Replacing axles on 25 year old low boy trailer Texas Bragg 18 foot trailer New axles 7K each Tires delivered by CenTex Direct Wholesale centexwholesale.com/
First time watcher. Was looking for advice as I'm take on a trailer rebuild. This guy was talking my language, easy to follow. And when the horn went off, I knew he was talking to me.
Great video fellow Texan! Very helpful. I laughed when the first horn went off and busted out when the second one went off. That always happens when I'm up under something.
You prolly dont care but if you are stoned like me atm then you can stream pretty much all the new series on InstaFlixxer. Been streaming with my girlfriend recently xD
Thank for posting sir. My only comments to add after replacing the axles on my dump trailer would be I would have been better off cutting the u bolts instead of spending several hours man handling them only to have them bend at the end anyway. A new u bolt set of 4 costs $28...no big deal to replace. I also wish you shown connecting the electric brake wires. Thanks again
@@LewisRenovation Thank you! I did enjoy the video and found it very useful! I actually have an old trailer from my grandfather that is very similar to yours even the side rails look the same, well the axels are completely trashed and was thinking replacing them to keep her alive rolling. People have told me not to bother but it really doesn’t look scary doing it after watching your video. Thanks again
Did you install the axel above the leaf springs? I noticed the old axels was under the leaf springs. (@8:50, The video shows your axel is above the springs.)
Yes, get the right length of axle, and then a bracket already welded on the axle will be in the right spot. I think axle length is hub to hub face but probably should look that up to verify.
What did you end up spending in the end for 2 7k axles with 4 rims and tires ?? I’m trying to figure out if i should do the same to a car hauler I’m building.
@@LewisRenovation okay that’s not too bad especially with new 7k axles and wheels and tires that all should last enough years in time to pay them self off for all your hauling capabilities thanks for the response.
Hey, your hitch ball is upside down........ (Sorry, since you pointed it out) Damn, you went BEEFY on your swap. I'm doing a 3500lb to 5200lb dual axle swap on my 15' enclosed. One thing I recommend for you is one of the those cush/sprung axle equalizers made a big difference on fore aft shifting.
