Quickly refurbishing my Peltor RangeGuard electronic hearing protection with some new gel cups after the original foam ones deteriorated.
On my Howard Leight ear muffs I have also done this, but they just simply snap into place. The Peltor muffs require a bit of technique.

Pro tip: If you can't get the adhesive off, dab some hydrogen peroxide on the adhesive for 5-10 min then push all of it off with your thumb, it'll clump together (don't bother scraping with a razor, you'll tear up the muff)

Good tip. I didn’t bother with it, but it would probably give more thorough adhesion. I use these as semi-disposable loaners so didn’t invest much effort, but that is an excellent piece of advice for folks using these as their primary hearing protection. Thanks for the tip and helping us keep our hearing safer.

Any idea on how these compare to the Noisefighters Sightlines? I just ordered a pair of Sordins for myself, and I'm wanting to upgrade the Peltor Tactical Sport 100s that I'm now handing down to my wife.

Not sure, as I haven’t used those others. These are just the relatively cheap Peltor RangeGuard muffs. They’ve worked well for many years at this point, though. I have two pairs of these and a few pairs of the Howard Leight Impact Sport. All have satisfied my needs, which mostly involves just going to the range and having enough pairs to loan out to my group since I take a lot of novices shooting. I guess it depends on your expectations.

@@ColterBrog the Peltor Tac Sport 100s have been great, but I'm thinking the gel pads will just make them that much better. I guess the hard pill to swallow is the Noisefighters costing almost as much as the Peltors, the more I see about the Prohear it seems they stack up pretty well, they just lack the eye protection relief cut.

@@GriffXJAh. So in my situation the eye protection cutouts wouldn’t be very meaningful. The sun glasses I typically wear and can be seen in several of my videos when I’m shooting paper are Randolph Engineering aviators with the bayonet temples. They’re flat enough that they fit comfortably with motorcycle helmets or ear muffs just fine. A little spendy but they’re made in the USA, the optical quality is great, and I’ve had the same pair for over three years now and love them. If I am shooting steel I will wear either Pyramed I-Force with the elastic strap which are Z87 or a pair of Z87 rated safety glasses with straight temples I got from Academy. I forget the brand. So, in short, I have adapted my eye protection to be compatible with ear muffs and helmets rather than adapting the ear muffs.
