Thank goodness I basically live in the garden now and I was outside to hear her scream, Kim needed my help - in a pretty funny way.

I love how Elora sat in her mother's lap so casually and mom rests her head against hers. I remember those days with my mom.

Oh, my poor Kim. I'm glad you were out to help. Otherwise, who knows how long she would be stuck in there. How does your garden grow? At the Denman house, huge, wild, crazy, fun times, full of love and happiness. It's great to see others help, encourage, and share. In honesty you don't have to have a pressure canner to can, you need lots of time. Before pressure canning, everything was waterbath, fermented, smoked, or glassed. U.S. Department of Agriculture determined in 1917 that pressure canning was the only safe method for canning low acid foods without the risk of food poisoning. National presto industries Inc started pressure canners in 1905 for commercial use in 1919 they switched to home use, smaller canners 10 gallon.

Suggestion: In the Midwest, we net anything that is notorious for attracting moths like cabbage, broccoli, etc. Never had a problem with them on zucchini or yellow squash. Basically if the moth can't land on the leaves to lay eggs, then it prevents the issue. Actually, those two veggies are like the spam of the vegetable world where we live. Two plants of each will force you to "spam" it to friends, neighbors or anyone who will take the excess off my hands! There's only so much zucchini you need to freeze to make bread, zucchini pancakes, etc. up and above pickling, slaw, and grilling/frying made fresh during the season. I don't like to freeze it to eat as a veggie. Gives it a gross, rubbery texture. ☺️
@patpowell4059

I hope Kim takes this opportunity to raise that "lock" up higher on the door, so, if it happens again, she'll be able to get herself out. Shouldn't be any problem to move it higher.......LOL.....Lucky you were outside & heard her........

Thank you for showing us all the progress on your garden, it's coming along beautifully. Poor Kim, she needs to drill a hole, put a wire or rope through, knot big on inside against hole, other end through a hole or around latch board, east to open from inside. Can never get locked in again.

Hey 👋 Denman Clan! What a wonderful video w the dynamic duo! I don't know if it was my suggestion or not re the Marigolds. But am so happy you're doing it. I found it also draws Bees 🐝 who then pollinate the vegs. Win! Win! Re the Squash borers, there must b a natural solution, instead of losing squash. Don't forget not to plant them on the same spot every yr, so as to let detrimental insects die off. Always nice to see your lovely mini me, Elora. How adorable, walking around cuddling the chickens?! Love ❤ you guys. Thx 💙 so much for sharing your adventure w us. Have a blessed 🙌 day. ❤ n prayers Always. Elly 🇨🇦

I have done plenty of fencing in my time but I have never made a song for it.....I did string together alot of..."choice" words....and I mean A LOT. But now I have a song on repeat in my head about fencing... thanks to you, Stephanie, that is a first. However, being a guy of a certain age, I have retired from fencing, along with, hauling hay, ditch digging, and many other things, not because I can't but because I don't want to, so I will not be singing your "Ode to Fencing" while doing that particular chore. By the look on Buddy's face I think Kim will be reminded of that rescue mission more than a few times....

You’re garden will produce sooooo much! You could make a small farm stand by your road this summer/fall to sell what you have abundance of. That money can be put back into the garden. Your children could manage it. Also, here in the upper Midwest, I only vertical garden on East edge of garden so as to not block any needed sunlight from south and west. In the south you may have different conditions since your growing season is so much longer. Our season is from May to September

Stephanie, just hearing you comment on the squash bug I thought I would share with you some information I have learned throughout the years of gardening. The squash bug is in the soil. The abundance you have planted will bring an increase amount of squash boring bug to your garden, there is no pesticide to kill them.each year. The will multiply more my experience 5 to 7 years not growing vine plants helps. Watch for the bug also in your cucumbers or any vine plants. I pray it’s not a good year for them and your gardens as well. Time will tell.
