I earned my lesson the hard way being young and dumb. Bought an F-150 I knew may cause me issues. Just signed the papers. Anyways I found myself in a situation where I couldn't keep up with exact payments 6 months straight and it got repo'd. Let's just say I still owed 11,000 after the truck was auctioned off. I was basically paying debt for a truck someone else was driving when you think about it. I paid it off a while back but man, definitely take your time when buying a vehicle and don't be embarrassed to get something within your budget to avoid these things young fellas

@@georgiapatriot4575 Yeah, I've watched his videos too. I think the BMW i8 fiasco was my favorite. I'd never buy a flood, lemon buy-back, or rebuilt vehicle. Year's ago there was a Chevy dealer in California that dealt heavily in lemon buy-back Corvettes. They had near new cars with low miles and about $5k less than other dealer's used Vettes. The catch was all were lemons and had no valid manufacturer warranty because of that. GM bought those cars back because they couldn't be fixed and this dealer bought them from GM for resale. I feel sorry for whoever bought those things.

Most states require a broker to purchase vehicles from copart. Fees paid to broker then paid to copart literally add a $1000 to price of vehicle. You also didn't mention the titles and warning people about junk and parts only titles. Also wrecked vehicles can get a person scammed really fast. People buy completely destroyed vehicles then put different fenders, bumpers and hoods to hide massive damage costing tens of thousands in repairs. Then they send vehicle back to the action. Unsuspecting buying sees it thinking it won't cost to much to fix. Most people buy from website never actually seeing vehicle in person before bidding on it. Unless a person knows what they are doing, do NOT buy from copart. Too many videos on RU-vid of people getting scammed buying from copart.

@tinkerstrade3553
@tinkerstrade3553 5 дней назад
You can get scammed anywhere, by anybody. I often go to estate auctions, and it applies there just the same. Farm equipment sales are bad about fresh paint to hide structural defects in tractors or combines. Things are cheaper at an auction because it is the buyers responsibility to be informed and observant and in person. Go early, have testing equipment, like a decent scan tool, a strong jump pack. Enough all purpose tools to tighten a battery cable or something. Also, look for sabotage. At a car auction, I have often found disconnected ground wires, missing rotor bug in old style distributors, and most often, keys hidden in some obscure place in the cabin area. Wanting a cheap deal, buyers will find a vehicle they want, but fear it'll be above their price range, so they make a runner into a non runner, and the value greatly decreases. Skullduggery abounds in the world these days.

Copart has a program called Copart Select which has clean title cars that can be bought by consumers. There is a yearly fee to be part of Copart Select, but; you don't have to be a broker to get a car. They give a condition report on every vehicle, but; you still have to exercise caution.

I told him that I still roll up my own windows in my 09 Patriot. He sounded flabbergasted. Like WOW. So, people won't even be feeding themselves. Someone will invent a spoon that does the work for you and some dip[shit will write, "I don't know how I ever lived without my self-feeding spoon". Yes, lane assistance and all these safety features are nice, but they should be reserved as an option, not standard equipment. I'd bet a Subaru could sell for at least 5k less if they didn't add their stupid safety crap to the car. And yes, it's stupid because I'm 60 years old and I cannot remember the last time I got into an accident. It's called turning your head and looking at where you are going.

@channell11

It all depends on who they can find to buy it. Some people will actually make up the difference with the down payment because they want it so bad. But you're right in that stopping the practice would curtail it a bit. It's kind of like where we're at now with the high interest rates. Not being able to afford the financing keeps a lot of people off the dealership lot.

CAFE standards and such have made it impossible for the older style Chevy S10 or Ford Ranger size trucks to ever be built again. A truck that size these days would have to get something crazy like 40+ mpg because of the physical size being smaller. They base it on wheel base size and a handful of other little things. That's why trucks over the last 20+/- years have gotten larger in size. You look at a 1995 Chevy 1500, a half ton pickup back then, that would be considered a mid size truck today.

