I should clarify something...I must have cut it from the final video. I did NOT like this on voice...though I didnt mind it on the instruments. Perhaps that clarifies my final comments in the video

Original sounds better IMO, more natural. The third party capsule has a weird resonance.

I agree. I think the info on micparts' website might not be correct. The circuit is linear but the nt2a appears to use a ck-12 style capsule and not the problematic k-67 capsule that they tend to complain about.

Time to buy a cheap soldering kit (electronic dice, an audio amp, ...) and practice. This is a skill every DIYer should have. It did not look like your sponge was wet, necessary for cleaning your tip. Also, having a clamp for holding the board helps a lot. Nothing worse then have the board scoot across the table while soldering. For repair/rejuvenation this sounds like a good technique. Thanks.

I know the website recommends the RK-47 capsule in the NT2A, but I think the CK-12 would have been a better fit for this mic.

Hello @Dark Corner Studios ! Can you please make a guide on setting up and EQ for a Dynamic mic nad condenser to get that kind of rich clean and nice sound you have? Another thing i want to ask is how to make your voice over blend with the original video its made for so that it doesnt sound totaly apart from video? Unfortunately i didn’t fine switch part anywhere on internet. Can anyone help me out?

@nerdyneedsalife8315
@nerdyneedsalife8315 Год назад
Doesn't the Roswell use the same capsule though? The RK47 capsule? Maybe the circuit is also an important yet overlooked aspect of the mic
@reread2549
@reread2549 Год назад
@@nerdyneedsalife8315 the circuitry is super important, but I have to say that they probably do not use the same quality of capsule or what is the point of the capsule upgrade? The NT2A has positioning features than the mini K 47 from Roswell does not. I own the Roswell mini K 47 and the mini K 87, but I do not own the NT2A. My comment was made as more of a cost effective reason. You can buy the Roswell 47 or 87 and get all the high-quality circuitry already including the capsule without soldering. Thank you.
@nerdyneedsalife8315
@nerdyneedsalife8315 Год назад
@@reread2549 I did a poor job explaining myself, I am not saying the Roswell mics aren't worth it. Instead I think they are totally worth it. What I was saying is maybe the demo of this mic wasn't all that great because the circuitry didn't compensate for the new capsule. I agree, I would rather buy a Roswell Mini k47 or anything else on their catalog as it makes no sense to spend quite a bit on an NT2A to then spend even more on the capsule. However, I just didn't want people to watch the video and assume mic capsule replacements are not worth it. As an example, it would make more sense to replace the capsule and circuitry in a cheaper mic like the MXL 990 or 770. Since everything about the mics would be changed, the mics would essentially serve as a donor body. If people wanted to upgrade their mics and are fine with tinkering, I would recommend that as a hobby mic over the NT2A. If you wanted a mic with a 47 inspired capsule, get Roswells.
@reread2549
@reread2549 Год назад
@@nerdyneedsalife8315 yeah understood I’m not nitpicking here. And Roswell upgrades for AT2020’s , MXL 990s and 770 are definitely cost-effective as well as if you pick up a NT1A used on the cheap , and do the Roswell upgrade. It’s a true win win situation. BTW: I kept my Roswell mini K 87 and sold my Roswell mini K 47 because the K87 was a much better fit for my voice. I also wanted to pick up a Lewitt pure tube because it’s an affordable stripped down version of the Lewitt 1040. We will see if I regret my decision or not😂

I don't think the K47 works very well with the NT2A circuit. I think it pairs better with a tube circuit design. For the NT2A circuit, maybe a well made K67 type capsule like the Luke Audio A2 or A4. I think for mics with a flat face basket design, the center terminated capsules work best. Due to the center termination, creating a dampening mass for reducing plosives. But im no expert, just shower thoughts. For edge terminated, round basket design is good, because the round face of the basket, helps disperse plosives before entering into capsule. Like the 251, edge terminated, round basket design, tube circuit. NT2A circuit is sort of like the TLM103 circuit, using a hex schmidt trigger inverter, hence the low noise and high sensitivity....so naturally...I would think something for capsule with similar design....k67 pattern-esque...heck maybe even a K103 capsule by Neumann :).

Like a full page of verbal upchuck, but I'm probably exaggerating as the memory has irritated me over the years...haha. Turns out they source their capsules from one of the better Chinese manufacturers, then way overprices them. JLI is a much better choice, same quality, much cheaper. Let me tell you the Truth... The Brass machined parts of all capsules except,Soyuz,Neumann and Telefunken are all made in China... what's important is the Mylar Film thickness and quality that is skinned on brass capsule... All Chinese capsules are Chinese made out of 3 micron Mylar Film while Quality Mics have 6 Micron Mylar Capsules... Manufacturers don't want you to know this cause if you know this fact they can't sell you new Mics anymore!

The original is waaay better....i have listened to that rk47 capsule on a lot of videos and it sounds like shit . Nasal and dark . The original 47 is a lot different . The nt2-a is just a great mic, price is not in the conversation. There is no "upgrade" if you buy a more expensive mic, you only get a different frequency response . I know this because i have toyed with a lot of condensers as a recording artist, so, buy balanced, don`t buy the name or price tag :P
@violincredible
@violincredible Год назад
@zilamike (sorry, very late to the party) You nailed the real point. Totally agree. Over the last 15-ish years my trusty old pair of nt2a have superbly handled everything from the sublime to the ridiculous. When I need a mic with different capabilities/features/characteristics/flavour, I use (or borrow, rent, 'test drive', whatever) a better mic for THAT job. But "upgrading" the nt2-a via a 'Frankenstein' capsule transplant? No, that's not a thing.
