Replacing the solenoid and glow plugs on a Universal marine engine

In this video I show how to check and replace the pre-heat solenoid and the glow plugs on a Universal M3-20AC marine diesel engine. This engine is in our Catalina 28 sailboat.
Solenoid: Sierra International 23-5800
Glow Plugs: NGK (6325) Y103K
Note that the solenoid is often listed as a starter or generator solenoid, don't worry, it is also used for the glow plugs in this case.

Ah a repurposed Ford Starter Relay for your glow plugs. Very common as it was a very well designed component and very cheap. They can switch huge current easily. The little silver two terminal component is likely a circuit breaker (auto resetting). Thanks for sharing. Cool little engine. Will be around long after we are all gone. LOL.

Yeah, especially since it doesn't run for more than about 40 hours a year. It's a 1993 and just now has 800 hours on it.

@@MicksWorkshop Like some of my lathes some years. LOL. BTW which saw blade do you like for your band saw. You and Nell (Nells Mechanical Mancave) caused an issue here where one of the HF (Chinese Embassy) saws followed me home.