It was to be $3000 or $😅 more than the cost of the final bid. Be careful you might have some costs. They're gonna put you upside down on a rebuilt title vehicle. The time you pay mebership fee good for one year they will not tell you what the buyer's premium is! A few things to remember before buying through copart: -Many states don't allow buying directly through copart auctions, meaning you'll likely have to work through a broker and brokers fees can be substantial. -Copart fees can really add up. I bought a 98 Rav4 through them and while the bid itself was for $900, the out-the-door price was $1400 (sans broker fees because my state doesn't require it). -While yes you can find cars in good condition, most are in some form of disrepair, and the pictures almost intentionally don't do justice for what damage the vehicle may have. Don't ever buy unless you can see the vehicle in person, are mechanically inclined, and have some idea of what kind of issues a vehicle may be hiding and what it might cost to fix. -Copart yards DO NOT allow any tools in their yards, not even diagnostic or scan tools, so good luck knowing if that car has any trouble codes. -You are buying that car AS-IS, meaning if you get one that's hiding serious damage that's too expensive to fix then you're SOL. I'm really leery when channels prop up Copart. Sure they bring the auction experience to the masses, but when so many people don't understand how these auctions play out they're set up for failure and Copart banks on this

I bought 2 Camrys from copart few years back. One 2007 Hybrid $1800 and needed a hybrid battery, $2200. I also got a 2003 LE $850 + $300 shipping from about 400 miles. Needed a head gasket and a radiator. I have been and still drive the 03. Sold the 07 18 later for what I got in it. My experience is good with copart. Few things to watch for. 1. Auction fees are not included in price. About 10%-20% 2. Transportation. If you can't drive it out or too far, figure about $300-$3000 shipping 3. You can have the vehicle inspected before buying. It's about $150 on site inspection by a different company 4. Runs and drivers doesn't mean it runs and drives good 😂. Expect some repairs. If you can't fix it yourself as I did then it's not worth the saving on price, shops will eat you alive. 5. They will not let you run loose in the lot like Brandon. At least the ones I have been to. You will be escorted to see specific vehicles. 6. Titles may not be ready and you may not get all the paperwork and it can be misfilled. Copart will take care of it but don't be surprised at the DMV when they ask for more paperwork. Some copart lots are total AHoles. But the majority are fine.

@channell11
@channell11 4 дня назад
Maybe so, but the reality is that trucks like that don't sell. People aren't buying stripped-down work trucks with roll-up windows, rubber floors, and the cheap stereo except fleet customers. The market demand is for trucks with more features than a Cadillac because people that never get the bed dirty want a brawny vehicle to drive to school and the grocery store.

Look for a pull-a-part type junkyard. At these, you go and you pull the part from the car out in the yard. Prices are so much cheaper. I did this and paid $40 for a good fender and $50 for a good door. Stupid things like a wiper mechanism that the dealer charges $149 for just the motor, I pulled the entire thing that bolted in my car with 3 bolts for $14. The yard I go to has a full service yard across the street and I look at the prices. Both by the same owner, full service is pretty consistently 5 times the price of the pull-a-part.

That red Ford pickup has been in a frontal accident, just look at the colour unmatched and the unequal gap on the hood. As for the Sienna, I doubt it will “buff out”. However, there’s a solution. You can have it buffed until there is no clear coat anymore and have a new coat of clear. Did it, it works beautifully to preserve the original paint.

my wife has to babysit me in the junkyard cause ill come home with a truckload of crap literally XD. last time we went, I came home with 50 dollars worth of sensors toyota charges 40 to 90 dollars for a piece, and then sell em to parts stores. cause the junk yard is like "the heck you got there, and im like, its a relay" paid 75 cents for a 62 dollar PCM relay the other day for a toyota sienna. If left alone to long id have every relay yanked outta everything in there lol.

The reason you don't see small trucks is there is an wheel base->MPG equation that no manufacturer can meet stemming from EPA guidelines. That's why every truck is gargantuan.

Copart isn't really a viable option for people that aren't dealers. The buyer's fees, broker fees, etc. really eat up any savings that you might have gotten at the auction.

