Yes. That is crazy!! Best vets were back in the days like 20 years ago. 35 dollars for most visits. Thank the everyone should go to college deal where now they need to pay for masters degrees and brainwashed into selling you drugs and Science diet.

@@muddyfeetaussies oh, yes they do. They sell it in their clinic and make a profit. And they sure as heck profit off all the sick animals that it causes. my roommate in college was a vet student. For the four years I knew her she and the rest of us in the house received free science, diet, dog and cat food for our animals. That was back before I knew better. They start early with those students to indoctrinate them into the idea that their food is wonderful.

Ohh Putridina is watching? How TIMELY! In early Dec. 2023, I had a death in the family, had to travel and my Rotty was at the vet for boarding for 4 days, they fed her Purina HA Salmon. When we got her back, she was throwing up. We fed her the normal home made food that I make and she was fine. No other meds, no other treats, etc. I will NEVER buy Putridina products and am telling everyone. EVERYONE.

Then Rachel, stop quibbling about kibble. It's either healthy to feed kibble or it isn't. It's either a health risk or it isn't. I've heard parents state, "I can't afford, fresh fruits and vegetables for my children." Can't and won't are not the same. I've been poor, and my children went without certain things, but NEVER nutritious food.

Please read my message I not sure if you did but stuff the varroa mite it's what they are using its inside the food it's spreads like an eboli effect parasites but they form together inside our bodies and attack white blood cells plus dehydrate us it's a fast kill please find this info study so you can put a stop to it being in everything we all deserve to know this it's 100 percent true I've saved my babies I rescue they developed an immune to it if they survive it the first time usually but they still get in their skin and ears that's why it's a sudden death nose and ....... we can all see it use a green dish put some water in it from fountain and take cell phone pic you can see it even on top and in urine. Beware of toilet paper it's covering every inch of it not sure if it's the plastic covering they attract to but do know they have a small spark when lit on fire on socks ??? White and brownish black. Black are the males white are females and alot smaller to see

Old vet told me they never had bone cancer in dogs in the 50,60,70 but started in the late 80 and it got really bad in 90 and now

Yes we are making our own dog food now cuz 1 dog has cancer & 1 dog is allergic to chicken.. is it from melamine in Purina chicken feed that made chickens refuse to eat it last year? We make dog food w meat, veggies & broth in the slow cooker, blend it then seal it in canning jars every weekend. The dogs love it.. real food!

Hello, Purina, I have been feeding my dog your brand, and the last time I ordered a bag of your food, I thought I ordered the wrong food It looked so different. Called The company I purchased it from and they said that there was a change in the formula! My dog knew it was different and refused to eat it. I KNOW if you changed formula it is to SAVE COST FOR YOU! Im done with you!

Please, please make a report to the FDA. Do it yourself. It is a long cumbersome process. But without your report, it is like it never happened. Your vet may not take the time to do it. And if you are not sure if it was the food that made your pet ill, still make the report. Your report does not confirm that the food caused the problem, just that it is possible. There will be no investigation without a complaint. If you report to the company, do not accept anything that results in your silence.

I have been feeding puppy chow a little over 6 months now. Does this mean well I suppose I will have to stop and feed my puppy now purine puppy chow. 😢 I have had cookie tested but no worms or parasites 🦠 but she is not eating as good as she used to. She did have diarrhea and we the vet and I have treated her and I have not seen her with diarrhea again. I’m just really concerned.

If I'm in the grocery store and see people buying crap food and treats for their pets. I tell them. I'm not shy when it comes to pet foods. Some are interested some not so much. At least I told them which makes me feel good. Thank you Dr. Judy for everything you do for our pets. Love you !

Here is my 4 ingredient dog food recipe that helps our almost 11 y.o. Dutch Shepherd: 5 lbs human grade chicken thighs (pressure cook 1.5 hours in water with a splash of vinegar) 4 cups dry barley cooked in the broth from above chicken. 5 lbs carrots, cooked 2 lbs frozen peas, defrosted I add fresh eggs from the hens daily in season. He was poisoned by someone else's lawn chemicals as a puppy and cannot eat any commercial dog food , but is healthy on the above diet. Best wishes to all!

