Depends on the moth really.. Some are just very plain or even ugly, some are actually PRETTIER than even most, if not all butterflies (say the Luna moth)
“He was lovely to look at” after you said you set it free seriously filled my heart with joy. Hats off to you, sir, for showing such empathy and kindness ☺️
I saw a progression reel of one of these beauties as it dried off just after emerging from the cocoon. Seeing the wings enlarge as they dried with such striking colours was amazing. There are some other pretty ones out there but these are probably my favourite.
Gorgeous! I keep rescuing these suicidal moths-I usually find them while dog walking. I've nursed six of them, and it's been so satisfying! Although none of them was as pretty as this one 😊
If you decide to do this with a caterpillar, just remember to do your research. Look up what food they actually eat and to give them height to climb when they emerge from their chrysalis so that their wings can properly form. I watched a video by a woman who gave a caterpillar oats and tomatoes to eat. The oats sucked moisture from the caterpillar. Everything molded. She didn't know it would take months so a trip she had planned came up, she left the caterpillars, one emerged from the chrysalis and had nothing to climb so it couldn't get blood to it's wings. The wings malformed. So she kept it as a pet and fed it fruit...which it couldn't eat...and it lived a miserable life and died. And she was so proud of herself and told the story like it was so special and positive.
omg as an insect lover that makes me so angry. these guys already have such short lifespans, it's so cruel to make that short time miserable for them. please do ur research y'all ❤
@@faroshscale crazy thing was the comments were FULL of people telling her what she actually did and she still didn't take her video down...continuing to spread her misinformation. Being ignorant is one thing, but that's just messed up. Worse yet it was a known crop pest and she released the two that made it 😬
I’m glad you released him back into the wild after he matured. As much as we may want to take care of these animals as pets, they still belong in the wild. They play important roles in our local ecosystems
@@jacobreisser8034I remember the first time I saw a hummingbird moth while I was at a caravan park, I was convinced it was an alien for a good while until I looked it up 😂😂
I had a white spring moth land on my shoulder and stayed with me for about 2 hours. Didn't even know it wqs there until someone in the grocery store told me that someone from my past was saying hello. I had just lost my father in-law so it made me tear up a bit. Little one stayed so long and I loved it. Even customers were surprised. Got to my car and it flew off into the trees. ❤
I love how you took care of him until he was able to mature. I truly think he was absolutely gorgeous in both stages. ❤❤ Thank you for what you did❤❤❤❤❤
You're a gentle soul. I'm always happy when I see that there are others that save creatures most people wouldn't care about. That's a beautiful metamorphosis.
Thank you for rescuing that elephant hawk moth! I saw a few a little while ago but had no idea they became such pretty moths. You did a great thing saving that little guy ❤
See them a lot where I am in the UK (farming area with lots trees, bushes, hedgerows and well-kept gardens). They are absolutely stunningly beautiful moths. One of the few caterpillars I don’t mind eating my plants 😝
Another person who appreciates the beauty and cuteness of moths. I have always loved them and he is amazing. Thank you for sharing one of the world's most beautiful things 😊
I tried to save a caterpillar while walking my 3 dogs, they are strong and get super excited at the park so it took a while to help the creature to safety, an older man saw what I did yelled at me pulled the creature out of the grass and stomped on it, thank you for being kind and considerate of this lil guy you are a wonderful person 😊
On a hot sunny day sitting with my father in his garden I was shocked to see a stone wall covered in loads of these amazing hawk moth caterpillars. I'd heard of them but never seen them. Absolutely gorgeous. That memory had stuck in my mind. My father wasn't a particularly nice person but somehow I knew on that hot summers day I'd look back and at least have a good memory of him and the hawk moths. Thank you for saving this lovely moth, you've enabled it to live and produce many more.
Moths are so beautiful, from the smallest one to the biggest, from the most colorful to the muted ones. I'm so happy this little guy showed up in my feed :)
