I know that im looking at a old video, but i am so glad it popped up in my feed! Love all your animals! I see you have Venus Flytrap... i love them, but i always fail keeping them alive. Is it possible to keep them alive inside the house? Any tips? ❣️
Amazing! so many inspirering projects, I don't know why I had not thought about some permanent builds in my greenhouse before, I'm for sure going to build something this summer inspired by this video. - Thanks for sharing and I hope you make more videos in the future :)
Thank you for your comments. I look forward to seeing what inspiration you draw from my videos so please do document it on youtube. You too have inspired me and I plan on putting a ppond in my greenhouse for some livebearers in spring. I am building a new greenhouse also so I will document that in due course!
Great video I hope to have a Greenhouse of my own just like yours, have been gathering up what I will need to put in the Greenhouse, just need to get a good greenhouse then I'm sorted
Thanks for a great video. I've never kept Amphibians before so I'm doing a lot of reading. I have been put off Axolotls because they seam hard to care for , but I you have some ,they look well. I'm in the north of England ,a similar climate I think? I love the greenhouse idea. Thanks again!
Nice, I love the natural look and all the vegetation covering everything. Do/will you move the Marbled Newts to a breeding set up in the spring? Also, how to keep a greenhouse from overheating on exceptionally hot and sunny days?
The marbled newts have a pond that they can go into when they are ready. The greenhouse does not really over heat where I live. The door is left open when it gets very warm and it has automatic vents. Most importantly though, all the animals can go underground when it gets too warm or too cold! They can escape the extremes that way
can you please tell us how you made the greenhouse? I live in a temperate region where the winters get pretty cold and I'm planning on building one myself, thank you so much
if it gets very cold you need to be careful with what animals you chose. Generally they need to get below the frost line underground to survive. lots o research needed
I catch grey tree frogs here in N.Y. I love the different types of newts ya got. Ive never had any European newts. Always wanted them though. We have red spotted newts and California newts and paddle tail newts. I love that setup bro! Where do you live? Somewhere in Britain i assume by your accent.
yo would love to see an update to your beautifull herp greenhouse, i am also thinking of keeping some tiger salamanders outside, would you still reccomend it? peace!
I also live in Ireland. Is it hard it to get tiger salamanders here? Where did the bufo bufo originate from? I didnt realise they were available captive bred. There are now wild populations breeding in the Northern County's which may not be great for our Rana species if they spread nationwide. Any who great video and Keep it up, someday I'll have my own greenhouse just like this.
David Nolan ive only heard of one record for Bufo bufo in Ireland. I dont think they do too well here. Mine were captive bred by a friend. Biosecurity is very important. Their enclosure is pretty secure as is the greenhouse.
They are actually thriving in Donegal, RTE even did an episode all about them a few years ago on one of their wildlife programmes. If they were to spread further south our native frogs and newts would suffer badly. However they got there is still a mystery but it seems to be a recent arrival to our shores, as its never been recorded before, much like the slow worm that just showed up one day in the 70s in county Clare. You haven't been active lately, I hope all is well with you, I enjoy your videos, post an oul update if you can at all 👍
Thanks Matthew, my whole ethos is to give the animals as natural of an environment as I can and as much space as I can. Axolotl can live outside year round depending on where you live. I live on the west coast of Ireland where we dont get hard freezes. They are ok with a thin layer of ice on the pond. We never get cold for long here though because of the gulf stream.
Andrew Llewellyn yes so am I. I spend a lot of time in my greenhouse though so they get to know me. My T. Lepidus are relatively tame also but it took a lot of time and wax worms. What species do you keep?
At the moment I don't keep any lacertas, my only european species are morish geckos and natrix. In the past though I've also had lepidus, viridis, trilineatus and podarcis sp. It's a shame they are hard to get hold of these days.
Great video 👍🏻 subbed. Thanks for sharing. Please how deep/large is your axolotl pond? Thinking about building a secure outdoor enclosure for mine after seeing this 👍🏻
The pond must be deep enough so that they can escape the cold. My ponds are about 12" deep. It doesnt freeze here so that is deep enough for me. If it gets very cold where you live take that into account.
Cold Blood in Cold Climates I live in south west England. Was thinking 24inch at the deepest point as we get a bit of ice and frost. Thanks for the reply 👍🏻
Ive never heard of them cross breeding. I never put them together in the breeding pond during spring. They are fine together during the rest of the year though
