Hey guys! I decided I am repotting my Rhaphidophora Tetrasperma and combining two plants into one to create a fuller pot. One of them has gotten so long that it is almost touching my ceiling, so I decided to chop it and prop it into the same pot for maximum fullness. Fingers crossed that they continue to thrive! That plant looks great! I use a piece of screen on the bottom of my pots so the soil doesn’t leak out but it still drains really well. Thanks for the video!

Only a couple survived hehe. I’d still recommend rooting in moss or water for these. 😅

Hi, a month ago I picked up my first plant ever, it was a free Tetrasperma from facebook marketplace, all the leaf at the bottom have sunburns because they keep it outside during summer.. it have just one steam but looks pretty messy and bushy at the bottom (some leaf are small and don't even developed the characteristic cuts) but I was really decided to save this plant, it was free after all :). A month has passed and the plant have grown 3 new leaf at the top, very pretty and healthy. I'm wonder if I should cut the top and repot the top part, I really want this one to have the look of a loooooong vine (like the one you just cut lol). My question is, if I cut the top part and repotting on soil, is this going to make my plant keep growing from the top like a vine? Will the mother plant die? or should I trim the bad leaves at the bottom (to make the plant look cleaner and healthier, and it will keep growing normally? Thank you so much for all your videos!

Congrats on your plant! ☺️ In my experience, when you take a top cutting from a mother plant, the mother plant will continue to grow a new vine from the top-most node. That is the most common re-growth pattern. However, Mother Nature likes to trick us sometimes, so instead of just one growth point, you might even see multiple growth points along the vine. You can tell when the nodes look swollen like a new vine is wanting to bust through! If all the growth points continue to grow (sometimes they stop growing and only one of them grows into a vine), then you can expect to have a bushy plant with multiple vines. 😄 Multiple growth points usually happen when the mother plant has a robust root system already.

I would like to know if rooting in soil worked well??? I have heard that sagnum the best.

One of them actually did not root, so it died. ☹️ The other one thrived! I find that soil can root very well if the humidity is high enough. Rooting in soil is great because you don’t have to transplant into new soil like you would with sphagnum moss because it is already rooting in soil. Removing the roots from sphagnum is difficult and people usually like to repot while the sphagnum moss is still attached. Personally, I wouldn’t keep the sphagnum moss because it doesn’t decompose the same way as soil, it doesn’t dry the same way, and it holds a lot more water than soil.

i accidentally ripped the bottom of my Rhapidophora Tetraspermas roots off will it still be ok if i re-pott it into soil it is really big like 7ft

Did the entire root system fall off? You can try to repot into soil but I recommend giving extra humidity because it’s gonna need it to sustain all the leaves! If leaves start to turn yellow, you can try air layering some aerial roots to help deliver more moisture.

Hi Lisa! I’m still waiting for more significant growth but happy to report that the cuttings are still alive. One of the mother stems has pushed out 2 growth points so it will be an interesting update ☺️

@@SuchPlants hello there! It's kind of funny, I have the same situation as you did. I just haven't done the cut or repot. I'm going 2 do it soon though. I just washed the coco coir so no salt before I do the deed. What's funny is mines the same sizes 2 start out with as yours!