@babalu-oc6iu Yes. We have an Omega macerating juicer that will grind the softened bones into paté. Now that we are raising rabbits and sheep, he gets all of their organ meat as well. Sweet potatoes or pumpkin can be substituted for carrots. Another commentor told me this isn't a good formula, so please do your own research before following my recipe. Blessings!

I'm commenting on another comment here, I agree!! I am certainly at the point where I am about to just give up eating all together so that I can afford to buy all of the 'human grade' food that he needs to eat, then cook all of my dog's food myself & never feed him processed dry dog food ever again! But we, as pet parents, still need to be very careful! Just because it's 'human grade' doesn't always mean that it's perfect! In a lot of ways it can be just as bad!

My dogs eat what I eat- grass fed/ free range/ pasture raised/ wild caught beef/chicken/ fish/ eggs, with a few raw veggies for a little texture and a tablespoon of rice. I also put a little olive oil or coconut oil on their food, and give them my grass feed collagen. I got to the point I was spending $75 a bag for the Castor Pollux grass fed grain free food and said enough is enough- I can feed them steak for the price I'm paying for a dry kibble, that's ridiculous! It's much easier feeding them what I cook, and they LOVE it❤❤❤

Thank you for your time.My poor kitty had diarrhea for 2 years I was taking my cat to a number of vets. They ran test. Couldn't find anything. One suggested my cat had cancer and asked if I wanted to euthanize my cat. I'm glad I told him no, I knew they were poisoning people with processed food, so I'm not surprised they are poisoning pets too. What greedy peop!e do these days. I honestly don't know how they look in the mirror each day.

I have been feeding our cat purina cat food from the vet for years, but recently, the cat stated vomiting minutes after eating the same brand purina from the vet , can food and dry food purina cat food from the vet . They changed the formula. I noticed the smell and texture are different , the food turned black after an hour. No more purina for my cat .

My dogs refused to eat the beef first two years ago. I switched to chicken and then they stopped eating it too unless they were starving. I have since changed to a different organic food and the stomach and stools are so much healthier.

I have fed purina for years cats and dogs, my furbabies have lived from 19 to 20 human years long! I have not heard this until now. But my new puppy has recently had bad diarrhea, I took her to the vet and she had a 💩 sample no bugs like worms or parasites, she did have some freeze dried treats that I thought she had reacted to, vet and I treated her and she did get better. She is being treated with Simparica trio for fleas tics etc.. she’s had he vaccines , and she’s still alive. If by chance she does pass away from stuff befor her 20 years , I won’t be adopting anymore furbabies my ❤ won’t take it- I’m 64 will turn 65 next month. 😮 but life is good right now🥰 💯 agree for food grade human grade - I’m changing her diet now . Very pleased & reassured to see this discussion. I have fed my cats almost exclusively Purina over the years. Formerly Fancy Feast, 'til I received a batch with canned maggots in it. Friskies pates since but have noticed cats sometimes developing an aversion to flavors they liked & that this is worse. A new adult cat (rescue) developed diarrhea and began crying out as if he was having stabbing pain right after eating specific flavors. The others did not seem to have that symptom but none would finish those flavors. When checking ingredients, I was dismayed to find guar gum & carragenan. Looking at a freeze dried, raw food with great adveftising, I saw bentonite clay. That got me to thinking about my hens falling off in production while on Purina layer feed. Switching to the more expensive version alleviated that but one of my two hens, both less than a year old, completely stopped laying (later went through moulting) and never resumed. As a result, I am no longer buying commercial canned cat food - seems to me the industry is seriously compromised right now AND pet food needs to be U.S. sourced & inspected including all ingredients.

I would also love a recipe that I can make for my dog who is.currently so sick has.pancteatitis, liver enlarged, spleen a problem she is vomiting and has bloody diarrhoea has been for sonar to the vet specialist and on drip at the vet so much medication. We’ve been using Rachel Rays for 14 years and all 3 of our girls are healthy. I do feed them homemade, in the morning and evening. They have kibble in between. Even our Great Dane is doing just fine.

I have a poodle mix that is almost 10 years old and has never eaten “dog food” that is, kibble. Their diet is meat, eggs, salmon, sardines, vegetables and fruits. I feed her twice a day and it is varied, as a responsible caregiver of my dog I would not eat the same thing for a week, much less her. In July 2023, blood and urine studies were carried out and it only came out low in phosphorus. Feeding like croquettes in the long term is more expensive, yes, cheap is expensive. For the physical, mental and spiritual health of my dog, I am responsible for what he eats and I am consciously responsible.

