It's so cool to finally see a Decepticon in Rescue Bots. Honestly, I thought they were non-existent in that show.

Makes me wonder how Wedge felt when Hotshot said”last one in is a Decepticon”in the episode All At Sea. He wasn’t the last one in for sure!

I like how the recruits bop their heads to the music. The voice actors are really good. I love hotshot and wedge actors. They have so much emotion. This explains why wedge would act a little superior at times.

I don’t know if it’s a sore spot for Wedge, but I would’ve loved to see him receiving a new rescue bots badge but it be one with a Decepticon Symbol. Something like “You’re Rescue Bots Academy’s first official Decepticon Rescue Bot!” Something to show that, yeah we know what you are, but we still accept you cause you’re our friend and teammate. I dunno, maybe I’m overthinking it.

I have a feeling that Whirl’s father didn’t tell her about the Decepticons because he didn’t want her to go down the same path in life that he did. I also think can explain Hotshot’s hatred of Decepticons and the fact he seems to not have a family with one theory, what if Hotshot’s family was killed by Decepticons during the war.

According to the Wikipedia Lazerbeak - Soundwave’s former helper and a retired Decepticon, Lazerbeak was found injured by the Rescue Bots in “More than Meets the Eye” when his shuttle was damaged and Hoist retrieved his cassette form before waking him up. After Wedge got rid of their prejudice, the Bots took him back to the Academy to heal the wound on his left wing.

Sorry for the spoilers, Ultra Primal. I died when Wedge said that he was a Decepticon in one of Emperor Kumquat's reviews. I didn't expect that, I thought that Decepticon!Wedge was a joke in a fic I read.

Back in five into four Heatwave mentioned the recruits would be able to patrol their own sigma one day and here they are I'm so proud of them they've grown fast

I like to imagine that laserbeak was pardoned, or soundwave actually vouched for his release from prison while he stayed behind, not wanting laserbeak to spend the rest of his life rusting in a cell with him.

BTW, one interesting moment. Medix is Ratchet's nephew, and in a cartoon trilogy about the war on Cybertron (don't remember the name) Ratchet organises a camp where he heals both autobots AND decepticons. And here, Medix actually follows his uncle's footsteps in his view on reality as a doctor.

Honestly...I’ve got similar questions as you do about where the heck Soundwave is. He and Laserbeak are practically inseparable...teaser for Soundwave appearing in a future episode to retrieve Laserbeak after who knows what lengths he went to find him?

As to why Perceptor would say Laserbeak has no criminal record it’s probably because he sees Laserbeak a an animal with no real way of ignoring orders once given.

I think wedge's father is scrapper since a skid steer loader is basically the son of a wheel loader

i think soundwave was locked up and laserbeak was freed and he was working on a ship with other bots after the war and they got attacked but all the other bots left laserbeak on the ship so laserbeak had to just go into status lock

This episode is pretty good and I just wish we had more episodes like this I would love to know what the other recruits lives were like before going to rescue training and joining the academy and I wish they made episodes of how the other recruits joined maybe even give us flash backs on how their life was back then I mean it seems so much more interesting like how they proved themselves worthy of the academy and Hotshot's life of being a famous cube player. I mean so many opportunity's I would love to know what whirl was doing before joining the academy and even the other recruits and maybe a story about hotshot's famous cube days seriously I want to see what the other recruits past were like

Here is what I think is Wedge's backstory. So war blah blah after blah blah, Wedge was found by Optimus and offer him a chance to change, so he accept it and compete in that competition and got a repaint to orange and still had a bit of Decepticon rudeness but was nervous because he was a con. Wait! Do the other teachers know? Or rather, does Heatwave know?

I remember when cd's and cassettes were around I mainly had audio book cassettes

Imagine if they somehow cross universes and go to shattered glass universe and they all get nearly killed by Shattered Glass Optimus and his Autobots but get saved by the heroic Megatron and his Decepticons

Wedge said that op found him but he didn't mention anything about his parents so my guess is that they are still constructicons and not autobots

To answer your question at the end, Robots in Disguise (2015) is a sequel to Prime. In that show, Soundwave escapes the Shadowzone, does a few things for a bit, and it's implied he's arrested after the episode where he's defeated. It's likely that while Soundwave is incarcerated, Laserbeak was granted freedom because he's a Minicon.

I once drew up a decepticon that was tortured and turned into a living weapon for the war, he escaped but his memory is gone. He blames Megatron for what has happened to him, he lost everything thanks to him.

As for Soundwave, he was last known to have been taken back to Cybertron by Optimus Prime to stand trial, along with the other captured Decepticons, at the end of RiD2015. As for Laserbeak having no record and being a free bot, he may have already served his sentence and his record was expunged.

I feel like the message would have been better if they used knockout or a new decepticon character. As laserbeak was with Soundwave throughout prime and RID commiting the same crimes as soundwave did. If it were another universe it also probably would've landed better. As in the aligned universe the decepticons did try to cyberform earth.

I like the idea of the original Whirl being portrayed as Whirl from Rescue Bots academy's father but yeah it does seem ironic that she wouldn't know what a Decepticon is considering as well the fact that her father was part of the wreckers

Finally the episode everyone was waiting for. I think it was spoiled for a lot of us but it still gets me every time. I Agree with TWK_paperclip who commented below that Soundwave was probably locked up and Laserbeak was freed. And Perceptor did say that he currently had no criminal record. Also I like the way Hotshot described the boom box has “Exotic” cudos for Hotshot saying “Professor Perceptor”so clearly. My brother and I were trying to say it 3 times fast and couldn’t do it lol! And I agree with Shadow Jeremy. I don’t think Wedge lied about the written contest. Optimus obviously found him sometime before the Academy had opened and Wedge simply entered as a lot of bots had. So proud of Wedge for not letting his fear of heights stop him from helping Laserbeak even though I don’t think anything could of stopped him. Wedge will be a good mentor especially for other bots who might of been in his situation.

