Your dad has some skill with that skid steer rolling up the rubber. I thought you were going for a ride there for a second when you went to hold it down haha
Years ago had a odd job: cutting a hundred steel wall truck tractor tires into smaller pieces and removing them from their rims. Had the same power tools as you, plus more, and had the same issues where none worked ideally. In the end I found that using an extendable bypass lopper to be the fastest & easiest way to get the tire off the rim and cut the rubber into small pieces. It was faster. There was no smoke. No tools vibrating like crazy. and overheating Just snip snip snip. The steal in your rubber is thicker so it would probably be the end of the loppers for you. Something to consider in the future.
I could not be more excited to see your new house go up. You have worked so hard doing farming, RU-vid and selling merch to be able to make your dream come true. Awesome!
Going with the deeper basement means great usable space in the future for a family room or extra bedrooms. Good idea Eric.Do you still want to sell the rubber in one foot pieces after seeing how easy it is to cut lol. Great video as usual, thanks till next time.
I have Anti fatigue matts in front of my kitchen sink and stove. I bet your ladies like that new rubber just as much. The foundation is starting to look really good, pouring the footings is exciting as there is no where to to go but up after that.
Hey animal rights activists watch this video! Here we see a farmer busting his ass to make sure his cows are comfortable. Yet there still mistreated? I’m so glad channels like this exist to prove them all wrong.
You're right ...but I still want to see Eric greet and scratch the head of, and kiss on the nose, every "lady" every morning, before milking...and video it for "us"...then I'll be 🥳...🤣😂🙂🙃🤣🙃😁
I have used a circular saw with a crosscut blade. The wires need to be small for the wood blade to nip them. Need someone pulling the cut off piece away so the blade doesn’t bind. Not an easy job!
Oh yes I remember as a boy visiting my grandmother down in mountain Grove Missouri those cold and Chrisp mornings and helping with the chores around her farm Eric thank you so much for all that you do happy holidays to you and yours stay safe from Missouri Jeremy
What's it like working with your dad every day? I doubt if my dad and I could cooperatively work on something like the two of you do. Also, that rock needed some TNT.
Great video as always. What kind of barn was the heifer barn on the other farm used for? You don't see many 2 story block buildings around. Just wondered if you might know.
Always looking after the herd. The new mat looks good. Hopefully the rock removal in the new basement doesn't put you to far behind with the building of the new house. I like the cows with entirely white heads. Very cool. Stay safe
Yes, $5 a square, great Christmas present😜. Then new rubber mat looks really good quality , dry cows say thank you. Basement dig will be done in no time now.
Hello mate. I have a few questions to ask you. what are your experiences with the slatted floor? Which is better: slatted floor or scraper ? do the cows have problems with their hooves on the slatted floor, and does it smell a lot because there is fertilizer under it? How often do you clean with a tank? Thx
Not sure when this was filmed, but pretty sure the forecast for that area is cold cold and colder. I would think that holding on the concrete might be a good idea.
The biggest mistake I've seen in home building is in the basement waterproofing. Everyone always thinks that it will be good. So they don't go the extra mile to waterproof the heck out of the basement. If your basement leaks, the repair cost will be in the thousands. So spend the extra money now so that you wont have an issue in the future.
Note: Cows have the same emotional intelligence as dogs. The two cows that wanted to talk to you when you were explaining/showing the old rubber mats were doing the friend-or-foe test. They like to be acknowledged ;)
Another great video Eric. Nice to see progress on your basement dig. Smart move having 9’ walls in your basement & presumably in the entire home build. Good to see you using safety equipment ie ear plugs, face shield etc. You’re so fortunate to be able to work with your dad.
I love all youre vids. Soo nice Farm! I Hope i can make a short visit one day when i‘m in the Staates one day. God bless you all an be saved in Jesus Name! Say hi from Switzerland☺️🙌🏻🇨🇭
I remember you asking HVAC for the new house. Fan/duct system with 2 stage blower and sealed and insulated ducts has advantages of lower cost, ease of use and install. 👍
@@dhenschel4 maybe not needed. Passive heating/cooling through inefficient ducts can be improved upon. Sealing seams and insulating ducts is a low cost diy project. Just duct tape the seams/connections and wrap with flexible insulation wrap. Depending on the use of the basement add ducts as desired. This sealing and insulation provides efficiency and accuracy of the hvac. To each his own.
I'm always astonished about how much work there is to be running a dairy farm and how many skills you have to have to do. Good video editing and commentary as well. Best wishes and keep up the good work.
metal cutting circular saw blade may have cut thru that pad. And next time when you have overlap, raise up the pad about 5 feet from the overlapped end to make that end snug, nail that end down, then have the skid steer push out the rest of the pad.
The digging on the basement was pretty difficult because of the rocks, but they are getting it there. The new rubber matting you and your dad put in the dry cow barn was tough to do, but you got it done. I'm sure the cows are going to benefit from that process. Thanks for sharing, have a great weekend.
Hoof health is a big deal at dairy farms. Cows aren't ment to walk on concrete all day so it can really bruise up their hoofs and cause ulcers and stuff like that.
You can buy special rescue angle grinder cutting discs that might be good for cutting mats in future. They are designed to cut everything. Glass, wood, metal, concrete rubber. Just saw them in shop the other day,
Cutting the rubber...been there done that😂 a rubber melting moment. Don't know what they use in the factory to cut it but found the skill saw with the right blade faster than the rest with less smoke. Purhaps a feature rock or 2 in the basement ? They certainly have been difficult to remove. Is the basement going to be just storage? Basements are not normal in my country so can't imagine what they would be used for
Utilities, storage, kids play area, maybe a wood stove, and can be finished for living space or bedrooms if we wanted in the future. Also is a storm shelter.
