I love long hair on men. I also like if they want to wear an earring and other cultural jewelry. If it's your culture, I say wear it proudly. There are some cultures putting restrictions on other peoples cultures, I say mind your own business.
I’m so grateful you share your heritage! I’m 1/16th native, my grandpa was 1/4, he died when I was 12 so I never got to learn about my native heritage. I don’t even know what tribe he was part of.

I grew up in Wellpinit. That Indian Tacos 5 bucks 6 with a pop. I laughed so hard. Brings back the memories of many a pow-wow. Dang, made me remember Aye. Always hear Dang and Aye.
I went to grade school with a lot of Navajo and Hopi (I'm white). Well on buffalo burger day, I was the last in line and they ran out right at me. I was the only one who did not get buffalo burger.. They were all getting stickers to celebrate and everything. I was so upset to be left out, A lunch attendant approached to comfort me and offered me a 'sticker'. I wasn't having any of it, and after arguing with her, I felt a tear coming on. I was hurting but the irony of the white kid crying about buffalo was not lost on me. I sat back down and made the 'stoic' face letting the tear come down my chin. When my indigenous friends saw this, I stared into the distance and said 'the buffalo...' Laughter erupted! I made a few new friends that day. That was almost 40 years ago - so people have been clowning that stereotype for a long time!
I identify myself as Native American/American Indian because my mother was enrolled in a wealthy and prosperous California tribe (Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians, in Palm Springs, CA) with multiple casinos. I also have half sisters who are also enrolled in this tribe. Although my parents didn't marry, I still have *enough* Indian blood to qualify for that requirement. I want to know why don't tribes in the U.S. change their enrollment policy so that people like myself and others who identify as American Indian/Native American can find financial support, and social support and other benefits? Why is the enrollment policy set in stone? I hope one day this topic of enrollment will reach tribal governments in the U.S. where they can have a serious discussion on how to set the law for the enrollment policy so tribes can exist in the future and have bigger tribes...maybe even re-write U.S. history.
