I’m so happy someone explained this with pictures and words! These natural hair police will have us bald cutting our hair every time it’s uneven, not understanding this! Those short hairs are healthy new growth, not damaged ends
@@priccy2823 well if you do box braids to often and don't moisten your hair properly, it could lead to breakage. I have to be very careful with braids, because my hair is soft and can break from the weight of the braids
Wow, I never knew that but noticed when doing cornrows I barely have breakage. Well, I guess I have to look for a solution about all the breakage I got from braids at this point because the short strands & frizzy hair doesn't look to good. Do you have any tips?@@ramahh979
I think it depends on the person& for you to know your hair. My hair was like this and it was defo breakage 😢.....after having children i neglected my hair and it was a state. No more now self care is a top priority
Exactly why a stylist will NOT touch my hair! I see quite a bit of this throughout the front area of my hair. I see my density increasing as i protective style 💯 of the time. It's just growth and I ain't letting NO stylist tell me So!!!
I've always believed that the short pieces were new growth. I can't believe that the people who should understand hair growth, can't even get it right. Thanks for confirming my believe.
Yep! If you have a patch where ALL the hairs are short, THEN it's breakage, otherwise, it's totally normal. We just notice it more bc our hair is curly, but it happens in ALL hair types! Partly what causes "frizz"
Well done. As a scientist myself, it’s logical and nothing but a scientific explanation of how the human body does what’s it’s designed to do, growth and development!!❤❤❤
"Don't let them play in your face." 🤣 All joking aside, as much as I know this I always side eye those short strands. There are a lot of them, but some would HAVE to be new growth or if be bald. There was one section that was shorter but I've loved watching it grow out over the years. I think that influencers showing super smooth, photo ready hair without showing these real life close ups give people a false impression of how real hair (regardless of type) actually grows. Thank you for always keeping it real. 💜
Thank you for this short informative video. I’ve been natural 7 years. My hair is about 24 inches. I have a lot of strands but they’re fine. I have a lot of short hair just like yours. I’ve been contemplating shaving my hair cause I thought I have too much breakage. But then on the other hand, my hair is healthy and growing. But I was super concerned and convinced I need to start over. Thanks to your video I am now at peace and no longer stressing about short pieces.
Truth is revealing. Finally someone in our community with some bloody sense. I had arrived at this same conclusion when i was examining my own hair and made that observation, whilst i was trying to understand the hair cycle. Thanks for the demonstration and for sharing.
I'm thankful you did this video. I have those pieces as well and I was NOT planning on cutting my hair.. just continue to take care of it. I love my 4c kinky hair and constantly fight the urge to keep touching it/playing with it. Lol
This why you have such beautiful strands of hair....thank you so much for that info because I have those short pieces of hair and I am like what's going on now but its from the hair shedding and those pieces of hairs are growing in....love your channel new subscriber.
I love these little (but big) tips you are providing. It really helps me to understand my hair. Keeping my hair hydrated too doesn't break so much now. Still journeying through but enjoying the process again.
Thank you so much for the video sis ❤!! If i was the type to not think for myself i be cutting my hair like crazy but i figure it out, I stop watching a lot of these people because they miss leading us like myself who is trying to learn to care for me hair
Yes yes yes! I've talked about this in person but never see anyone online talking about it and I just had it has a personal theory or belief based on the hair growth cycle but for a long time I didn't have short hairs so I definitely thought it was breakage at first
Thank you sooo mch for this video. I was wondering what is going on with my hair. Im doing everthing right, but i begun to see lots of these short pieces. Now i understand!
OMGGGG yesss thank you thank you lol it’s definitely breakage for me! At least in some of areas. From tight braids ☹️ haven’t worn braids a year or two before hand.
That’s me currently. My hair looks like that but I do have some breakage from when I visited a stylist. My hairs’ density has decreased. I am planning on doing another big chop today but it depends on how they look straightened. Thanks for sharing. Much appreciated. ❤
Thank you for this video. I'm finally at waistlength and I saw some pieces like this is the back I refuse to be stressed I didn't cut it I just applied my sheabutter and twisted.
Thank you so much. I have 4c hair and just starting growing it out about a year and a half ago. I learned how to do my own twists, and because I’m a perfectionist I was really frustrated that I could never seem to prevent “flyaways” no matter how much I tried to gel and straighten out my hair before twisting. It should have been super obvious to me that this is new hair growth (especially with the shedding lol) but it just wasn’t. Thank you again!
It's the facial expression for me with the chuckle at the end of this video. 🤭 All jokes aside, so you're telling me that I may not have ass much breakage as I think based on the information shared in this video?! Hmmm, something for me to ponder. 🤔
So this is healthy and new growing hair? That’s awesome. ❤ I just wish it wouldn’t stick out when tying my hair back and I hate using gels like idk what styles I can do without weighing my hair down with all that heavy product; I really don’t like using lots of products on my hair, i hate the way it feels
Hi Nica, can you discuss this topic: applying products like deep conditioner to and regularly oiling the scalp. It's so confusing because some say your scalp gets lazy about producing its own oils and maintining pH and some say it's ok. Thanks!😊
I have two videos posted that might help. If they aren't exactly what you are looking for, let me know and I'll work on something 🤎🤗 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-IMS09gvjLVY.html ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-_4UzF4aCue0.html
@@naturally_nica Hi Nica, I saw these and that's what prompted me to ask about it. After my aunt told me to stop oiling and conditioning my scalp, I wanted to ask if you were able to go more into depth about it (because I like your tips and my hair has completely changed, for the better). Just in general, info about the scalp make up not specific to a scalp condition, if that makes sense.
Hi Nica! For the dilution of glycerin in distilled water, in your opinion how many tablespoons or teaspoons of this humectant for 8 -16 ounces of water ? Thank you 💖☺️
No she us not mute, she gets anxiety. Thankfully she doesn’t let that keep her from providing excellent information. Honestly speaking, we don’t have to hear her voice in order to get her wisdom. Let’s allow her to be comfortable in how she chooses to deliver her message. Trust and believe, she is putting out quality videos that I haven’t seen from many others and she does it in a fraction of the time. I absolutely love however she chooses to communicate, just as long as she communicates! ❤
Omg I’ve been searching for a video for a while wasn’t sure I was wording it right cause I truly didn’t no if it was frizz, breakage, heat damage or new growth My hair wasn’t always like this so it was confusing for me
All the information you provided is very good. Additionally, looking at the condition and context of the short strands is also important. If the ends of the shorter pieces are split, or if the short pieces are concentrated in a specific area (like the crown, nape, etc) this is not necessarily indicative of shedding.
I have a patch that grew in in between by faux locs and I was convinced it was breakage, but then I remember I had a small derm patch in my head like two years ago and i guess it just got to the point it wanted to grow lol, it was unnoticeable because my hair is so thick. But I definitely notice the patch. It’s like I’m missing a whole faux loc lol.
I have that going on and I am not obsessed with trimming or a smooth asthetic. I have big shedding periods due to health issues and then massive regrowth when I remember my herbs. All different lengths going on. But since I dont wear my hair straight, I dont care. My hair is thriving. I do cut it from time to time because I dint want really long hair😊
so that guy with long beard that loves to bend hair and scrutinize the short hairs and claims them all damaged hairs. A lot of these hair guru's are actually just stress guru's. Stressing everyone out to get views.
