the N64 version is simply ingenious design. whenever a character moves the number of polygons that makes them is cut in half. you can kinda see this if you pause the video while a character is running. of course, you can't see this on a crt monitor from back in the day due to how low res they were but you can see it on a PC emulator. also the fmvs we're reduced to 15 frames per second but used frame interpolation to make it look like 30 and be somewhat smooth. other than that you just have reduced audio and graphics quality. a lot of really smart tweaks were made to the game and nobody back in the day could tell
There was also a GBA port but it was rejected by Capcom and cancelled, you can actually get the ROM but its just at the beginning of the game but very cool being a GBA game, and the skills the devs put into it as a GBA tittle
GameCube, Dreamcast, and PS1 are all good ways. I suggest GC for smooth textures. PS3 has the PS1 version digitally and you can play it on PSP and Vita.
This would be an insane project for you. Best way to play Resident evil 4. GameCube Wii Switch Ps2-4 Xbox 360 Xbox 1 Steam VR Android lol Way too many playthroughs. I wouldn't expect you to do this. If you did, the ps5 release will be out :)
You can also enhance the the FMVs and sound in the PC version with mods. The improvement is very noticeable! Only thing I don't like about the sound mod is that it uses the GameCube voice at the title screen as I like the original better.
I will never forget the day i bought the Dreamcast with Code Veronica that were released when the Ps2 were even still not on the market and tbh when RE 2 got it's re-release on the Dreamcast, i did not pay much attention bcs i did played it a lot of times on PSOne not considering that may have been some improvements-changes but thanks to you i got it now. Great video, very well done, thank you.
Great vid dude, really helped a confused soul such as myself lol. I did want to ask though: does the PC version mod also give the option to play with alternate/first person controls, rather than tank controls?
I agree, the PC version is by far the best. It'll be even better when the Seamless HD project is done for this version. Now if only they can make cutscenes skippable like the GameCube version, it'll be THE definitive way to play OG RE2!
@@ultracreed3080 I actually asked Gemini (the creator of REbirth) and he said "no idea tbh, implementing cutscene skipping is a mess". Doesn't sound too promising ATM but hopefully it'll get figured out someday.
I would suggest sourcenext version, because you can play the original game how it was and also all the different mods. I don't know if sourcenext is mandatory for the mods, but I was under that impression 3 years ago when I got into it.
I hope you make a video on RE3 nemesis on which is the best port to play, (for me classic rebirth is the best way to play all of the original resi classic versions)
Honestly, wherever and whenever any game allows me to use a D pad over a thumb stick, I'll always go with the d pad. Button presses are much faster and more responsive than moving a stick in a direction and the time it takes for the stick to move from center to a direction is actually much slower than a button press and can actually matter quite a lot in a fast paced game
The N64 could have been a great port if they included stock footage from the cutscenes instead of FMV sequences. That way, the game could've had Extreme Battle as an unlockable game mode.
This is interesting as re2 is one of my favourites in the series I’ve got a question is there going to be a video on what’s the best version of the original final fantasy VII
Just for the difficulties, I'd love to play on Dreamcast because I'm a bit tired to make challenges to make the game harder. In the other consoles versions, too easy!!
If you're a huge fan and find it too easy, then you will love the Expert and Nightmare modes! These will offer even the most elite resident evil players a real challenge. Hope you will get the chance to play the Dreamcast version :)
On the REHDSP site, it says that in the future it would come to the pc, but that its not done yet. Thanks for bringing this to my attention! I missed this mod for the pc and it looks great :)
Hey, I got sourcenext re2 and installed Rebirth classic but I don't have the Hard difficulty, I got Leon MAX and Claire MAX savegames, what does MAX mean?
e finalmente si esplora la stazione di polizia, ma lo zombie che hai ucciso per ottenere la chiave non è mica Brad di Resident Evil 3 comunque per il fatto dei vestiti per me sono belli tutti e due
lol first resident evil made them almost half a billion dollars, this one almost 2 billion. resident evil games as a whole made almost 6.5 billion dollars in 25 years and that doesnt include the spin off games (almost 1 billion) or the movies (1.3 billion). just the "resident evil 2" name alone making up 25% of almost 6.5billion dollars total game sales and the same amount of money as 7 box office films tell you something about this special little number
Yes, it's the Sourcenext version. You should still install the REbirth mod, because it adds enough extra's and you have an option to keep the game in japanese. I am not allowed to link it to you as that would be illegal, but you should be able to find it by using google or another search engine :)
Using dolphin, you can install the 'Seamless HD project' which is a fan made project, they upscaled the backgrounds etc with ai upscaling. You can find more information on their website which is linked in the description.
What😂 just duckstation ps1 version. Don't need to go through all these hopes for worse quality. Then again if going pc might as well get pc version lol
