Too funny about the kids. You’re smart. If it’s not something you definitely want, it’s not something you can change your mind about once you have them! I have 2 and I adore them, but it’s definitely a difficult life-long journey.

Perlite adds aeration and keeps the substrate from turning into a brick. As well as drainage

Hi Desiree, it is the quality if your videos we like not the quantity, and by quality I mean your own true self showing. It is great you are just being you, the only way we learn even from plants is by making mistakes, lol like the rof you mentioned. Never had alocasia but seeing yours is encouraging to me. I have 4 kuds all adults right now (thank goodness, lol). You don't want any, it is just fine! Not all my adult kids have or want any too! And I am great with that! Good for you! Thanks for the video!

I have soaked a few corms and potted them before. But Claire on Jungle Haven does the BEST with propagating corms. Your alocasias look so happy now!

I do the Rubbermaid container of premixed soil and it’s great! On a whim I’ll decide to repot a plant all the time so it works best for me.

Love alocasia! And thanks for letting me know the mosquito bits aren't helpful. Was just thinking about getting them as knats coming back. Cleaned some new plants along with you, some coleus for a mixed pot and a foraged fern plus moss 😉. Glad u know for sure about the kids; it's ppl that are tricked into having them hoping to 'get the feeling' but DO NOT after that often make the saddest parents.

My favorite thing is potting up and repotting LOL! 😆 A lot of my videos I say the same thing “I don’t know the best placement for the video” hahahaha. In the end the plant is #1.

Beautiful! I never have luck with Alocacia. They stay alive just long enough till they drop their last leaf...lol! I bought a Polly once and I LUVED it. 🥰🥰🥰 It lasted me a little over a year and said: eh, I'm out of here...😅😊❤

Same here. But I still fall in love with one every so often and have to try again.😅🌱

Are you sure it didn't just go dormant? Alocasia can lose all their leaves but still be alive, as long as the corm (bulb) isn't rotted.

@gapeachnow26 You know, that may be what happened. It lasted me over a year and then all the leaves were gone. I may give it another try...😀😇🤗🥰

I put the corms in perlite in tiny cups, each form a cup, then together in a plastic box, wait a few months, when they have 2 leaves I transfer the plant into pon in a drinking plastic cup in a zipper bag, after 1 new leave I open the bag more and more, then it can be freeded into the world

What business is it of any of us, your viewers, whether you have children? Oh boy. Boundaries, anyone? Your alocasias are beautiful in their new pots! I have only a few of them bc I can’t really figure them out and they die on me 😂! I, too, love repotting and all that comes with it. This was fun to watch! Thank you.

I think its important to say things that are not in the consensus, especially for people in the same situation that feel (the society make them feel) something wrong with them.

@@שרוןשרוןI agree, I feel the same way as Desiree though I am older and couldn't have children now anyway but I have never been maternal.

@@juliashearer7842 Thankfully, today, we don’t have to have children if we don’t want to, not like previous generations. I didn’t want kids myself until I met my husband at 38 and we had a daughter when I was 41 years of age. She is the love of my life! … And she doesn’t want kids 😆! Live and let live!

New here :-). I don’t use anything like mosquito bits because I use semi hydro. So if with some of my plants still in soil, I don’t get any fungus gnats thankfully. However, I’ve heard for it to actually work at least better, you make a tea out of them 😊.

I love using mosquito bits, but the trick is more than 1 application. I did 4 weeks in a row and didn’t have fungus gnats for a year.

I like to comment because other comments and creators vids have been so helpful. But no to the negative. My first poly my son gave me. Now I have 5 more and would like just a few more. They definitely don’t like to dry out. I am going to move them to Pon

I use fluval stratum to propagate the corms and it works really well. I get the fluval off amazon. But then I'm not so good at moving the corms from the stratum to soil once the roots have grown out.

I just leave my corms in the pot and let them grow in their own time. I can't understand why anyone would prop them and then put them back in with the mother plant!

I don't have a single Alocasia. They don't interest me at all because they attract spider mites and it's something I don't want to deal with, but I love to see plant youtubers showcase theirs, HOW BRAVE of them. There's a youtuber who makes a lot of videos on corns- 'Oh the Places You'll Grow'. I have a lot of plants in my house and I also have a plant room and every time my mom visits me she asks how I'm able to manage them all, then she reminds me that I have a lot of plants. "como puedes con tantas plantas?" It annoys me so much, but I can't tell her anything. I am thinking to create a youtube channel next year. I am planning to move to AZ, God willing, and do my first video on how I moved my plants from Santa Teresa, NM to Prescott AZ, which is a long way in my opinion (to move plants). I want to showcase my plants in the house I currently live in and how I placed them in my new house. I also want to showcase any outside plants. I want chickens as well and I might include that as well. Then I want to end my videos with what I cooked for dinner, I am always cooking good Mexican food. I think I might be intimidated by other plant youtubers. That's just in my head at this time. Thank you for posting! God bless you and adios!

I had the same happen when I transferred my corma from moss to soil..I don't do alocashias anyway. But, I was wondering if they were just planted right in soil, would they grow? Hmmm anyway, love your videos. Se ya later😂😂

My sansevierias love perlite!! I have yet to catch the alocasia bug. Not sure why I just don't see the appeal. Guess that's a good thing though, I spend enough on all the other species 🤣😉

@mwatson4970

Oh and corms... I think you might do best to give them away. I don't feel like you are really a propogation person from your previous vid about it; just like with kids, there are some ppl that like the process of development and some that are more interested in plants once they are "real ppl" 😊. Think that's why alocasia are my thing 😉. Both are great approaches, just about knowing yourself.
