Barangay Ilijan Norte was formerly a part of Barangay Panadtaran. In the middle part of 18th to 19th century, Panadtaran was the biggest barangay in Tubigon. It was headed by Kabesa Esteban Lumije, who was once a councilor in the Municipality of Tubigon. After so many years of his administration there was a misunderstanding among barrio officials that was the reason why Panadtaran was divided into three barangays . In the western part is the barangay Panadtaran , barangay Ilijan Norte in the North and barangay Ilijan Sur in the South. Boundary of the two barangay which is the Ilijan Norte and Ilijan Sur, there is a very big stone hill called Ilijan hill.
The land area of barangay Ilijan Norte is 233.6782 hectares, composed of six sitios. The distance of this Barangay from the Poblacion of Tubigon is about 5 kilometers.

This Barangay is famous for its folktale about the Ilijan Hill and it is also famous for having a breathtaking scenery (Manmade Lagoon or also called as NIA Dam)
