Just replaced my fan in the same NVR and I cannot believe how much quieter it now is!! - it’s made a massive difference. Many thanks for uploading. The Noctua that arrived from Amazon UK came with a Omnijoin adapter which allowed me to use the two pin plug from the old fan. I was able to push the excess cable out of the back of the PSU so it’s nice and tidy inside.

I just bought a house that has one of these installed. I'm stunned by how loud it is. A fan mod is on my to-do list.

I appreciate replacing noisy fans. Not sure if this mod is neccessary or advised. Your video and audio productions is superb. Usually noisy fans are the product of RPMs, Blade design is a factor but not by much. You can't reduce the noise and RPM unless you go up in fan blade size and in the confined space of a NVR/DVRs you are limited. Because you didn't use the ps power port I consider it a RIG. You ran the fan power out of the supply to another power source. I am questioning why the system fan is missing from that NVR. I thought perhaps it isn't needed but I see POE ports so that would add power demand to the unit as well. The fan you replaced is designed to specifically cool the power supply. It is designed to run at a continuous RPM. The Delta model fan specs: rated 30.5db Noise, 8200 RPM, Air Flow 9.4 CFM (0.263m³/min), Amp rating of .100A, Power consumption 1.2W. The Noctua fan at highest RPM is 5000 RPM, with Noise of 14.9db. My concern is the RPM is reduced almost by half, this translates to reduced air flow which would increase the temperature of the power supply components. Since this unit does not have the secondary cooling fan the power supply fan has to pull in all the air into the unit and exhaust it out the back. The reduced air flow would also raise the temperature of the hard drive and the system board and the air flowing over the power supply would be hotter before exiting the chassis. Add in a second hard drive with the higher heat load is experienced and the increased power demand on the power supply. I would be interested in measuring the BEFORE/AFTER temperatures of the unit. That would be interesting to know. Its possible an early death of this NVR is forecasted.

Hello, I am in the process of replacing the fan in my dvr as this is becoming increasingly annoying……with regards to the 3 pin to 2 pin fan cable I can’t seem to find this online as most of them are 4 pin to 3 pin. PLEASE HELP!!!

You didn't compare the CFM because on the Delta it says 9.43cfm or 0.267 m3/m is this correct? The noctua puts out 9.4m3/h or 0.151m3/m. I just converted it and you can feel there is reduced air flow. I I'm only going to run four cameras but what's this airflow going to do for my NVR overheat???

I'm looking for a new camera supplier and was wondering if you do sales in the USA? I purchased all my hikvision cameras and lpr from Nelly security but I'm not doing business with them anymore due to how my system needs were handled. I'm in the process of yanking all the equipment and starting over again. I will need a nvr and License plate recognition camera along with some deep learning cameras? Can you get me hooked up?

I'm thinking about modding the nvr I have as the fan on the heatsink is bad. Problem is the fan is in the heatsink. I was hoping I can put a thin 120 mm fan on the cover and solder the wires to the pin for the fan and I might be able to but the heatsink might be a few millimeters to big. I don't want to have the fan on the outside but was planning on using those metal fan protectors. Hopefully I can figure something out

Since the wires are very thin, you can also use the connectors seen in this video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-G5aJZV4ICnw.html

I bought 2 noctua fans, 1 for PSU 1 for the case. Now the case fan is working, but PSU wont work with the noctua fan. When I insert the old fan it starts spinning. The noctua fan isnt broken cause if I plug it into the case fan port it works. Anyone knows whats happening?

Just put the NVR into a tech closet/basement with all the other equipment and not on a desk like you would put your computer. Remote access exists for a reason.

Do you think the fan header in the PS and on the main board are both constant, or do they turn the fan off an on as needed? Just wondering if there could be a situation that the PS is running hot, but the main board fan header is saying, "Hey, the board is cool so shut the fan off" and your PS smokes? Just a thought. My Hikvision is wayyyy to loud. I'm ordering that fan right now and I think I'll just cut and solder the existing connector on, that way no issues.

My hikvision has 2 fans. Will this mod work since the plug you used is for the second fan? Also what happened to the plug the original fan was conected to in the power supply box? Thanks again
@samsar598
@samsar598 4 года назад
George V Hey, I had the same issue, having two fans in the server. Sometimes these Noctua fans come with 3 to 2 pin adaptors themselves and sometimes not and a sachet is provided like in this video. The instructions on the box say how to use it, it is called OmniJoin adaptor. you will be using the 2 pin connector of the existing fan and connect Noctua’s fan to it. It needs a bit of cutting cables, but nothing major, you should be fine.

What is the longevity of this mod like when your running all 8 cameras via POE? Currently using a 7308 hyrbird DVR which I had to replace the PSU in but it was a fairly standard PC PSU just in an SFX size. the Delta one sounded like a jet engine and ironicly it was only rated for 80w the replacement can do like 300w XD Want to move to full IP soon but want to have a fairly quiet solution that I know wont fail on me. Wish Hikvision would ditch delta for their PSU's Delta have a history of making the loudest fans :|

@@antoniosergiovaranda2128 My 7616 is a non POE model. it had an external 12v power supply from factory and so I just unplugged the case fan. Still running strong. Though I am down to 2x Hikvision cameras as I am ripping it out. but 4 years of zero fan and its fine. I am 99% sure you have a POE model as your asking about power supply. The reality is only fan modding is an option as the PSU in them is odd. it has 48/52v output for the POE side of things
