Here we replace the spark plugs on a 2015 BMW X5 xDrive 35i N55 engine.
In the video I recommend in addition to purchasing the spark plugs, I strongly suggest also purchasing a vent hose for the valve cover. This vent hose becomes brittle over time and it's nearly impossible to complete this maintenance without breaking it. You will need to purchase the correct one based on if you have a blow by heater or not. You can find out by visiting www.mdecoder.com and checking your VIN.

Boss just FYI NEVER use anti-seize on a BMW engine. The spark plugs are already nickel plated (anti-seize) from the manufacture and do not require anti-seize. The main reason is when anti-seize is used it creates a multiplying effect when you torque in the new spark plugs. This can lead to deteriorating treads and cylinder head damage over time. Most spark plug manufacturers advise against using anti-seize on spark plugs. BMW engine repairs are not cheap. But other than that great video!

BMW always makes sure a simple procedure like spark plug replacement is a very complicated ones on their engines. I'm gonna replace my X5's spark plugs soon too!

These engineers didnt design this with maintenance in mind. Thanks for the video though, had no idea what I was in for! Now I know I need to give myself plenty of time...

Thanks for your video. Great job on the details. 1) What’s the part that you mentioned should be preordered due to likely breakage? 2) What’s the torque spec for the spark plugs?

There are 2 options for the vent hose-you’ll need to identify if your car has “blow by heat” or not. The links are in the description. I torqued the plugs to 17 ft lbs.

@@bmwdad5128 just got a 2015 X5 And it does a little jumping when I hit the gas a little hard… Im guessing it’s the spark plugs since I had the same issue with another vehicle… And how much does it Cost???

@@diegobarrera2437 Sounds like you might be experiencing some surging. Could be a great number of things. How many miles on your car? Have you replaced the spark plugs ever? How about the air filter? Any check engine lights on?

BMW trying to discourage owners from performing their own car maintenance so you have to take it in to a dealership to have it done there at a premium. My wife’s Volvo XC90 was so simple I completed that task in about 30 minutes by just removing the engine cover and coil packs.
