So my daughter is half Native American and White, I take out to her grandparents house on the rez all the time and she always came back with stories about how her and her cousins fought against the rez dogs everyday. Funniest stories ever until she smuggled one home with us when I picked her up last year, so now I have a rez dog on my ranch teaching my other dogs to be a rez dogs.
So your daughter is of the white race. If she is half Native American and white than she is 100% white since the true native Americans are white people. This is a known fact. White people were first to be in America, that is a known fact.
So great to hear that natives were looking out for their elders during this pandemic. In juxtaposition, my neighbors kept telling me stuff like, “but only old people are dying, right? So what’s the big deal?” Thanks for making this channel. Y’all are good people.
@@lucitajames6166 There's literally not a moment that some kid somewhere didn't "just get killed by dogs." Dogs kill like 25,000-30,000 people a year, children being the largest portion of those deaths. Does that mean we're never allowed to joke about packs of stray dogs ever? Of course not. Idiots behind the wheel kill thousands of people too, but we don't all try to shame people for laughing at dumb drivers. I seriously just don't see what your point is here.
You got some inappropriate replies...and I'm sorry. As for me, I am totally with you on your astute comment! Natives have FAR more respect for elders than most everyone else, especially in the U.S....they actually honor them and learn from them while our white culture denies them the right to even be alive...until they become one.
Hilarious! I taught on reserve in the early 90s and was adopted by a rez dog, fostered a rez puppy and had one of my student's rez dogs guard our classroom all day...sometimes from on top of my desk. He'd be watching me mark papers like "no, Shawn gets an A or I'm following you home tonight."
@@patrickisanavajo I'm sure, whether positive or negative, It has been Natalie's life experiences which help her contribute to your channel. I've said it before, I am not Native(I'm Italian) but love your channel. About 30 years ago, I tried my first Indian Taco, and have been hooked ever since lol
shout out to her sister... Hope they at least gave her a chair and didnt make her stand in the corner. I just imagine her hanging out the window with a stick keeping the rez dogs out. they got the place surrounded... tryin to chew up the internet cable before this humiliating video can be uploaded
Years ago I had a dog who was a pretty good guy. He kept the other dogs out of our yard, kept the kids from getting too close the the street, and went with me when I went out riding. There was this other dog along the way, behind a fence. Big guy, too. Every time we went by, he and Oscar would run along the fence, cussing each other out in Dog and threatening to tear each other up. One day, the gate was open and the two met face to face and the other dog's owner and I waited for the inevitable fight, both of us big-eyed and holding our breaths. The two big dogs looked confused, then ran back up the fence cussing each other out. The two humans both had a good laugh, gave the rez nod, and went back to doing what we were doing. Rez dogs...
Awesome story. I can only imagine what went through their minds. "I'll kick your butt!" "You and what pack?" "If it wasn't for this fence, I would..." "?...?" "Uh, hi." ...
I'm native, but I didn't grow up on a reservation or anything. But I had a dog who would escape the house, refuse to come back in, chase cars and people off from coming anywhere near our house, would bite cars, and would only let a select few outside of our family pet him. Soo, I'm guessing he was a rez dog at heart?? Also love Natalie! Nice to have her back!!
my dogs act like rez dogs for sure. I have a rotti and a German Shepard. One time a few native dudes walked by our yard completely unafraid. One of them laughed and said to me "haha we lived on the rez. They're cute though." my husband and I laughed pretty hard.
They're worse actually, hahahaha,my grandparents lived on a farm when I was small, they had about fifteen or so geese, whenever I'd be playing around with the hose/sprinkler naked ,they'd all come after me with their long necks extended fully whilst honking madly and all trying to peck at my private parts and fingers and toes, even my hair, lolz, they have zero fear and aren't very intelligent so nothing works to scare them off.
What a fun video! Natalie has such a great sense of humor she needs to be on more and a great ending part. I will be donating to those to help the rez dogs. "To find the morals of any society, look to see how they treat their animals" -Gandhi.
This was hilarious and thank you so much for sharing the resources! I volunteer at an animal shelter and with dog rescues and when I was at Pine Ridge the joke became if you wanted to find me ... find the Rez dogs 😂 - gas station, someone’s house, working LOL they’d find me and I’d drop everything like “oh you are so cute” 😂 I would be the one in your video running towards the dogs. In all seriousness though I wanted to do something for the dogs but didn’t know how to best help - so thanks for sharing along with the laughter you provided 💕
This is too funny, I swear you guys are basically the same as the Maori's in New Zealand. Our small towns have dogs like these that act exactly the same. My uncle had a tiny chihuahua called Brutus, he was king of the street. Chased everyone away from our corner, he was boss of all the dogs and even latched onto the balls of a new rottweiler that moved into the street and won. That dog never tried to bother Brutus again. The dog I had then, would lie in the middle of the road with his kitten tribe and stop traffic. He would also just sit in the middle of the yard when we got the jehovas come around, he would just stare at them and freak them out. It was hilarious. They soon learnt not to come near our house and they would cross the road to avoid us, and cross back over when they got far enough away from my dog!