What would vet know about what is in a dog/cat food, or the quality of the food? We must stop believing that doctors, human or animal, know more about the quality of a commercial food than we do? My doctor is still wearing a face mask and promoting the need for latest covid vaccine. I go to a doctor if I break my arm or need a blood test.....and have a natupath asses the results. If most doctors were auto mechanics, they would be out of business. Functional M.D.s ....thumbs up.

I read on the fda website that there are currently three purina pro veterinary diets on a voluntary recall. I've been feeding my old chihuahua canned purina pro (not a vet diet) with no apparent issues, at least so far. I will start paying extra close attention now. The cats seem to like it too, so give them a little bite, now and then. I usually boil a chicken breast or leg and mix some with his food.

@debravictoria7452 Debra, there are things we do today, that will harm our health tomorrow. So, to lower the risk of health damage to ourselves and our pets, make choices based on the known evidence, or most evidence. We know that human food (excluding a couple foods) does not HARM our dogs and that dogs benefit from it. So your reasoning for continuing commercial dog food seems to be more wishful thinking, fingers crossed thinking. No cancer appears right after exposure to a toxin. It's decades before the cancer manifests in way that is detectable.

I have significantly reduced kibble from my dogs diet, i am a vegetarian so i don't eat meat..i get it for him, and he gets all the fresh veggies he can stand. I do worry about taking him off the kibble completely for whatever vitamins i may be missing? Suggestions? My 85 -90 lb golden retriever is getting two cups of kibble per day the other four to six cups is meat and veggies.

BarbVirginia: AMEN! let's tell the truth about what dogs and cats should eat. There are food banks around where meats and vegetables are available. If I were to be in a circumstance where money was scarce, I'd be looking around for what I could give up or sell. My pet might get LESS good food, but never bad food. Even though free, donated commercial food, should never be an option.

We been feeding our dog the same dog food for a while without no problems. Yesterday I fed my dog purina puppy chow tender and crunchy. I came to the office with 20 different puke spots. Dog does not want to eat all day now and just smells the purina and walks away. When i go to the area where i get her food shes comes to so shes starving now but refuses to eat purina after puking 20 damn times. Literally 20 spots of puke.

My lab pitt mix who is three went to he vet seven times at age one to two. Constant votimiting and diarrhea. I was feeding and trying different dog food brands. The last food I tried was Purina One for Digestive issues. She got so sick and had blood in her stool. She was so dehydrated they had to put her on fluids. I kept asking why this was happening and all I was told is you should put her on science diet for bland diet. I didn't think that was the right choice. I starting making Kenzie's meal and happy to say she has not been sick in a year. Her coat is so soft and shiney. She has more focus. Her teeth are so white. By the way, Kenzie lives Dr Judy's pup loaft❤

Acana was a good quality food made in BC Canada. They sold to a different company a year ago & the food made our dogs vomit. We stopped all kibble now

Same here.I had 3 dogs , one did die from heart attack ,second one was the worse experience for me and him, he endured bleeding from both ends and I was forced to put him to sleep because all vets from my small town refused to give me meds for him to die his terms bit not in that horrible pain.The 3rd one is still alive and see her stragle. All 3 of them refused to eat Acana and that was their favorite one .I start cooking for them, but it is looking like it is too late now for them. For the new puppies, I totally switched to raw food.

I've been going through this for months with 3 cats... refusal to eat, vomiting and lethargy. I've been trying other food options with no relief until I say your videos by chance. I believe with your help that I have finally found a product that is not toxic. My cats are indoor and up till this began were fine. I knew it was the food because of their refusal to eat and vomiting after ingestion. I've been telling my friends, and all I've heard is crickets until recently. Now my friends and coworkers are coming to me and reporting that their cats and dogs are sick, and they think it's from the food. ❤❤❤😊

Thank you for looking at this horrid problem. Please also look at JM Smucker - they make Meow Mx & 9Lvs canned food.. MMx is a well-known problem among cat owners, from what I've read & recently experienced. Their 9L canned food also made my cat extremely sick with ghastly chronic diarrhea. He now eats homemade wet food & rabbit meat kibble - no more diarrhea or lethargy problems. (Frisks also caused him severe diarrhea, too. Which is why I thought he was sick, until I changed his diet. Now I realize there's a possible troubling trend developing among top commercial pet food producers.)

