When you line up the zipper, you can use a glue stick first to hold it in place.

Do those two long edges get finished or pinked? This tutorial does leave the side edges raw/unfinished and they could fray, right? Wondering If I blinked and missed something. It IS possible. LOL Thank you!

Lovely pouch, I suggest french seams for the sides to avoid raw edges inside, thank you ladies!

Be better to sew a narrow binding on the inside or a serge seam . Not possible to do a French seam .

When installing a regular zipper, I found a real easy way to maneuver your zipper pull around your presser foot. When you get to where you need to move your zipper pull out of the way, (while you're sewing) needle down, presser foot up, then take your seam ripper and stick the pointy end into the hole on the zipper pull , turn your fabric around a few times until you can push your zipper pull down the other side of the zipper that you just sewed. Easy peasy and a lot easier than trying to get your finger's n there to pull the zipper out the other side..

I think French seams over two layers of zipper would be impossible. You might be able to bind that interior seam if the raw edges bother you.

Hi, I think this is the second time I've watched this, and since then I have purchased a bunch of these zippers from you. I have a couple questions. Do you sell those pulls so they can be used on the zipper portion that is cut off? (because some of the zippers I bought from you are very long . . . I wasn't paying attention . . .) Also, do you have a tutorial or pattern for a boxy-type pouch where these fancy zippers can be installed across the boxy top so it all shows nicely? Thank you so much! (BTW, Jenny, that is how I was taught to install zippers in clothing -- over a basted closed seam! Home Economics class!)

Well, my first time even trying to put a zipper in and did it wrong, while ripping out I ripped the zipper with the ripper so had to throw that away and still not sure what I’m doing! I’m so frustrated. I can quilt but I have no idea what I’m doing with these. I need the camera close to the machine or I’m lost! 😤😤😤

Bags are my nemesis. Even when I try my best, something goes awry. Usually the corners have too much bulk. Also, these seem to have raw edges on the inside which I'd like to know how to avoid. I feel your pain!

Super cute ladies!, may I suggest? If you see the edges with a French Seam, all the raw edges would be enclosed and it wouldn’t be that much more work. Thanks and have a wonderful holiday!

When sewing on the zipper, "what if" you used contrasting thread and a decorative stitch? Also these would be great for making project bags. You could piece the back with a plastic window. That way you could line them up on the shelf with the pretty side out, but could see through the back without opening it up.

Today is the 1st !! I had to sit and look at my box for over a week wanting to open it sooooo bad ! Cute cute zippers, Jenny. I see a "hard to shop for" gift for one of my DILs fill with lip gloss and body spray.. I also create in chaos - its the only way. Jenny you're the sister in my head. Can't wait until tomorrow!

I really love this! So cute and so many possibilities! If you were wanting to put a D ring and make a little loop strap or maybe even a D ring on both sides and add a cross body strap how do you put the loop in there (the D ring)? I’m trying to figure that out.

I love making these. I put pockets on, I appliqué, I quilt, bead, you name it. I make the lining fabric a couple of inches longer than the main fabric, then when I turn it there’s a cute little inset of contrast fabric where the zipper goes. I saw that method somewhere, I do wish I could remember so I could give them credit. Thanks for all the great videos, Jenny. I learn so much from you, both as a beginner quilter and now that I’m more experienced.

I think these would make great pillow covers. If you used longer zippers, you could make bigger covers. Made square, it should work.

I cannot tell you how much I enjoyed my Christmas Box. I am 83 years old and I felt like a child every morning in anticipation of the day’s surprise. I use the cup every day for my cold water and it works great. The clock hangs on the sewing room wall, in front of my machine, next to a window. I think that this is my favorite item, but, I like it all. Thank you.

I love how easy you make this! I'm traveling overseas this summer with my sister, and wanting something easy to have on our long flights, I bought inexpensive daypacks and added a lining with a great side pocket on one side, and a pen/pencil holder on the other, and they will be our bag to keep by our feet. I also made a small zippered pouch with a wrist strap (to hang on hooks or knobs) to take to the lavatory. Washable, of course! Thanks for your great tutorials!

This is a good idea, but If you stitch with right sides together, around all edges of your 2 squares, and leave an opening for turning through in the side (not only close the two ends) turn through and edge stitch opening closed, then keep going with adding your zipper, then when you go to sew up the side edges after putting in the zip, there will be no raw edges inside.
