Reshaping Hammers

I have heard the word “teardrop” used for the desired shape in the context of hammer shaping. Also just look at a brand new set of hammers for the desired shape. Anything pointy will wear very quickly. The treble on that piano is near the end of its life. Okay for a client who rarely plays but for a community of musicianship I would find it absolutely acceptable to replace the top octave, even if molding color etc does not match. My Weber had some top few hammers replaced and I’m sure you see this from time to time. Prince Charles is known for wearing patched coats, sometimes it can actually bring a feeling of utilizing resources well.

Is it normal to still have grooves in the hammers after a voicing? Just a sign of not enough felt or having the grooves too deep to fix?