I used to feed my dog Purina One for large breeds, I did this for a few months and then my dog would sometimes throw up, once a month or so. I thought it was because she ate too fast. She would also have a healthy poop, and then a very soft bowel movement, every day. The last time I tried to order the same Purina dog food, it wasn't available, so I ordered a small bag of Crave, but my dog refused to eat it. And Cass my dog, is always hungry, she'll eat anything, but wouldn't touch it. So I then ordered Purina's One +, Digestive Health, and my dog wouldn't eat it either. I finally went to a pet store and got small sample packs of three varieties of dog food from the same pet food manufacturer, and she smelled the first sample kibble, for a bit, and then she wolfed it down. The second one, she just inhaled it. There is definitely something going on.

Our Dutch Shepherd has had severe pet food sensitivities ever since he was poisoned by lawn pesticides by someone's lawn service as a puppy. I make 4 ingredient homemade food for him ever since. I pressure cook 5 lbs chicken thighs with 5 lbs carrots, 4 dry cups barley that I cook in the chicken broth with the carrots, and 2 lbs frozen green peas. We have laying hens, so I add fresh eggs daily. He is almost 11 years old and doing great on this diet. Prayers for you and your furbaby.

I've been feeding him diamond naturals for 3yrs. He's only 4 and I'm far below the poverty level. I'm forced to choose to feed him or myself in the first place lol maybe we can share food now! Lol funny but not funny. I can't afford vet either so concerned with breed specific food. He's a miniature Cockapoo about 15lbs. I'm hoping the cost might be actually same or less to feed him. Sorry for long post but I'm so greatful for yours. I just wanted to say thank u and I'm sorry that happened to your little friend. 🙏❤

My 11 yr old cat died from kidney failure. I was feeding him wellness dry food. He was a strong healthy cat. I took him to the Vet because I noticed a slight change in his fur, shocked to hear something so serious was going on 😮

Similar. 18yr old. Same food. Fine one day to emergency vet appt. kidney failure. I took her home, called a compassionate veterinarian (the veterinarian at the emergency appt. was just an ALL-around horrible experience!) RIP my bestie 1998-2016 I should've changed to a wet food made from whole foods, humane grade. I never knew about feed ingredients, phosphorus levels & high BUN . We should've had more time together had I been informed - now I try to do my own research, tho I do get some pretty ridiculous results from google a lot of the time. I greatly appreciate the info I've found from: Dr.Judy, Dr Andrew Jones (veterinary Secrets), Dr Karen Becker & Rodney Habib, JulieAnne with Adored Beast, Sysan Thixton (truthsboutpetfood), Two Crazy Cat Ladies, and recently Rachels posts, Saving Pets One@ A Time fb group, I Thank you!

Dr. Judy, I just want to personally thank you for all you do and for all your wonderful recipes! I needed to get my boys off kibble due to one of their food sensitivities and chronic yeasty ears. I knew making their food would be my best option, but like you said, I was worried I wouldn't get it right. They've been on your Puploaf for three months now and funny thing... No more yeasty ears! I currently gently cook but we're transitioning to raw slowly (my other dog is a little finicky 😂) I just wanted to thank you for everything you do! I've learned SO much! Thank you for sharing this valuable information. We feed organic raw because I don't eat processed food and dont feed my dogs processed. Each batch of dog food is different. My dog stopped eating his food, and that is when we changed to raw.

I’m here because my German shepherd is sick with bloody diarrhea, vomiting and losing weight after feeding my dog Purina dog food. He is on medication now, but he is still having bloody diarrhea.

My mom was a 60's baby. My grandma had to take a drug to help keep her body from miscarrying her. Later it was found that baby girls born where their mom took that medicine were born with severely messed up reproductive systems or completely without them😳 Thankfully my mom had hers but she had to have surgery to fix her 0roblems and fertility treatments

Diethylstilbestrol (DES) DES exposure is associated with increased risks of cervical and vaginal cancer, congenital anomalies of the female and male genitourinary tracts, and adverse effects on fertility and reproductive function. DES remains the only firmly established transplacental carcinogen in humans. They later discovered that it did not help prevent miscarriages. It is a synthetic form of estragon. I too was a DES baby. Glad your Mom is OK, mine was minimal damage too, caused my daughter to be 10 weeks premature, but she is ok too.

