You made everything make sense. At first I thought this was the power steering considering the easy access but I had temp issues for a minute with it saying, "low coolant." The bearings must have locked up, the belt squeaked at low rpm and went away at high rpm when the belt already defeated the friction, and busted around the corner on my drive back. There's oil everywhere from a lower oil leak and that's what let it last long enough to get home. I can save my car for $50 thanks to you. I know it's locked up because I can't turn it by hand at all with the belt off. Oof!
Lashaun Bryant there is a little bleeder valve on the coolant rail that uses a 10mm wrench. You open that valve while the car is running. If there is air in the system, the air will push out. When it’s a steady flow of coolant, all the air is out.
Man, this is the most concise and very in formative 3.5 liter video on the water pump replacement. I have to replace mines as the coolant keeps leaking and the water (coolant) stains are evident on the underside of the hood, - also evident from the white smoke that emanates when i dump the accelerator. Thanks a lot man!! I can save about $80
Thank you for giving me a look with the air filter case removed. With your video I'm now confident with what I suspected. I don't plan to do the work myself, but I now know what the issue is.
She's obviously lying, or she is a blonde that a mechanic shop is trying to rape her... the car is not even valued at $900... thank you showing this video, helped me knock out this job for a friend in 15mins for under $80 pump & coolant & a new belt.
Some of them don’t have one. You can loosen the bottom line to drain it. But in actuality, you will maybe lose a quart or so from the water pump housing.

Adam Duchateau Phillips head screwdriver, 3/8 drive ratchet to remove belt from tensioner, 10,12 and possibly a 14 mm socket Also a few torx set. Pretty simple.
Two options: 1 fill coolant system with car off. Make sure it’s filled up to fill line on reservoir. Once done, start the car with heater on high and watch coolant level to see if it drops. If so, fill it up. Watch for bubbles. When the bubbles stop, the system is fully bled. Option 2: there is a little 8mm bolt that is connected to a metal water line. That is a bleeder screw. Fill up the system, put cap on and open bleeder screw. When system is bled, no air will come out of the system.
Thank you for creating that video to remove the water pump. Did you remove the thermostat and the timing belt also or are you going to do that another time?
Johnathan Sanders the thermostat is straight forward on these. It’s only two bolts that hold it into place. This motor runs on a timing chain. I will probably do videos for those later.
I’m trying to figure out the issue to my windshield wipers. The hosing isn’t clogged and I think it’s the pump. Is that the exact mechanism that functions the water to the windshield wiper blades too?

Do you have a video on how to flush this stupid car. I have stop leak in cooling system that didn't work out to well. Need to flush system but no video for a 2006 or 2005 Malibu. Been frustrated like crazy.
Blackman Freeman sorry I don’t have one. But I’m sure that there is a drain on the bottom of the radiator to drain it. If no drain, remove bottom hose and let flow into into a container. Then replace the hose and run water through the system. And then drain again. There is a pretty good chance that you would have to replace the thermostat. I will try to upload a video for flushing the system in. The next few days.
@@Icanfixit-2 it's definitely a grinding noise, and whistles when first started cold.... At first I thought it was timing chain noise but I tracked it down with the old screwdriver stethoscope trick
Oh ok yeah mine is leaking not 100 percent sure where it's coming from but it seems like pump I hope it's not the intake gasket they have alot of problems with those
