looked like a manufacturing error. My dad took it back and of course this damage was not covered so he had to buy another tire. I told him for what he had to pay for the new tire he would have been better off buying better tires in the first place. He really didn't understand this as he is too cheap for his own good and he puts cheap tires on all his cars thinking he is saving money. I really can't complain as I did need new tires and he paid for them but I would have eventually put on much higher quality tires it just was not a priority for me as my company allowed me to daily my company car. I don't work for that company anymore and now I'm stuck with a new pair of cheap tires that don't give the same ride quality. Cheap tires don't save you money and they are not as safe. I don't want to replace these cheap tires for a while because it will hurt my dad's feelings as they were a gift but I can't wait to get them off my truck.

I may have missed this in previous videos but have you had your truck front, truck rear, and trailer axles weighed with the trailer attached to the truck? If so what is the weight?

Do the folks at discount tire normally mount tires that you buy online or is it one of those situations of one store telling you they will and another telling you they wont?

So I'm looking for the Sailun tire in the 14 and having no luck. Do they only make them in the 15" and up? I have a 28' Jayco TT and looking to swap out the factory tires. Any suggestions? 205/75R14

I need to swap out OEM tires on my gooseneck with a set of these. It probably has around 8000 miles on it, but these sailuns look great. I bet it would be minimal but I would think you'd get a bit better economy and lower rolling resistance with these.

Will do on line this morning looking at the tires kids and wife are sleeping on the RV. My tires are load range E at 70 PSI from the factory as marked on the side wall of the tire. I see the Sailune S637 shows max PSI as 110 that's quite a bit do you run yours at that PSI? Need to check my rims don't know if they can handle 110 PSI. How would I know? Is their a marking on the rim? No idea

Hey JD. I have a 2016 F350 dually. I recently had a flat tire on the rear inside tire driver side. I was fortunate enough be able to pull off the interstate immediately into a weigh station... which made it ideal for me to disconnect my 16,000# Chaparral 392MBL 5th wheel (just like your old one).. jack up the truck and put on the spare. My question for you is this... if I have a 20 ton jack, do I need to unhitch the 5th wheel from the truck before make the tire change... or must you always unhitch in such situations? My concern is that jacking it up with the added tongue weight might damage the truck axel at the point where I am placing the jack. Thanks for all that you share! Happy Thanksgiving by the way. bg

I bought a set of these for my toy hauler. The tires I am replacing have an 80 psi max and the new ones are 110. Only buying four leaves me with an 80 psi spare. Should this be a concern?

Interesting video and thank you! Any recommendation for a stock 15 inch wheel on a Fifth Wheel? Does not look like Sailun makes a tire in a 225/75/R 15 size. Looks like the new Goodyear Endurance or Maxxi M 8008 may be two decent choices for this size wheel. Not as heavy as the Sailun mentioned in the video but are available in the size of wheels that came with the Grand Design rig. The Goodyear BTW is made in America so that may be a plus. Any thoughts?

My apologies for not remembering your name. I'm looking into purchasing a 5th wheel and living in it full time. I travel from site to site, sometimes staying in the same spot for over a month. Rent/Housing prices are very high here in Colorado right now. As you know, Colorado's weather conditions change by the minute. I need a true 4 seasons trailer. Could you do a video in R-values and what to look out for in purchasing an RV/Trailer for full time living? Example; double pane windows, R-values of slides, anti-freezing techniques for fresh water/black/gray tanks, running two AC units, residential reefer, washer dryer hook ups, water heaters... etc. This would be hugely informational and helpful. Thank you!

Vegard Claussen you will need to get in touch with the manufacturer to find out the four seasons rating system on their trailers. From what I've seen, the truck campers are less subject to low temps and freezing cold than travel trailers. But the class A's can be built even better to stand the cold, but are expensive. The Airstreams have decent cold temp properties also. But keep in mind for any of them, you will need a very good generator to be able to heat the tanks and all The plumbing to keep from freezing! Plus carry enough propane to keep your camper, no matter what style nice and warm. The reason the truck campers and class A's can endure the cold is the undersides have an extra layer of protection from the elements, because of their construction. Good luck!🍀

Hi there big fan and just bought these tires...How do I acquire the TPMS sensors that will work with my 2017 F250 TPMS built in trailer TPMS
@BIGMIKE54ify
@BIGMIKE54ify 7 лет назад
on all the trailers I tow I run either truck tires or car tires I never run trailer tires to many blowouts with 1 year or newer tires
@BigTruckBigRV
@BigTruckBigRV 7 лет назад
Michael Deethardt: I actually use to believe in running LT tires on trailer, but stopped after I saw a real ugly few blowouts. I know that Lt passenger tires are generally underrated, but they are also not designed for the type of wieght oscillation with suddenly spikes in pressure that a trailer puts on them. These Sailuns are significantly more robust than both LT and standard ST tires.

Awesome and a good price.. My Goodyear G614's were about $1200 for 4 with tax and free ship from Amazon back in July.. So did you get steel valve stems and get them balanced? Good Luck
@BigTruckBigRV
@BigTruckBigRV 7 лет назад
Kenneth Sievers: they didn't have the larger steel ones so they used HD fatty stems. I did get them balanced
@michaeldoherty2289
@michaeldoherty2289 4 года назад
Did you balance them? How easy was the balancing if you did...... I am in the process of buying new trailer tires and I have narrowed it down to 2 brands of 14 ply rated tires. The S637T Sailun's and the Hercules H-901ST. They are very similar tires. The Hercules is just slightly heavier and has deeper grooves between the ribs (14/32" vs 10/32" on the 235/80R16 size). The H-901 has a 72 month material and workmanship warranty and a full replacement warranty for 50% of the treadlife if the tire fails due to material or workmanship. Sailun has a a very similar warranty of 72 months but I am not sure about full replacement if the tire fails in the first 50% of tread life. Here in Spokane the only Sailun dealer is WalMart and the Hercules tire is sold by many independent shops in the area. Not sure which way I will go.

I'd like to know more about TPMS. New Fords have TPMS built into the truck, and can connect to a trailer as well. Do you know what type of system is needed on the trailer that will transmit/connect to the truck system? Ford sells a valve stem system, but it's quite expensive. Any suggestions?
