There is a ~1" spring for the oil pressure regulator that is not mentioned anywhere. It will likely fall out when you go to remove the cover. Probably best to remove the bolt holding it before removing the cover. It takes a T55 and sits just under the oil filter housing
I didn’t know for sure , but usually those plastic gears are the main cause for overheating. But I have seen a head gasket issues too. Take water pump cover off and try spinning it , it should have a lot of resistance! If spins are easy than the plastic gears are stripped.
@@brycesanders5402 I used flat head screw driver to pry clip open and some wire cutters. You will need new clamp. Harbor freight and most hardware stores have them. If you can’t get crimp style clamp you can use regular hose clamp.
I took mine apart due too overheating issue I followed your steps but when installed everything back together I noticed oil mixing in with coolant in the reservoir it started changing to a dark color . By a chance do you know why is oil mixing in with coolant?
That’s not necessarily true I just put a new head gasket on mine brand new motor less than 200 hours sunk in water changed the oil about 10 different times still can’t figure the shit out any ideas other than head gasket.
Took mine apart gears are fine but found a brass washer and a spring inside which I have no idea where they go. I have the parts diagram and i see nothing. Help??
I don’t remember seeing a brass washer anywhere. There is washer that goes over one of the bolts that hold outside water pump cover. And I think there is bigger washer on water pump shaft that is held with a pin. Is the spring really small? I think there was a small spring behind cover alignment pin, the pin just sets in hole. It’s been a while since I took mine apart. Parszilla.com has really good diagrams may be try
No, it never leaked out weep hole, even when gears broke. But after I recently had to replace cover and put new water pump seal in it started to leak from weep hole bad, put another water pump seal in and it still leaked only when driving, did the 3rd seal and bow only couple of small drops so far. Your water pump seal needs to be replaced for sure to fix the week hole leak unfortunately. It’s not too bad of a job just pain in a butt digging/pulling old seal out.
my canam x3 is heating up easily , no head gasket symptoms and no water leak , all fans working as it suppose to , but after 10 mins of medium cruising , temp starts going up
It overheated almost instantly even when idling . Bad thermostat would take longer to overheat because little bit of coolant still flows through little bypass hole before it opens up, when gears break there is no coolant flow at all and engine will get hot within almost instantly.