@@ashtrix8413 all the little dogs are so mean! As a kid I was always more scared of the little guys than I was of the big ones. You definitely knew which of the little dogs were the boss of the street 🤣
@@morningstarghuleh1087 🤣😂 it always reminds me of looney tunes, the tough bull dog and his yappy little mate, then their roles reverse by the end and the little one is slapping the big one around 😂🤣
For FYI, look up spay USA. They'll send you vouchers to take to participating vets (there's plenty) and the cost to spray and neuter is DRASTICALLY reduced. For cats and dogs
@@alexandersupertramp7353 yes that is why I took all the puppies. 5 girls. All now fixed. All now not making more. I can't force my family to fix their pets.
@@alexandersupertramp7353 and too few wild animals. Neuter and spay, thats fine, let some of the wild ones grow to fill a gap in the living system. They complain about "too many deer" in much of new york, while ensuring they have no predators, its almost like they litigate against letting the ecosystem get healthy.
Man, i went to Afghanistan a while back, where they call em "bully kutta" dogs... I'm telling you, even in Asia, i could take ten stray dogs from any region and they would fit right in😂. The kids are so good with em too, they do the same "hidden" stone trick.
Love the info at the end! . Rez dogs are pretty tough ! I volunteered for a group called RAVS( rural area vet services) many years ago. They did trips to different reservations and offered free spay/neuter vet care. Met a lot of cool people and dogs.
Funny as hell. My pack of rez is odd. The alpha is a male tom cat that thinks it's a pit bull. ...he was raised by pit bull mixes. I want thinking of getting a shirt 👕printed saying "i love my rez mutt" (under that in a smaller font " when its not stealing my food!)
@@donnajones6306 more like rez catdog. He barks some times. He sounds like Is a pomeranian mixed with a Chihuahua mix with a corgi and then a bit of meow
This episode was undeniably the funniest one so far. Definitely worth the wait. Especially liked Natalie’s Rez dog training camp commercial. We only have a cat, but I still felt a strong urge to sent her to get some training.🤣
Aw, nice to have Natalie back, she's so pretty and lively. Kind of weird too I recognized the meaning of 'miyo pimatsowin' even though I'm 'Ojibway' and not Cree. In Ojibway, or rather, Anishinaabe, it would be "mino bimaadiziwin" meaning something like 'good life'. edit: btw that's seriously the cutest rez dog i've ever seen too at 11:32.
Literally how we got our dog: 2016 Gonna take a road trip out west, and said to my husband "we're not going to be those hippies who go out west and come home with a traveling dog". June 21st: driving through Navajo land, stop at a gas station / trading post in Teec Nos Pos. See super cute dog. Dog comes up to me as I get out of the car, looking rough. I give him some water. Go into the gas station. Come back out, give cute dog some beef jerky this time. Waiting for my husband. Start petting the dog and pick some ticks off of him. Stop picking the ticks. Dog puts his nose under my arm. Heart melts. Husband says "do you want this dog?". I say "let me ask about him". Go into the trading post and ask the proprietor of he knows anything about the dog. His answer: "he probably belongs to the people across the street, but no one will care if you take him". We put dog in car and drive him to the closest vet. Find out he is on the brink of death. Get him medicine and a de-ticking. Name him Sundog. Drive Sundog home to Michigan. He is the best dog I've ever met, with a beautiful personality - the light of our life. Thank you, Navajo people, for allowing me to bring this animal into my family. He is also a neighborhood celebrity, and people keep getting dogs after they meet him, but their dogs are never as good.
You just stole somebody's dog, dude. There's always tourists coming through thinking they're rescuing a stray, but they're just stealing someone's dog. "Noone will care if you take him"??? WTF. Did you actually go ask the people if you could just take their dog?
@@monicanlamppost9631 The dog was neglected. He was emaciated, thirsty and starving, covered in ticks, and had a tick-borne disease that almost killed him. We literally saved his life. He is well-cared for and happy now. So you don't get to judge.
