Thank you for the tutorial. I have a tomato pin cushion that is 48 years old and finally started to fall apart. I decide to reuse the wood shavings inside it. Took it apart and I finally know where all my machine needles and hand needles disappeared to. In that little tomato I found 25 machine needles, 30 hand needles and numerous headless pins. I will be trying one of your ideas. Thanks again.

Thank you for doing your new thimble. I bought two pink ones when you came to Pigeon Forge. One was for my boss (35) who’s name is Jenny, who is not a quitter or sewer at all but is now in remission from breast cancer. I also ordered the breast cancer quilt kit from you guys and got the sweetest note which I will give her when I finish her quilt. Thank you ALL so much for your continued encouragement! Praying for you!🙏🏻🙏🏻

😊 I am so pleased to have just happened upon your pin cushion tutorial! Now I know what to do with the cute little "plant holders" I admire but pass up... Jenny, I taught myself to quilt about 5 years ago, determined to learn, I found your tutorials and I'm totally addicted to to the entire sewing/quilting process, and to The Missouri Star Quilting Co! Your bubbly personality and "down home" approach sealed the deal!! Thank you. Btw, I love your thimble cup!!

Hi girls, I made a pincushion (round ball-like) and glued a golf tee in the end of it with the wide side inside ball and put it into a spool of thread to hold my sewing needles when I am hand-quilting or sewing. Great idea to not lose my needles. It looks great on my spool of thread. My quilter friends really liked them as quilting stocking stuffers.

A local ceramic shop had the thimble and friend of mine got one and painted it silver before she gifted it to me and I made a pin cushion out if it. I put some small clean rocks in the very bottom to add stability and I used handquilting thread for the gathering thread. Several friends fell in love with it so I have been making them for birthday presents for them.

I made these to sell at our last quilt show. I used rickrack, buttons & ribbon that blended with fabric, (e.g.bee button with fabric that had bees on it & ribbon that look like a tape measure); I used lace and some small rhinestone pins or buttons to glam up a few of them; I used doilies too. I used metal & ceramic sugar bowls and all sorts of small ceramic flower vases, etc. It is my understanding that the walnut shells help keep that needles sharp and I used a combination (like Jenny) of walnut shells and polyfill. So fun searching for items.

I don’t know if anyone has mentioned using wire wool! I make pincushions with anything and everything and I stuff them with wire wool ( used for rubbing wood, down prior to painting) it has the advantage of keeping your pins and needles sharp. Love your work ladies.

Love watching your shows! They are informative and entertaining as well as funny! I'm a new quilter and I am working on my 2nd quilt. I'm 70 years old, my first quilt I made 20 years ago, I gave it to my then mother in law. She loved it. My second one is Full of errors, however, I love it! It's called the joy of quilting, I guess! I am making it from the Violet Hill collection from Moda. I really love that collection. I have made some mug rugs from left over squares. You are all very pleasant and I enjoy the time I spend watching your shows.

I’ve been told that the walnut shells sharpen, but also that the oil in them keeps the pins clean and rust free. Don’t know if it’s true or not. You can also buy emery online, which sharpens. Another tip: I keep a ball of crochet cotton thread to use for gathering. It’s very strong and lets you pull your gathers tight.
