Your reports are a reflection of you as an officer, Judges, prosecutors, the media, your area partners, supervisors, attorney's ALL read your reports. It's one of the main parts of your identity and reputation as an officer. Take the time to learn the art of great report writing. It's worth it and can affect your career!
I had a cop write a report for the first time in my life. He wrote only a few words and he left out 90% of what I said. This drastically changed the meaning of what I said.
Well, cops have different types of reports, a handwritten report is often shorter, a computer-filed report is usually much longer and are filed after a lot of calls and Shootings, Arrests, Citations, etc etc
