Rescuing A Pride Of Lions From Cruel Romanian Zoo | Wild Animal Rescue | Real Wild

These Lions started out life in a zoo, forced to perform for audiences every night. When the male lion eventually snapped and attacked a circus worker, they were sent to a zoo in Baia Mare, Romania. The lions were kept in tiny cages with concrete flooring, trapped together for years until Romania joining the EU meant that the zoo had to close, and the lions faced euthanasia if a new home wasn't found for them. Their lives were saved due to the efforts of Dr Adin Miclaus, and the people at FOUR PAWS International.

I always think it’s such as shame that these videos show so much of the amazing rescues but very very little of the animals first days in their new habitat. I long for more footage of those precious moments of joy.

Those lions were so grateful to be released in their new home. There eyes, mood and everything showed it. Total relief. Animals are smarter than they are given credit. They knew they were home. Good for their doctor, friend, and keeper doing the right thing.

Canned hunting is barbaric. What these lions have endured is dreadful. I know vet Peter Caldwell. He takes care of South African Lion Whisperer Kevin Richardson’s animals at the Kevin Richardson Wildlife Sanctuary. He is an excellent vet. The veterinary dentist has also worked on Kevin’s lions he saved from the canned hunting industry.

He mentioned that his lions will finally get the best life they can, but I also think he himself will be able to finally live better. Imagine taking care of half a dozen lions with your own money with 0 support for 15 years. No breaks, no vacations, very little (if any) savings, just incredible how he managed on his own for so long.

I am absolutely terrified of those animals but it breaks my heart seeing them be treated like that. The Doctor Who owned them did his best though. If I ever win the lottery this will be one of those companies I donate money to. 4 paws

Being terrified of these big cats is healthy. I love big cats but I would NEVER get one. I dont even go to zoos because we need to eliminate zoos period.

@@diannshowers9129 Unfortunately out of control hunting, poaching, and deforestation have lead to zoos being many animals last chance for saving their species from extinction. Not all zoos are bad. The ones that are bad, give the rest a bad reputation. Not all zoos are the same. Conservation efforts starts with making sure the animals exist. Plus making sure there is a place to send them back too in the wild, but this takes years, as many people are evil and only care about money and don't care about being cruel to animals...the problem is people, not the animals. Bad zoos do need to be shut down, and the animals moved to safe places.

How can they possibly think that’s hunting, it’s more like the fish in the barrel thing. I had a dentist that bragged he did that and was soooo proud of himself…I walked out and never went back.

Marvellous, bless all these neglected, mistreated lions in small cages. The lions were fortunate to have the Vet doctor, in Romania, do the best he could for them and after years of trying had them rescued by the fantastic Real Wild Paws Doctors, nurses and the amazing team. Bravo to you all and thank you for sharing your work; to see the lions in their natural, stunning habitat after years of torture is joyous. Xxx

Willing to trade my life to decimate trophy killers/murders, poachers & sadists. It’s just effing cowardice to point a gun & shoot at a captive, defenseless lion or any living wildlife being. Thank you Dr. Miclaus & Four Paws for your dedicated work, empathy, & love to rescue & to provide a safer living environment for these magnificent animals. They will never know real freedom to roam, to be true to their nature. So we owe them compassionate care & humanity.

Yes, it's very weird that they filmed each lion being anesthetized (which isn't that interesting after the first one or two) but didn't film each lion coming out of the travel crate into their enclosures. I would have loved to have seen that. Maybe this is a series in which the next episode contains all of what we wish had been included here?

Not a single bad word against the good doctor and I'm so joyful to see sincere understanding of his doing his best with what little he had. I grew up with lions in Rhodesia the time of Kariba Dam construction. River Sanyati had been blocked causing the death of lots of wildlife. The Rhodesian lions cleverly moved to the Zambezi escapment where Kariba was being built.This is to show lion intelligence .The escamentgave them the passage to Zambia and Mozambique. Kariba and Botswana to evade capture. Lions are super intelligent and sensitive and predict human action after .If they kill a human they will travel kilometers to avoid the penalty coming.Lions are unique animals its a shame to see trophy hunters making money out of these animals

This film showed the best and worst of humanity. How wonderful to see these abused and exploited lions going to a place where they can live out their lives with dignity. How horrific that in the same country, lions are being "mass produced" to be killed by disgusting rich people. Utter shame on South Africa for allowing people to profit from such monstrous suffering.

Did he say “Its much Cheaper to go to a place like these canned hunting facilities here in S. Africa. There you have a pre-made lion prey animal which satisfies many hunters’ desire to GET A lion and for about half the cost”. Not exactly verbatim, but close enough. I NEVER EVEN KNEW SUCH PLACES EXISTED. This is ABSOLUTELY DEPLORABLE. DISGUSTING. HIGHLY IMMORAL. Some of the Ugliest People on Earth are engaging in this Dsgusting Endeavor. With things like this still extant on our Earth, I find myself losing faith in Man’s ability to Evolve .

I just wish they’d show a lot more in the video on how they react to their freedom, at least 15 to 20 minutes of footage, after seeing what they have suffered and endured, together with the efforts of all the team to care for them and get them to the land they where born to be in.. Absolutely commendable work by 4 paws.. all these animals are beautiful innocent souls worthy to live as nature intended.

I don't hunt because I don't want to, but I'm not opposed to people hunting if it's done for food and in a fair and humane manner. Every man in my family hunts and my ancestors (as far back as forever) hunted as well. Although I don't hunt, I understand that fair and humane hunting is actually extremely necessary to control animal populations and maintain the ecological balance in many areas of the world. With that said, I despise unfair and inhumane trophy hunting and also the poaching of animals just to take a piece and leave the rest to rot. It's appalling.

The only question I have and would beg an answer of anyone in the know is in this video and others you see tigers making the same the same journey - I just wonder how these 2 species get on with each other since tigers are usually solitary ????
