How to replace the oil pressure switch on a 2001 to 2008 Peugeot 307. If you have an oil warning light on your dash but when you check the oil in your engine it's at the correct level, one possibility is that the oil pressure switch is faulty. The replacement part I used was a Metzger 0910102 and only cost €4.15. The torque setting for the switch on this particular car is 30 newton meters (22 foot pounds) Thanks for watching. What you should point out is that the clip on the electrical connector is usually positioned in a place where you can't even get a fingernail to it.

It is a negative logic sensor, so "guilty by default until proven innocent" (here: pressure too low by default, until proven sufficient). In the first state (too low pressure), the electric circuit is closed (the control lamp on the dashboard lights up). In the second condition (sufficient pressure), the electric circuit is interrupted inside sensor (the control lamp is off). So you check the sensor itself like this: you unscrew it from the filter base and check with a multimeter by touching one probe to the sensor metal housing and the other to the pin from the plug. A closed circuit should appear. If not, the sensor is burnt and discard it. If it is ok, then take a hydraulic tee, mount this sensor in it and a dial gauge which will show the numerical values of the pressure. You will see when the sensor disconnects the circuit - is the correct pressure. You assemble tee into motor, into the sensor socket and start the engine. You check whether and at what pressure the sensor disconnects the circuit. Now you have all the data whether this sensor is still working well or whether you can throw it in the trash.

Hi No the light / warning / engine management etc are all Off. Just jumps for a second like a petrol misfire or water in the system. Mostly until the engine reaches working temperature. I'm an old guy worked on all my cars but this 307 hdi is driving me NUTS. Can't afford to change it and don't want to sell a Lemon to anyone. Worst car I've ever had. My 406 and 306 , citreon BX, Ford focus's all bloody great. Cured any problem myself no worries. But this has been 1 problem after another, spent 3 grand on it in 2 years in parts.🙄😔 thanks for your time 😂👍

If the dipstick is showing the correct level of oil, then the oil level sensor could be faulty. It's usually located on or near the oil filter housing.

hello, in my 307 car, it writes low engine oil pressure warning and it gives instantaneous when revs decrease. especially when the engine warmed up. If I replace this part, will it be fixed?
@screwsnutsandbolts

It could possibly be a faulty oil pressure switch. It's quite cheap to buy so I would change this first and see if it fixes the problem.

I have a problem with the oil light on the dashboard, it doesn't light up at all, atleast on ignition. The light itself works, it can turned on with tester, I also have a new switch. It should light up on ignition, right?

Yes the oil light usually comes on when you turn the key to the 'on' position and then goes off once the engine starts and you have good oil pressure.

Maybe one of the wires is grounding somewhere. I read this on a forum: "You should be able to check if its the sending unit by grounding the wire at the sender to the engine case. The oil light should come on (power on). All the sender does is provide a ground when there is no oil pressure. The sender could be stuck with the circuit open so you never get the ground signal."

I haven't worked on the 1.6HDi so I'm not sure. It's usually located close to the oil filter housing.