Received my Shiz-poo at 5 1/2 months, and was shocked to see the high number of vaccines... way more than dogs I owned in the past. So I started putting milk thistle on his natural food, as it is believed to treat any liver damage. Its a learning curve for all of us. Most my life I fed my dogs commercial food and did all the recommended vaccines. Never again. The longest known living dog just turned 30. He lives in Portugal, has never been vaccinated, and has eaten only human food.

I agree....sick of the poisoning and "its ok". I have a friend that had a siamese cat that lived till 23 - He fed her what HE ate for dinner!!! SMH. I am here because mine would not eat the food and losing weight - he is 17 (no vx). Took him off and started making his food, has gained 10lbs, no anxiousness ect. WTH are they getting away with this BS? Now recalls on bird food (yes parrots), can you imagine?

we've been feeding dog food from costco without a problem. I do cook for them & mix it in but with 6 dogs, I can't afford to feed straight home cooked. I make treats for them & only give Rabies after the initial vaccines

I read one woman came home fed the cats, one had collapsed she took it to the vet immediately. She came home to see three other cats deceased. Recently. Another had fed her two litters of puppies purina and these puppies died after eating. I have been reading all these about a lot of dogs, puppies…puppies are very very sick. Q

I’ve just picked up an 8 week old small puppy… I presumed it was the vaccine+ flea treatment+worming that was given the day before, that was why she had bloody mucous , diarrhoea and wasn’t hungry.. then I had her on my knee eating breakfast and noticed her nose was twitching and she tried to get to the table…. So why wasn’t she eating the new dog food I’d been given by breeder” Purina puppy food! Seeing as I’m a health practitioner and feed my dogs raw and have had one German shepherd have her first and only fit within 5 mins after getting her annual booster at about 5 years old, had another German Shepherd , that I put frontline on while in a bad tick area..she was dead in 3 weeks ..diarrhoea started that night and she just went own really fast . I’ve lived abroad and farmed all animals , used tick, worming etc treatments, but now I’ve had these experiences and am trained to study health and question things , I’m extremely cautious . The pup , ate the food when put chicken broth on it, but when she saw my shepherd s raw food , she was so excited… and loved the raw puppy food I’d already decided to start her on .Changing onto raw turkey saved my little dog 12 years ago when she was at deaths door ..blood everywhere…. And very weak … got worse and worse , given antibiotics by vet , helped for a week , then started all over again ….. Food is your health….either dogs or humans ! Go for the best and closest to nature you possibly can!

Doesn't all taurine come from China now? Haven't we already had toxicity from melamine from China about 20 years ago in dog food? This is nothing new. But nothing ever gets done. So frustrating!! I remember reading years ago that USA stopped making it and only Canada and China made it. Then Canada quit making it.

I wish I had seen this the end of 2023. Both my dog got very very ill. We almost lost my senior dog. The vet ruled everything out and was convinced it was their food. He said it was likely sourced from a different location and causing all of their symptoms. A few hundred dollars later they both recovered. I despise buying food for them now. There is just no knowing what is going to happen.

Dear Purina, Recall the food. My dog was reluctant to eat a new bag of Purina One Mature. he became sick with bloody stools and lethargy. I contacted Chewey and they refunded me for the bag but I do not want any other dogs to suffer or die.

My mother always told me when I got sick....what are you doing different? Most of the time, I was eating different or was doing something different that was causing a problem. I think we can apply that to our pets too.

This just occurred to me listening to the discussion around 48 minutes into this video. Yes, Dr. Judy you ARE brave by being so honest, by educating yourself (and all of us) to proper pet nutrition and it's benefits to our pets. This reminds me of Dr. David Perlmutter, who wrote The Grain Brain several years ago. That book turned the medical community upside down and he was pretty much crucified by writing a book about how grains are so damaging to our bodies. Dr. Perlmutter is a very successfull Neurologist. He started asking patients what they ate and started noticing a pattern. So intrigued by this, he went back to school and got a degree in Nutrition - his practice totally changed, his patients got much better after eating better. So after a few years, more progressive physicians realized Dr. Perlmutter was right, and he's now one of the most respected functional/integrative physicians out there. So Dr. Judy, hold your head HIGH, because yes, you and other brave Veterinarians out there are CORRECT in your passion about safe, nutritious food for our babies. You're helping us to keep our babies healthy and have quality of life.

