That alone should have disqualified her. Add on the absolute lack of practical experience as a judge, and I’m surprised anyone was able to support her with a straight face. Could you imagine ANYONE voting to confirm this woman if she had, at any point, cried and slapped the table while yelling, “I like beer!”? Somehow Brett got through, too. Republicans didn’t appoint justices, they appointed political supporters sympathetic to conservatives. Big difference.

If you happened to be teaching about the constitution, but when republican tossed a supposedly an easy question and you cannot answer what are the basic rights that are the pillars of the constitution, that's a warning sign for me. I think that's up there with a member of congress not knowing that Guam (or Puerto Rico) is part of the United States. I used to think that being nominated to be a supreme court justice was for legal scholars or tremendous litigates who have argued before the Supreme Court. Very depressing that is not the case.

That's why we have judges like her. We also have lawyers that has to defend mass murderers, serial killers and some actually do it voluntarily because their clients are rich and famous, so changes of getting them free is easy, since the system is corrupt.

Who here doesn't think these Republicans are voting 'no' to her confirmation because: 1. She's a nominee of a Democrat 2. She's a woman 3. She's black 4. All of the above Political party, race, gender identity (and dare I say religion) have no actual bearing on qualifications...you are either qualified or you are not. This concept of it as a sacred text and not a living document is a huge problem. It puts the wisdom of the founding fathera beyond reproach and ignores the political compromises it took to get the 13 colonies to just sign the damned thing.

As a taxpayer in the Show-Me State, I can say that the problem with Missouri is that it's smack-dab in the middle of middle-southern region. Nothing more to say, other than a lot of people do watch the news, but they take a more opinionated and somewhat biased (extreme in many cases with people I work with) view on what they percieve vs. what they listen to on TV. It's the same with me but I've spotted the issues. A lot of the political territory and importance is lost on people because of the polarization from the last administration, and we're so small it doesn't seem to matter. That's what it amounts to. Lots of those stickers and hats too. P.S. Enjoy your show, very informative and appreciated by subtle fools like me. Keep doing what you do!

Every person I have seen say that, if your next question was ‘define judicial philosophy’ they couldn’t do it. They have no idea what the hell that is, they’ve been coached to say it.

Basically, he's just following what's being recommended by the Federalist Society who have a BS "originalist" interpretation of the constitution. However, originally, the constitution allowed slavery, considered black people 3/5ths of a human being, women couldn't vote, and the only men who could vote were property owners. To think that the constitution is not a evolving document and wasn't intended to evolve in order to meet the needs of an evolving society is pure bunk. The Federalist society people, if they had their way, would probably bring back things like only property owners being able to vote. I've heard some conservative media figures say they would want that.

I was always hoping that qualifications, and the hard work of achieving those qualifications would automatically get you a yes vote in this situation... But no, it's race. It's what's in your pants. It's what you beleive.. simply doing a job as credibly as can be- means nothing. I mean, they let a 17 year old carry an AR-15 around the streets and murder a couple of people, then walk away free as if nothing had ever happened, so... Who are they to say she doesn't know how to sentence properly?
