how easy to get preferred medical specialty in Sweeden ? (because some countries have limited seats for foreign medical graduates for medical specialty )
Thank you!In Germany residents complain of the poor quality of residency programs because they don't really teach you, you're just working. How's the training in Sweden? Is it academically oriented?
Hi! I am a pediatrician in Brazil. I’ve watched the other video that you said about internship 18 months to know the medicine in Sweden. But how about validation of the specialty? Thanks!!
hejhej! im in the process of moving to sweden and looking for a residency, do you maybe know if the only way to get into cardiology is to apply for ST-läkare i kardiologi or can you start through general internal medicine and then switch to cardiology later? Some of the announces seem pretty vague and only mention internal medicine.. Thanks in advance for your help!
Thank you for the video. It was very informative. What are the advantages and disadvantages of being a doctor in Sweden compared to UK?And also can you tell us about the work environment of Sweden for immigrant doctors?Did you face any problems working in Sweden? Thanks again :)
Hi Dr. Anees, Thank you for giving such valuable information!! I am sincerely searching for options to get into Pediatrics specialist training. Do you have any references for Pediatrics in particular? I am currently working in Dubai as a Pediatrics General practitioner, for past 3 years. I am confused where to begin with in fact, thought of joining any courses first to get a resident visa, but not sure if that’s a good idea or it will just take my time.. Kindly advise .
Salam ! Thanks for your video Is it possible to embark upon PhD thesis meanwhile you are doing your medical specialty training ? and how easy is that ?
Hi, thank you so much for all videos you have made. I wanted to know how much competitive is dermatology residency? How can I look up into the number of residences they accept per year.
Hi Maryam! Thank you for your question! Dermatology is one of the most competitive on the international scale and in Sweden as well. However, being at the right place at the right time in Sweden does wonders. This means contacting departments in different hospitals regardless if they have a spot announced or not. Place yourself on their radar as they say. You never know when you receive an email saying let’s meet in person and talk. Regarding to the number of spots; it’s quite difficult to say seeing that spots open up in different hospitals at different times and in different numbers. For example, if suddenly a department becomes short of residents “ due to parental leave or someone leaving” spots might suddenly be available. Tip: Become certified as a physician here and send your CV to all Derm departments.
Hello. If i may ask, in your experience, did you apply for a PhD student position while already being engaged in residency or did you simultaneously apply for both? Also, does taking the residency - phd path extend the years of training you do for both the program? (like, does your 5 year bound residency become extended or something) thank you!! Subbed to your channel! More contents plss
Hello! You can definitely apply to a PhD while pursuing your residency. It might increase the residency length that is true. However! Your income after your 5th year in residency might increase even if you have not completed your residency due to the fact that your delay was only caused by the phd program
Hello there Doctor! I have recently found your channel and I love it so far! Thank you so much for the info you provide us, I appreciate your efforts and your willingness to help! I would like to ask you a question, but first I have to describe my personal status and situation, so sorry in advance ,if it takes too long ..! I am a 2nd year resident in general surgery in my country . I would like to move to Sweden to continue my residency (or at least start from scratch ) . I was thinking of going to Umea in order to match a general surgery program there, because I have been told that its very very difficult to match a residency program in major cities such as Stockholm and hospitals eg: Karolinska etc! My question is: Is General Surgery a very competitive residency from (matching system point of view) and is it a good idea of me going to Umea? I am currently on a b1-b2 level in Swedish language, and I know that I need C1, but i cannot afford to start online courses in Folkuniversitetet because i quit to focus on learning Svenska! , So I am thinking of coming to Umea , (or anywhere else) to work as an underläkare, or even as a worker if I have to...And continue there the language courses ! Any kind of advise or tip for my situation? Keep up the good work !
