New cars often have aluminum or plastic fenders. When squeezing this material it will crack or break, without giving you the space at the hinges you need to remove the door. In this video Rescue Consultant Marinus Verweijen shows you several options for dealing with this situation.

It works with no door impact. Try lifting a door off like that, when it’s been smashed in. Thanks for the video

Hi Adam, Thank you for your comment! It’s true that lifting the door off this easily won’t always be possible. But this method does make it possible to do so in most cases. If you remove the door from the hinge side, the tension on the door, created by the impact between the A and B pillars, will go away. If the lock is still intact and still works, you will be able to open the door reasonably easily. If the lock no longer works, you will get more space to spread deep at the lock directly. It is an option to start opening the door from the lock side, however there is a chance that you will destroy the door and the lock will remain in the lock pin.
