I've had two '77 toyota pickups, both 5-speed longbeds. Favorite trucks I've ever owned, and I've owned quite a few trucks. Happy to see this thing getting rescued!
Happy to present it to the RU-vid community! You will see it running at least in Part 3 and driving/power-washed in Part 4 I believe. Waiting on the final parts for our next installment(part 3), but the 20R is sitting comfortably in the engine bay right now. Radiator in, fuel system intact, just waiting on the head gasket. Cheers!
Hi Chris! I've never owned one of these myself, but a few of my friends did. As an aside, my grandfather bought a new 1976 Datsun 620 pickup. That little devil scurried around forever. In the end, it was the rust that finally did it in.
Today I picked up a 1975 Toyota pickup. Missing the bed and the engine is bare. No hose or manifold. 20r. $400 with delivery. Flat. Only thing I can say is nice is the dash.
@@SwedeMachine Really enjoy watching your channel. I have a 1980 Datsun 210 with 310,000 miles that Ive rebuilt the engine twice and put 2 clutches, pressure plates, and throw-out bearings into.Ive always thought of it as a cheapo Toyota. Love old cars - anything with points! Keep putting these old survivors back on the road and I will keep watching. Thank you.
I tried to kill two of those 20R motors. It was very difficult. The motor never failed, but I ran the transmission out of oil. It was my younger, stupid self. Looking forward to the next installment.
Also these trucks came from the factory with no rear bumper, like most Japanese pickups. Most dealerships installed them third party, but if you look at any of the factory brochures or ads from the era, they never had them new. Pretty good chance this never ever had one.
Oh really? Ah that explains it. I think it did have a very minor collision in the rear left side, but nothing significant. Explains why the body has a very minor dent, and why the bumper never stopped it...because it wasn't there. Makes sense. Thanks for the info boss!
i love those trucks , i have a 78 Toyota Wolverine 4x4 , i worked at performance engine shop so i rebuilt the motor placed a 20r ported head with over sized valves on a 22R block, headers, webber carb, high torque cam, over sized pistons, just wish the floor wont had rotted out LOL thank you for sharing your video. i had the same thing happen with the old head and block, had to shaved the head and block to flatten everything out . really enjoyed the bloopers glad to see im not the only one that has issues when working LOL
Well thank you! There will be many many more years of this. We're just getting started. So sit down, relax, and enjoy. We're all going to go for a ride!
I had that same model of truck but three years ago a truck crashed on me and I was in total loss, and since that day I have been looking for another :( . 20R are the best engine, mine had more than 200k km and it was still a beast, great videos dude i love it, best regards 4 u
Wow I hope you were alright! I'm glad to bring some good memories back to you. Thanks for the kind words, and hope to have it running for you guys soon :-)

Thank ya much! We are just getting started, might be a little slow for a bit, but we are going to have a long fun filled journey on this channel. Glad to see you stop by!
@@SwedeMachine I want to start making videos but my editing skills are kind of bad but I would have great content got tons and tons and tons of projects
@@hillbillieslive69 The editing does take a bit to learn. But it's never too late to start learning it. Saw a couple of your videos. That's a nice shop space with the lift. Also I love the little one cutting donuts in the snow on the lawn at wide open throttle with the 3 wheeler. Hilarious. He definitely sent it!
God man I have. 77 Hilux someone ran into the back of me replaced the bed but I cannot find a bed worth a dam I payed 250 for a decent bed with good taillights on it and I've beenrockin that
Hello friend I’m just wanted to say I am one of the Toyota fans I love ❤️ theme Toyota they build tough and long lasting car and truck yes sir they are the best of the best no doubt about that. I’m hoping you can get her starting up and running great 👍 keep up my friend.
I was almost halfway thinking you had some version of human Magnaflux vision and wouldn't need to send it out, but I'm glad you did anyway. That's a really solid looking truck body and some great work!
This one only has the fuel pump in the tank. And part 2 I showed that I removed it and put a simple pickup tube in the tank. We'll have a clicky clack fuel pump mounted on the fender to run the Weber 32 / 36
Huh interesting. I was told that SR5's should have factory bucket seats. This one did, but was swapped out for a bench seat for unknown reasons. Not sure boss...people can swap stuff out so who really knows lol😉