Even with gap insurance, some have limits of 150% of nada or acv. I have had a few Hyundai where ins paid their acv, gap paid up to 150%, and customer still owed. One great benefit with a credit union is that some do not offer gap, but loan pay off in full
@VinniePepperoni

They need to build what customers want not what they feel or think the customer wants. Chin high bed rails and 6 grand special ladder tailgates to compensate for the insane height vs user friendly tradesman farmer type stuff not 100k plus over complicated garbage that needs the entire cab lifted for routine repairs which are way way to often

To explain the reason, the blue tundra is at salvage auction, it could be a theft recovery. If a vehicle is reported stolen and not recovered in a reasonable amount of time, then the insurance company will pay out the owner. Subsequently if the vehicle is recovered then it belongs to the insurance company that is already paid the claim. Even if the vehicle is not damaged, it will receive a branded title or salvage title. Then they end up at a salvage auction even though there’s nothing wrong with them. This is very common for motorcycles.

One of our workers had one of those small pickups. The bed was huge! His friends would steal his truck from him to use it - I suspect it's because you couldn't buy them anymore at that time (he was one of our workers in the 2005-2015 time frame). The large bed size was all that mattered. Didn't need back seats, didn't need to be 10 feet off the ground, didn't cost $80,000 I'm pretty sure it was a Nissan, 4 cylinder. "Make it practical (large bed for hauling), make it cheap" (the interior does not need to look like a Lincoln or Mercedes fergawdsakes)

Saabs run forever (even with a turbo) and still have a great following. They're easier to work on and not nearly as expensive to work on as BMWs I own 5 Saabs, my brother has 6 and I've owned 5 other different Saabs before. My 2002 Viggen manual has 200K miles and doesn't burn a drop off oil, still pulls hard and feels solid!

I bought a MBZ 450SEL from CoPart years ago. It was a beautiful car with nothing wrong with it, except one thing. It would not smog (here in CA). So, I took the car to a dealership and traded it in for a car that would smog. It was a 1976 MBZ that was "donated" to a church and the church put it in at CoPart for sale. I paid $300 (OTD) for that car (in 1993) at CoPart. The dealership gave me $3500 on a trade-in value. So, even if the car has a problem, buying a car at CoPart can be a good thing... I liked that MBZ but it sure did suck the gas down when you "got on it" to get on the freeway. Heck, my old 1973 Cadillac with the 502 cu in motor got better mpg than that MBZ... Where did that MBZ end up?? At a dealer auction for some dealer to have to deal with the smog issue.

I loved going to junkyards back in the day looking for parts…hard to find parts, had a 1968 red ford mustang..I once had to climb 3 cars high, piled on top of each other, to remove a part in the summer and the wrecked car was full of stinging wasps…I don’t think you can go into many junkyards these days? 😊

Your going to see more late model work trucks. Here in NJ home of the anyone can be a handyman are starting to feel squeezed. I take care of my work trucks. 250-300k on our pick ups, transits etc not uncommon and they look and run great and I get premium when I sell them. I laugh. Most expensive new truck in our fleet was 39k. Now trucks 2-3 yrs old i now am seeing for sale parked ( not only not making money but costing money) at competitors fancy rented office spaces have more than that left on loans with 1200-1600 monthly payments for 72-84 months HAHAHA Good for me as they’ll go bankrupt I’ll seek out there clients and or their “good” workers that don’t have jobs for so they’ll come work for me as I always have had work for 40 yrs.. cause even as owner I drive a true bare bones work truck cause I’m not greedy nor stupid!!!

We rewrote the fuel mileage laws and basically made small pickups like the ranger illegal. They're not classified as a full size pickup so they don't get exempted from the gas mileage rolls and they don't do good enough on their own to meet EPA requirements.

ive not seen a bank yet that will allow the consumer to make their regular payment after the car is totalled.. what I typically hear is that the bank calls the loan and so its all due at once.. customer cant pay it so they have to take out an incredibly pricey personal loan, or it goes unpaid, banks gets a judgement and their wages are garnished and they are buying cars at a buy here pay here for the next 10 years... I wont buy a car without GAP.. I get laughed at all the time for it.. but it saved me once! on leases its always part of it (or I wont lease the car)..back in 05 I bought a new chevy colorado loaded.. and first day I had it.. got rear ended and totalled it... it was a 30,000 truck that id put 0 down on (sign and drive event).. and literally first day the ins company only wanted to pay 24 on it.... GAP covered it and I went N got another truck