Sorry for spoiled there... But yeah,the first time we saw laserbeak and Wedge's true original self is kinda the BIG suprise and the shock of others is insane,and his the only one that cared Laserbeak just because they are former Dicepticon, and it's sad where Soundwave was, and Hotshot is the only one that aware that Dicepticons are nothing but killers,and not know where are parents of Wedge,and wish it explores the back story of the Recruits and it's amazing how the Recruits have their first stand alone Rescue mission, it's amazing!!!😆

Here’s an idea regarding both Lazerbeak and Wedge on this episode: Lazerbeak: After serving his time in prison, Lazerbeak had noticed that the Cybertronians still shunned him for his past. Out of options in life, he exiled himself from Cybertron and became stranded on a Decepticon ship. However, it was then attacked by some third party alien race (Quintessons maybe). He hid as a cassette, (which he scanned on Earth before arriving) and became trapped in a pile of ruble. Perhaps, he viewed this as another punishment for his many crimes, and knowing that Soundwave couldn’t save him, he attacked his fate. But that’s when the recruits of the academy came to the rescue, and learning that there’s more to Lazerbeak than meets the eye! Wedge: Wedge, at some point, may have been a Constructicon. He, at first, believed that he was supposed to be on the good side, and so served the Decepticons well. That was until he found out about the atrocities that Megatron (now dead) once committed! With this, he abandoned the Decepticons and scratched out the insignia in his chest to break all ties with his former self. Some time after this, Optimus Prime found Wedge and took him under his wing. From there, the newly reborn Wedge was trained to be an Autobot, but he still disguised his true identity from everyone else in fears of judgement. That’s basically it! So I hope you enjoyed!

Dang, I didn't even know Wedge was a Decepticon I mean he's been my favorite Autobot ever since RID 2001.

In RIB soundwave reverted back to his g1 form, but lazerbeak still looked the same as TFP. So im guessing that whenever they were sent to be on trial they were able to get a ship and escape cybertron. Either lazerbeak reverted back to his g1 form when they arrived back on cybertron or when they escaped. Then while they were escaping, autobots caught up and re-captured lazerbeak went changed into the cassette form and wad hiding.

I think all the deceptions on that ship died including soundwave while lazerbeak was left to battle another autobot,when the decepticons defeated and died,lazerbeak was left to hide in rubble while the Autobots left the ship.

The mini-cassettes are shown to be independent in other continuities. Ratbat and Ravage are notable examples in the comics. Maybe Lazerbeak just happened to be away from Soundwave and the other cassettes after he was cleared of all charges of being a war-criminal and on that ship because of a job or visiting one of Cybertron’s colonies.

Everybody's gotta move on from their scars sometime. Its not easy for some, and damn near virtually impossible for others, because they hang onto all the memories they had while carrying them in their hearts/sparks. Well the Rescue Bots are gonna give every Cybertronian still dwelling in the past, a clean break from it.

Hotshot be having that vendetta against decepticons eventhough he probably has never seen a real one in his life.

When wedge revealed the fact that he was a decepticon I just saw that coming he was just so strange and arrogant at times but then again if wedge being a former decepticon is the reason why he's a jerk then is scorch some double agent or maybe he's just some spoiled brat but then medix being rude I guess he's just proud and thinks he's the smartest

I would see the Rescuebots, if they weren't affiliated with the Autobots, as their own faction thanks to this episode.... I'm inspired once again for my Continuity to create yet another Cybertronian faction.

I’ve heard Optimus used Spark Sayer on Laserbeak when the recruits graduated year 2 now he’s an Auttobot, when Megatron finds out he’s betrayed the Decepticons he’s going to kill him. So he’s gotta fly the coop, before that caged bird is fed to the Sharkticons and Scraplets. I’ve seen what the Decepticon’s do to their prisoners in their city of Kaon.

Lets just agree that hasbro just doesn't care about canon so dont put to much thoght into it

Hmm.... despite the video being 1yr old I had a look at the ship ... true blaster fire may have damaged it but it may not have been autobots .. if you think about it .. what other factions where there ? ... you got the Quintinions, junk bots ( sorry if I forgot the faction) auto bots and well bounty hunters/pirates ... and the tribunal ... ( the decepticon one ) that may have damaged the ship ... but why would Lazer beak be on it alone ?? ..

Why Soundwave is absent does require spoilers to answer. R.I.D. 2015 adds in Soundwave as one of its major villains, who is trying to help Cyclonus, the series’ final antagonist, get Megatron back. Even further back, this Soundwave is the same one from Prime, and appears as such at his RID Debut. Laserbeak was with Soundwave through all of that, and with Rescue Bots Academy also being a part of this aligned continuity, it becomes clear that this laserbeak is the same one from Prime and RID15. Soundwave was eventually beaten by the Bee Team, so he and Laserbeak were put to trial when Optimus took them and other stasis pods to Cybertron. This means the only reasons Laserbeak is in a random ship and not in jail are either that the two decepticons were declared not guilty (which still doesn’t answer where Soundwave is *now*) or that laserbeak wasn’t considered guilty by the jury or judge due to being a minicon (but Soundwave, being a fully fledged Right Hand Man to Megatron, was absolutely not going to get that lucky).
