Well after seeing the two pot markers ten foot apart from the sand dunes today after dozens and dozens of yachts had came through, it was a rescue mission. They had gone together, and moved 300 yards plus to the south. If I didnt haul them today, they would have been gone. It was a bit of a nightmare, but you have to just face it, and get on with it.

Can’t worry about it. Just need to change the buoys over and stop it from happening in future

What a mess, you would think they could see your markers and keep out of the way. I was down your way saturday having a ride round Caister and Yarmouth. Yarmouth has gone downhill, can't park without paying keeping people away.

Yes, you can see them for miles. Great Yarmouth has gone down hill. It’s turning to a dump in the centre.

Least you got pots, anchor, rope back. You need to get your deckhand to put a shift in lol

Yip he's training to watch, I didn't feel comfy watching you struggle to lift tangle on board, when I was out as a kid on creel boat or large fishing boat I helped without being asked, I was on the winch at 9 years old lifting catch boxes upon pier, also hauling the creels in by hand. Glad you're still improving in strength though and plodding on. @@beanysfishing2555

Good video James, I must say i admire how cool and calm you keep, when you turn up to a mess like that was. You always see the positive, something i could learn from you, 😠 Good luck on your next trip.

Cheers. I’m not always like that. I said some pretty bad words on the beach when I saw the buoys together

I'm glad you told me you can't use a gun, do they belong to a yacht club do you know, if so you could get them all Specsavers appointments,?Seriously, if they can't see the pellets they shouldn't be driving a boat. Sorry you've got all that mess to sort out but looking on the bright side You've got cod and crab for tea, take care, Norfolk Ray

I don’t know where they come from or go too. Typical yachties, mainly haven’t got a clue, but it’s their sea

Could use floating flags instead of bouys like some of the lobster fishermen use in Scotland?

All the buffs here get pulled under when the tide is flowing hard. I’ve tried them dahns before, and they spin up badly when pulled under
@70chips
@70chips 28 дней назад
I'm curious why do you not use traditional Dahns like we do and the Cromer boys too? A flag 3ft above the water must far more visible than half a white can bobbing in and out of view. I'm the same when i come ashore in the summer, some people have no common sense! Better at 3am!
@beanysfishing2555
@beanysfishing2555 28 дней назад
We get far more tide than at Cromer, its like a different world here. Ive tried dahns, they get pulled under and spin up badly, even with pot spinners on.

Hi mate interesting video! Was going to pick your brains if that’s okay! I’m going to get a few Crab pots myself and fish the river Orwell and the river stour and few miles out the estuary. Any tips on were the best places to drop is ? And the ideal Depth ? Thanks Jim

You want to find some hard ground. They sink in mud and moving sand. It’s a bit trial and error.

@@user-il1nj7gu1c Also put ropes between the pots more than the depth of water, so you arent hauling more than one at a time

You seem to answer your comments, so can I ask you. Are those 10 inch slave wheels or bigger? Donkey motor 6 hp? and aproxamate pull with 12 mm rope. Ive had big slaves on my previous boats, but now just a 21 ft dory with a 450 seawinch slave. But it dosent pull enough and I want to go up just a little bit. Appreciate any info Cheers
@beanysfishing2555
@beanysfishing2555 27 дней назад
Those are 10' sheeves. I think it gives around 450lb pull like your set up. Have you got the pressure relief valve tightened upon your powerpack? If not, it will send the oil to tank before full load. Give seawinch a ring, they are very helpful.

@@beanysfishing2555 Hi Mate , well after years of struggling I tried turning up the pressure relief. What a differance, in fact ime gonna turn it back a bit tomorrow because it stalled the motor a couple of times yesterday. Can get the pots right up to the block no problem , even in tide. Thanks.

Why do you have so much rope on the main line for just a 5 pot fleet? There must be a couple o'hundred metres there! Genuine query as i'm only comparing you to other youtube channels that seem to do with much shorter lines?
@beanysfishing2555
@beanysfishing2555 28 дней назад
Well the pots are only 30 yards apart. I use them up to 90 feet of water, so you don’t want to be hauling two pots at the same time. Also, it gives you more time between pots when you are shooting

They do move without being hit. We have good tides here. Even when they are put where no boats steam, I’ve still had them move.
