Situations where two seals are caught in the same entanglement are rare. At least, we don't often witness them. This could be because seals cannot coordinate their movements. If they become entangled at sea, it's unlikely they will make it back to the beach. Additionally, they continually choke each other as they move in different directions. We can only assume the actual number of double entanglements is much higher than our rescues indicate. For this reason, double entanglements are always extremely severe. As the animals flee from us, they inevitably hurt each other even more, making every second count, even if the seals appear to be buddies!