@@earthaforester3141 so instead of taking him to a local shelter or community service center so he could be rehoused you took him. Like I’m not faulting you for doing the best you though was for at the time, but it does highlight the mentality people have when they travel through native sovereign land. They see something and take it, instead of contact the proper native people.
@@gamer242mooo I understand what you are saying. But we would have adopted him regardless of where in the country we found him. It's not about taking from Native sovereign land. Most shelters are under funded and overburdened as it is. We did what we thought was right. We gave him health care, safety, love, and a home, which is what he needed, and what he would've been waiting for in the purgatory of a kennel anyway. He's not a child who needs to stay with his people and remain connected to his culture. He is an animal. And we had permission to take him. I didn't even ask the trading post owner if I could have him - he offered him to me. It didn't feel right to abandon him, knowing I could provide what he was in desperate need of. I don't believe in seeing a problem and pushing it onto someone else when you have the power to do something about it. I truly believe Sundog would have been dead in a matter of days if it weren't for us - and we've had two different vet clinics tell us as much. He is a part of my family now, and I cannot apologize for that. I think the story of how we found each other is a beautiful one.
Best episode EVER! Natalie is a rose between two thorns. LoL I'm part of Kansas City Great Dane Club's Rescue. I'm a foster mama, so seeing those Rez Dog rescues warmed my heart. Thanks for posting this.
I watched this yesterday and came back this morning with my coffee to giggle again. I love your jokes! Thanks for adding the groups in there- Rez dogs need love too ♥️ I adopted a German Shepard Husky mix and he’s big for nothing..a big chicken 😂 tries to be a security guard just quietly says “boof” instead of barking at the door.
When they asked her what the dog looked like and she made that face. 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 Cuz, I'm about to pop pregnant. I can't laugh that hard no more. Felt like preterm labor was coming on.
@@libertylovingbeckles6797 That's how I delivered my almost 9 pound daughter in just over 2 hours, natural childbirth. Every time I laughed I'd have a contraction, but no pain. I highly recommend it.
It's either spirit energy or special effects....when the 3 of y'all laugh it sounds like four people, I swear to God. Great video as always! Natalie is delightful.
So funny! I adopted a res dog in Montana. My youngest son names our animals and he called her Pippen. She’s long gone so this brought back fond memories of Pippen🐕🦺🥰
Freaken hilarious. Its true they mark your house when you have mean dogs. When I was a kid, the NTUA guy told my mom we wait until someone is home before we get out to check your meters. He said your house is marked with a RED thumb tack so we know you have mean dogs. 😂😂 Don't worry, they were in our yard and never got the NTUA man.
Years back our dog nearly had the meter dude pissin himself and I was dyin laughin. Dog smacked against our glass backdoor and I swear I haven't seen a grown mam jump like that without a basketball 🤣🤣🤣 all the meter dudes refused to walk in the yard after that
My cousin and her husband were visiting the Navajo Nation a few years back and found a sick injured puppy. Of course, they added him to their pack of Huskies and he was loving life, once he was feeling better.
Laughed out loud the whole way through! Also- I used to have EIGHT dogs. Here in rural Georgia, if you get more than two, then everyone knows where to drop off their dogs!
You guys, I just love your channel, and, so far, all the guests. Natalie is superb, I think I subbed before, if not, I will. Beauty, brains, and humor, most important. I loved the mention of Rez Dogs needing care. Spaying and neutering, local vets should give deals! But I assume people dump them there, too, which is awful. I live in Kingman, Az. There was a table of Native, mostly women and girls at Walmart. They had pictures of dogs from 3 of the reservations closest. They've been working on a 'standard' and had a petition to AKC to create a breed. These dogs were like a bit sleeker, German shepherd or Belgian, Malinois, but had some border collie. They said the had some coyote, too. They looked it. I signed, and as they were taking suggestions for breed names, that was fun! They were thinking 'American Indian Shepherds'., or 'American Rez Shepherds' .There were a few joke ones that were cute. I suggested 'American Coyrez Sheep dogs' or 'American Rezote Shepherd'. They seemed to like mine, too! I've not seen them, so don't know, but I know it can take a long time with AKC. I'd like them to become a 'thing', and Native women, girls, have them as guardians!👍🥰🤎✌🎃
My sister and her new husband were able to 'adopt' a Rez dog when visiting Pine Ridge years ago. She came in the night and decided they were hers. Sunka was an amazingly smart and wonderful dog, one of the finest dogs I ever met.
