Here I temporarily blind myself and attempt to reproduce a painting by Salvador Dali from memory. Drawing without looking is always its own challenge. I think I've found that it's maybe not that hard to draw individual shapes, but it's more their relationship to all the other shapes in the drawing (in location and scale) that becomes difficult. Maybe this betrays the way I analyze drawings, or just a product of the tools I'm using. Either way, maybe I could improve in the future by having a more holistic vision of the painting, instead of thinking of it as an assembly of separate elements.
Go here to find a little more out about this painting: www.moma.org/c...

Actually the way Peter draws those clocks is similar to the way patients with Alzheimer's draw them! Drawing clocks is a common test to see how advanced is the memory loss - so "disintegration of persistence of memory" would be kind of a perfect name for this drawing

@@peter_draws It was pretty painful to watch, period. BTW.. Next time you want to do a blind drawing. Put a thin piece of masking tape or something on the "top" of the pen aligned with the top of the nib. Then you'll know the orientation of your nib. Or, as you said, possibly use a ballpoint. Something where you don't get ink all over your fingers and transfer it to the drawing surface.

INCREDIBLE!!! The smudges and the numbers falling off the clock etc add so much the feeling of the scene. Almost makes it more surreal in a way.
