Tim Petty you're an idiot. Many other species are extremely intelligent. They live in the wild normally they dont naturally use diapers you idiot. Elephants, big cats all the great ape species, dolphins, orcas whales etc...are all very intelligent creatures. Humans are not the only species capable of intelligence.

Tim Petty Dear Tim. I won’t try to explain the differant between chimpanze’s and dogs/cats/rabbits because their is no comparisment. I do like to tell you why I think the chimpanze’s are intelligent. There is something called the 7 intelligent’s. I will skip 1-5. Number 6 is the Interpersonel/social intelligens and number 7 is the Intrapersonel/Emotionel intelligens. I will make this short ... to develop skills within self-awareness and self-regulation, motivation of indulgence and social interaction. I can go on and on, so just think about it. I nearly forgot your question from the beginning. I certantly think a chimpanze can learn to go to the toilet in a certain place in the house but the owner probely hasn’t spend enough time.The easiest solution is to use a diaper because our body look alike and it fits perfectly.

Tim Petty In their natural environment it doesn't matter. They live in trees and their waste just falls off. Therefore the nerve tracts and neural circuits that would be needed to direct their attention to their elimination processes are not very developed. It's not important for them, so there's no need to pay attention. Dogs, on the other hand, slept with their pack in a cave, so they learned to leave that area and do their business outside the cave. A good prerequisite for successful domestication. Same goes for cats. Their instincts are telling them to bury their excretions, otherwise the odor could attract bigger predators which might kill them. This instinctual behavior is the way species have evolved. It is not an indicator of intelligence or lack thereof but adaption to a specific environment and way of life. Btw, monkeys are *not* pets, regardless of what some people are spreading. They are not domesticated, that is, selectively bred over many generations, which would change the entire species. Some are tamed, they were trained to perform tricks, which is not the same as it only affects individuals of the species. Monkeys and apes forced to live in captivity are not pets.

I’m a year late but chimpanzees don’t live in trees, they prefer the ground as they are too heavy to live in trees, and yah I know orangutans live in trees but they are actually built for it.

@Shahnaz Poursaied a scene from a documentary i've watched about chimps proves me you're not exactly right. it was pretty gruesome. those are just babies, orphaned, of course they're cute, harmless and need to comfort themselves.
