Just a suggestion, The alternator on this model of Grand Marquis and Crown Vic are simple to remove and only takes about 5 min.Removing it will give you more room to work on the water pump.
@bah53 Hey thanks for the reply. I'm just going to replace the whole compressor eventually. I'll just have to hope it doesn't shred my belt when I'm on my way to work lol
What happened to the fan clutch & fan clutch fan/blade?? I don't see it, my '95 Lincoln Town Car has them and I need to change them, how easy is it to do the job/change the parts??
@03SilverMustangGT I wouldn't say that its dangerous to drive with bad compressor bearings, the worst thing I can think of happening is the compressor completely locking up and shredding your belt. I have no idea how much of a pain they are to change because I haven't done it on this one.
question.. the hose that is connected behind my water pump is leaking, is water pump bad or is it the hose? it leaks coolant and causes my car to overheat, I currently have a 2002 grand marquis
@@dangelolove1914 hey I had to get my intake manifold gasket replaced it’s basically taking the engine apart and fixing it, it ended up costing me a lot of money around 600
@bah53 hey how did you learn to change the water pump? i have a grand marquis and i have 0 knowledge about mechanic . i was wondering what book would you recommend for some1 like me, i also have a grand marquis 2003
@CARLOSMENCIAS If you just want to figure out how to fix your car then I would say get a Haynes or Chiltons repair manual or better yet a factory service manual for your car. If you want to learn about how cars work in general I would suggest getting Automotive Service by Tim Gilles. It explains how pretty much all vehicle systems work and has a ton of pictures.
I have the same problem with my Grand Marquis, same year as yours. Is it unsafe to drive with bad ac compressor bearings? And was it a pain to change the compressor?
Excellent video. Excellent photography. You are very orginized. But I'm wondering about the water pump gasket. Did I miss that part? I've got a 4.6 liter with 115,000 miles on it and I'm not sure if the water pump has ever been replaced. It's not making noise or leaking, but I'm thinking of replacing it anyway as preventive maintenance. ... Thanks again.
