I have so much respect for the R.N.L.I. Even as an experienced Dive boat skipper I once found myself 12 miles off shore (near the Eddistone) in a 5.5m RIB with rapidly deteriorating sea state and a broken steering coupler, it was very scary. I cannot begin to describe the feeling of relief as we watched the Plymouth R.N.L.I. rescue boat approach us... Remember no mater how experienced you are, no matter how prepared you think you are ...Sometimes shit just happens. Please support these guy's!

These RNLI video's are addictive. One of only three charities I support, RNLI, Cat's Protection and Cancer Research. Will always go out of my way for them.. they all do amazing work, and often don't get the credit the deserve.

If I may, don’t support cancer societies etc. They take the peoples donations and .......give it to big pharma who does the research. When a cancer medicine is found big pharma than charges $50,000+ per month to the person with cancer for the medication. NO benefit is seen to a single person with cancer. It’s a complete gimmick. Same is true of Heart and Stroke foundation. I will tell you just how terrible it is. Remember Jerry Lewis and his yearly telethons for MDS? One day a vet spoke with him and explained MD has been cured 30 years before in animals. It could be cured that day in humans to. That the society was making too much money from the telethons that they most likely didn’t want it cured. Lewis went to the society and asked. What he found shocked him. He resigned as the chair over it. It devastated him. Heart and Stroke society KNOWS that it is sugar not cholesterol that causes heart attacks and strokes. But you cannot sell pills for sugar can you. Statin drugs sold to people makes money. However, it also doesn’t allow humans to absorb the fats we need from our diet to do daily healings to our brains. Over time...3-5 years our brains will start to shrink and atrophy causing Alzheimer’s. From the 3 years after the start date of the sale of Statin drugs Alzheimer’s has a 1:1 causal relationship. In other words as the sale of Statin drugs increased the exact increase in Alzheimer’s occurred.

Well done RNLI it's so useful people seeing these videos for one it shows the truly amazing work you do and two it should educate other sea users on the dangers they can face. I say that as a keen sailor, windsurfer and someone that loves the sea. Hopefully your videos will remind us that caution is always needed and having to call out the RNLI puts theirs lives at risk each and every time. Nice to know the RNLI is there but no one should take them for granted.

Ian Parker ian i thank you and your rnli crew colleagues for being so courageous and willing to go out on a shout especially to assholes who dare challenge the seas and on a rib no less utterly selfish self centred ego maniacs wreckless endangering of their lives and you and your crews lives thinking we are stronger and brave we will have some chop and bounce fun Sorry i get angry as a woman who grew up boating and believe licensing and certification in navigation and inland waterways and sea nav should be made compulsory along with rigorous checks on vessels and ribs for condition and maintenance of same and for p.p.e and pfd and dry suits but sorry for the rant THANK YOU IAN FOR YOUR SERVICE AND WILLINGNESS TO HELP AND TO SAVE LIVES

Man that boat was flying! I didn’t see what kind of power they had on that little rubber dinghy. Probably 4-1200hp motors or something ridiculous like that! It does take some special kind of balls to do that kind of job! Stay safe guys, stay safe!

Great job, it's nice to see the rib at least hast life jackets on, I see ribs all too often coming out of Newtown Creek late at night after a pub crawl with young lads and ladies dressed ready for a summers day afternoon in a pub garden.
@goodshipkaraboudjan
@goodshipkaraboudjan 4 года назад
Same here in Australia. Lots of "have a go heros" with designer fishing shirts on getting caught up during a bar crossing. Usually on their mates Dads boat during uni holidays and no one wearing a life jacket.
@goodshipkaraboudjan
@goodshipkaraboudjan 4 года назад
@George Lynch nah, in Melbourne and Sydney most people who are about the scene and not the fishing are spending $200 on shirts they'll get bait gut on.

The boat had almost capsized and had put out a may day call for assistance. They wanted to take two people off but it was easier to put one of the lifeboat crew onto it and escort it home.

Can the larger enclosed life boats carried on some ships survive big storms?
@atlantic18
@atlantic18 6 лет назад
Hi Joe the enclosed lifeboat on ships should be able to handle storm conditions they are designed to be self righting if they capsize and carry stores and first aid equipment to aid survival and recovery. Ian

Great footage! Is it possible for me to use and share this footage on my youtube page? I share footage from all kind of activities on our ocean. Cargo ships in the 1960s till now, oil rigs, fishing vessels, etc. Of course full credit will be given to the owner of the footage. Looking forward to your reply. Kind regards. Cheers.

Confusing. i see a lot of whitecaps so I know that the wind was blowing a gale. But why did the other boat need rescuing? It was under power. Somebody must have been hurt.

panic?
@Kimdino1

The trouble is that there are a lot of folk who believe that just because they have a boat with powerful engine they can charge around the sea as they like. And when the sea bites them, as it will, then they dont have the understanding to manage the situation and get scared.
@aoifemariamolloyagainstisl399

Kimdino1 partially my point to ian as a woman who has grown up sailing on our family cruiser we had swimming lessons navigation education given to us and my being the eldest charting on our nav book for inland waterways oil checks filling water supply and doing reed freeing from propeller and rudder and capsize and staying calm by floating on our backs which now the rnli are driving home

why don´t they sail in front of the small rib so they break the waves??
@atlantic18
@atlantic18 Год назад
Good point, it was a consideration but we are only a 8.5 m Rib so I think difference to them may not have been as beneficial as having them in full view in front. Should anything go wrong on board we would observe it and be able to immediately assist if anyone went overboard rather than having to turn around and go back and re approach from down sea. There is always options and its good to be able to analyse the footage to discuss them. Thanks Ian