I recently bought the Purina Lamb and Rice, (purple bag). It made my dogs have terrible diarrhea! One flat out wouldn't eat it! I have 4 dogs. They were sickly for 3 days! They were fine before they ate this brand, flavor. They were stoic, dehydrated and just slept. I went back to another brand that I was feeding before. No issues. All symptoms stopped. They are all fine now. I will never buy Purina again!!

My 2 cats have been eating Purina pro plan wet cat food. We never had a problem until a week ago… they’ve been having diarrhea and vomiting. I noticed it happens when they’ve eat any Purina pro plan with Salmon, which I’ve thrown out.

I kept saying my cats were vomiting, and I thought it was the food! I noticed some cases of wet Friskies' color was dark in some areas of the can as if something settled. My cats seemed to vomit a lot when they ate this case. Now, I only use Turkey as I transition to another brand. However, some cases arrive with those colors, and some don't. I return the ones with weird dark purple or brownish coloring in them.

hmmmm.... I just had my dog at the Emergency Vet Clinic a week ago with lethargy - vomiting and diarrhea - dehydration - also she had a 104 temp. She eats Purina Pro Plan Salmon (along with Taste of the Wild Salmon)... The vet there told me "sometimes we don't know what causes these things" - Thank God she is okay - but I am going to take her off of that food for now until I feel comfortable that it is okay. P.S. - I have a kitten that eats Purina Pro Plan Kitten Food. SIGH.

My beautiful 10 yr old has has blood in her stool, off and on for a few months now. She eats "Incredibites". I always cook beef, turkey or chicken to add as the main source of protein. Hello Purina, The breeder I got my Dog from gave me purina pro plan puppy food and for two years, that's what I gave him. I took him off of it because of yeast infection in his ear, i switched to a brand that has many options not just chicken for protein source. I never had issues with your brand other than that... But im pretty glad i did what i did when i did, thank you very much. Please be forthcoming with people about issues with your food. Its not cool to be reckless or grossly negligent with peoples pets lives.

Purina makes the "Producer's Pride" brand chicken feed sold by Tractor Supply... that gave so many laying hens problems. Our local feed store only has Purina brand rabbit feed. Purina Complete Rabbit gave all our meat rabbits fatty organs. We switched to special ordering Purina Show Rabbit and stopped having that problem, but now I'm worried about anything else it's doing to them that I can't see! They only get 1/2 cup per day, and get unsprayed local Sorghum-sudan hay for the rest of their daily ration.

Yes I have two bags of TSC brand dog food and my dog will not touch it, have not even opened the other bag, TSC said I had to return it to them and I said he’ll no I’m keeping it and will see what is going on 😮

Very sensible info. I'm going to share this with all my pet friends. Had an issue years back with Purina Beneful...toy poodle died of liver failure..bitches had Pyometra. Just heard if another breeder who had huge problems with it also and knew of other! What!! They still used that medication that caused Thalidomide!! I switched to Purina Pro Plan and they got vasculitis soon after. Now I cook my own dog food. 4 Health was great then the cans started to swell in the untamed version.

My cat became horribly sick (diarrhea, bloating, exhaustion, breath smelled like rancid carcass), on canned Purina Pro Plan complete essentials, Turkey and Giblets. Took him off and put him on homemade cat food from online recipes, tried the Purina again and he had diarrhea, bloating, exhaustion, and digestion smelled like rotten carcass again. Took him to the vet for testing and blood work. No problems. It was the Purina "food". NO MORE processed factory "franken food", ever again. I feed myself with homegrown, organic, natural and local and I'm doing the same for him. Lamb, white fish, poultry, organ meats, rice and quinoa, organic veggies: carrot, yam, celery, squash, beans, celery, and peas, brewer's yeast, vitamin mix, fish oils, magnesium, dulse /seaweed, iodized salt, olive oil, ground flax. He LOVES it! Delicious for me AND him.