It is nice to know that there is a community to support the Rez dogs. A friend of mine used to drive a Pepsi truck and delivered Pepsi to the Reservation from Flagstaff. One day, he came home with a dog. He named her "Stray Dog". The best dog ever. She went with us travelling around, going boating on lakes, hot springs, canyon hiking. I took her to school at NAU one day and I was only going in for a short time and then I was going to take her hiking. It was thundering and I guess I left the window in the truck down too low. When I came back, she was gone. I looked for her for 2 weeks, talking to local businesses and walking along the roads and through fields between NAU and North East Flagstaff. Circle K guy told me she had been sleeping under a car at the mechanic down the street! Dog walked 20 miles but could not get across the under/overpass with the traffic to get home. We all cried so much with joy. She ended up moving to Hawaii with another friend of mine where she lived out the rest of her life. What a dog. Definitely NOT an Alpha! P,S, Love your show!
I laughed so much through this video and learned a lot, too. Thank you for also sharing info on the Rez Dog goups. Animal charities need all the support they can get.
Half the girl's tic tok time was falling over the dog! "Daaaaang!" The little dog, low to the ground waits patiently, until the guy drops the lunches in the cooler. Then, "run!" Part 2... The guy turns and the dog runs! LOL Good stuff! Rez dog standoff? That guy has 'True Grit!' I think I had a rez dog for 15 years, and never knew it. I adopted him from a shelter, and named him "Gator." He had a record of 5 groundhogs, 2 rabbits, 1 possum, and bit 2 people! That was his backyard damit! Just admit it. Rez dogs is just part of the family too. I love dogs, they are always happy yo see you and always ready for an adventure with you! I miss ole Gator. He was a good friend and my only family. It killed me when I had to have him put down. But his health had gotten so bad, he was suffering and I didn't want that.
I got chased by a rez dog in NM that was a chow breed. Oh my, I have never run so fast in my life. I really thought I was going to die. There are charities for rez animals. My family donated and got a calendar every year of scrappy dogs and cats.
In the mountains of AZ we drove through the Apache res to fish their lakes and non res lakes. Driving through one small town we always took dog treats to get the res dogs away from the road so traffic could drive through!🤣🐕
Ok , you guys RULE ! Your message at the end , got me all choked up . I’d been avoiding this particular episode because I love dogs . I’m glad I toughed it out , lol . You 3 together are great ! Yep , super glad I finally watched this .
Just saw an ad during this vid about how to defend oneself if you get attacked by people....obviously they don’t know that all you need is an alpha Rez dog for your self defense 😆
I laughed so much at this. I used to live in Taos, NM and it’s so true. The people I knew from the Pueblo joked about it. My friend got a puppy from there and she was a little crazy.
It was so cool, last week I was watching the nightly news and they were talking about the "running as medicine" run. I was like I learned about that from you guys before! It was funny listening to the journalist talking about how they need the recipe for fry bread🤦♀️. I love learning from you guys!
Hi Patrick, I love your vlogs and have learned so much, thank you. Something amazing is happening here in Nevada, that I thought you might like it for your “Natives doing great things” section. A young man from the Paiute tribe, Ku Stevens, will be retracing his great-grandfather’s journey in escaping from the Stewart Indian School outside of Carson City. His great-grandfather was only 8 years old when he ran 50 miles trying to get back to his family on the Yerington Paiute tribal reservation. I have grandkids that age and it breaks my heart to think of it all. Anyway, Ku sounds like an amazing kid, and is doing an amazing thing, inviting any and all who want to run any part of the remembrance run with him to do so. The run is August 14th, will be run over two days with a camp out overnight. His mother, Missy Stevens, has more info on her Facebook page. Keep up the great work, I know it inspires many. Take care, Linda
Kudos for the shout out to the dog rescue folks. Positive vibes from New Hampshire and remember to be kind to each other and yourself during this pandemic and social crisis
I'm so happy you highlighted those beautiful People at the end. People who aren't familiar with the rez or are younger probably don't know a lot of them may need vet care etc. I'm super glad People are doing that. Love your channel ❤.
I love your videos. You always make me laugh so hard at the silliest things (just like when I hang out with my family). Wish I could come hang out with ya'll.
I enjoyed watching the three of you laugh and making comments on the clips. I especially enjoyed that there are groups out there trying to make life easier for Rez Dogs. I have two rescues myself and they are the most loyal dogs I’ve ever had.
Another great video, Patrick! Natalie was a great guest, the videos you covered were hilarious, and your editing is officially over the top! Well done!
Your humour is infectious and always has me streaming in tears of laughter. Thanks to you all for lightening up the day. And, major kudos to you for the shout out re: Rez Roads and Save Rez Dogs.
