Replacing My Jetta TDI's Rear Springs Myself (I'M NOT A MECHANIC!)

In my last video, I attempted to remove the lift kit out of the front of my 2006 VW Jetta TDI, and replace the front struts MYSELF, and man was it tough! Now it's time to get the rest of the lift kit out of the rear of my car, and hopefully this goes a little more smoothly! I may have left this a little too long...these springs are, well, you'll see...!

Absolutely love the "Go Get It Done Attitude", i have 2 grown daughters now, i taught them both how to change a tire, windshield wipers, brakes,and oil changes. And just watching you change out coil springs, struts, tires, e.t.c. makes me smile like a proud dad, young lady you are doing it, and doing it right.! As a Father im proud of you. Thank you for taking us on your journey, Bless You and Be safe ❤

Meg - you are going to need to drop the "I'M NOT A MECHANIC!" line pretty quick. You are now a mechanic. You made that happen.

Excellent job! Catching up with all your videos - brightening up my day! Your happy-go-lucky commentary hides a serious amount of careful research - you give it away with your references to parts (sway bar) which you wouldn't know without reading them somewhere!

Thank you so much Bernard! I appreciate all the support. Yes, there is lots of behind the scenes research that goes on before entering these projects, and then a bit of research during as well! Thanks for being here.

Them springs! How?! 😂 You really do a great job at creating quality content for only producing them for a few months and such a good concept in general. Excellent job on tackling these difficult automotive projects as well. Quite impressed at how easily this stuff seems to come to you and your dedication to completing the task at hand. Keep it up and I think you’ll see massive success in the world of RU-vid content creators. I’ll certainly be along for the ride.

Those springs were definitely worse than I expected lol! Thanks for the kind words! I do a ton of research before and during these projects and sometimes I do have to ask for advice along the way but I'm definitely feeling more confident with each project I complete. Thanks for watching and the support!

@@Meg.August …and you reply to the fans! Going to enjoy that while it lasts (knowing I’ll be just a dude WHEN you’re super famous). Honestly though, You’re a natural at this stuff and much more skilled than you might think. When do you drop your vids? Weekly? Hope so…I suggest trying to do that. Your fans will appreciate it and it makes it easy to remember when your new stuff drops.

Every bolt needs penitent sprayed on it. And use anti seize when replacing to make it easier to take off next time

The part people tend to leave out is when doing the lift kit you should swap over the the tiguan springs. Just using them without the pucks will give you about a 1.5 inch lift. The other thing is the front you need to add a roll control kit/camber plates to fix the camber issues. In the rear get a set of aftermarket toe arms and adjustable camber arms, and yes you can use the really cheap one. I have an mk5 I built from aliexpress parts just for fun. So far, almost 3 years on the lift kit.
@Meg.August
@Meg.August 4 месяца назад
Ya, I had researched into that, and that's what I originally wanted to do, but I didn't have the funds, so went with the $30 lift kit on my original clapped out springs - bad call! Now I have those wagon springs and struts all around, and I only spent $70 total. Not quite the full lift I wanted, but it's getting me around for now. Maybe I'll do a proper lift kit like you did in the future. Thanks for watching!
@TinoR626
@TinoR626 4 месяца назад
@@Meg.August you can also run tiguan rear struts/front as they are just a tad longer but fit with no issue once lifted. They give you some extra travel in the strut. I would not recommend going with the Tiguan h&r lift springs as it makes the rear end a little light and it will float on you. I made that mistake and now just have them sitting.

the tang end of the spring has to be located correctly.

The black sockets are designed to be used with impact tools. They are manufactured to be far stronger and resistant to cracking. The shiny chrome sockets can crack and shatter when used with impact tools as they are more brittle. I've had it happen to me and was only using a breaker bar, not even an impact wrench.

It would be wise to use safety gloves and safety glasses when doing this type of work. Other than that- good gob!

So you're not a mechanic and playing pretend acting like it's some feat when men have been doing shade tree stuff for years and aren't rewarded for it like women are esp on youtube when every little mistake would get a man flamed. These edits are disingenuous as you had help
